This game really came out of nowhere for me. Having never played any of the Bit Trip games, I'd read rave reviews about this game and about how good it was. The first thing you notice when you start the game are the vibrant colors and beautiful backgrounds. The art style is really clean and crisp; it makes everything easy to see and prepare for. This is important because every jump, slide, bounce, block, super bounce and slide jump you do are all in rhythm to the song playing in each level. Bad controls would absolutely break this game because of how time sensitive it is so I'm happy to say they are nearly flawless. A players success with this game is going to be solely based on how good their hand-eye coordination is. With sound being so important it's a good thing then, that the music is generally upbeat and enjoyable. It gives a relaxing feel that works well even though the game itself is about timing and reaction.

If you pick up every item in a level and beat it you get a "Perfect" rating. You can also get a "Perfect+" which is picking up every item along with getting shot out of a canon that moves up and down and hitting a red bullseye at the end of a level. This can be really frustrating if you're trying to get Perfect+ on every level, say for an achievement that requires it. You might be playing on hard and on the 10th try you finally beat the level, pick up every item and now it's time to try and hit the bullseye. There's no surefire way to hit it other than sort of feeling it's the right moment to fire. If you miss and you want the Perfect+ you'll have to play the whole level over again to get the chance to hit the bullseye again. This is literally the only thing in the game that might detract from someones enjoyment of it in any way.

It's not a huge game taking around 5 hours to get through the first time but Hard mode is where the game really shines as it fills in a lot more of the song with obstacles and enemies that are missing on easier difficulties. You can also play 8-bit retro levels that are hidding throughout stages. I didn't find them anywhere near as enjoyable as the main game however. Bottom line, this is a great game that should be enjoyed by everywhere and a game that can brighten your day whenever you play it.

Runner2 Future Legend of Rhythm Alien
Your task: run forward, collect gold and powerups, but dodge the various obstacles of living and nonliving genesis.
Unlike its predecessor BIT.TRIP RUNNER, Runner2 Future Legend of Rhythm Alien made with good graphics, without a touch of retro bit styling. This means that the probability of vertigo and epilepsy reduced to minimum.
Compared with BIT.TRIP RUNNER, gameplay became softer - to the levels added checkpoints. Checkpoints are located approximately at half of the distance.
Highly recommend to use a gamepad for playing, as well as stock up soothing. :)
For support gamepad you need to purchase additional software, example Pinnacle Game Profiler or Xpadder.

Runner2 Future Legend of Rhythm Alien
Xpadder.

This is a great rhythm-based platformer. I found the original BIT.TRIP.RUNNER to get really frustrating really quickly, but RUNNER 2 has varying difficulties and much more forgiving checkpoints, and it has a nice cartoony aesthetic and style (and a goofy narrator) that elevates it's silly lightheartedness to RAYMAN levels. It's really enjoyable. It's also one of the few games that really gets me in "the zone".

And dang, that Disco dancin' Cheezborger guy is just so smooooooth.

Hold your breath, calm your teeth, stay focus, because you need speed, accuracy, brain and good hand eye coordination to beat this game. BIT.TRIP Presents... Runner2 actually feels like endless running where you are trying to avoid many obstacle to reach the goal.

Plus:
+ Awesome rhythm music playing in background
+ Outstanding art
+ High replayability
+ Jump and jump and jump and jump....... until dead
+ Retro mode
+ A lot of secret character

Minus:
- It's hard to get perfect on hard mode, sometimes you must repeat the same level again and again just to get perfect.

One of the best games I have on my Steam library as of now. Runner 2 takes the elements of the first Runner and makes it ten times more awesome. The music is amazing, espeically on Ultra. I like to play at maximum volume with earphones. And who cares of this music isn't fitting for the boss battles? Also, over 100 levels. That's a LOT of levels for a game like this! The game is also easy to beat. I finished it whole in one night. I was on Quite Easy though. But the main thrill comes from Rather Hard and I really enjoy it. Also, I especially love the theme and style of the game. With all kinds of cute dialogue, cutscenes and stuff. One other great thing, I find this game to be a REALLY good trainer for the first Runner, which is shorter but harder than this game. After playing this game for a while I went back to the first Runner and got a perfect (Not double) in every world.

I recommend this game if you're into rhythm games, funny events, epic soundtracks, and easy indie gaming.

Still working through this game, but damn is it every bit as good as its predecessor. Beautiful music that is quite soothing and eases my previous frustrations with the first game's model. This game also has a much more distinct and more easily navigatable running track that doesn't just blend with the background, which often confused my actions in the last game to the point of tears. So many other built in bonuses in this sequel, but wait...

...there's CHECKPOINTS?! YOU MEAN I DON'T ALWAYS HAVE TO START AT THE BEGINNING OF A LEVEL WHEN I DIE?! And and... and OTHER CHARACTERS TO PLAY AS? AND NEW SKINS FOR THEM ALL TOO?!

I can be a half-wit pickle character that frocklicks through stages and look derpy as f***.

I think I'm going to cry.

Love the overall feel of the game and the music in each level is pretty awesome.
Pretty challenging and takes some practice to get the hang of it, but quite rewarding if u can get it right.
Love the retro levels u can access if u have managed to find the old cartridge.
Not sure about the 15euro price tag, but if u can get it on sale you totally should!

Certainly a game far and above its predecessor. Looks better, plays better, has more variety and better design overall. Unfortunately it has the opposite problem as RUNNER; it can tend to drag, and there might be a bit too many levels. Granted, I think this problem is only an issue for achievement-hunting people like myself, but it still really got tiring to play this near the end. The three difficulty modes might be a bit unnecessary, easy is an absolute joke and is barely fun due to how much there isn't to avoid. Hard at least stayed decently fun throughout though it's not as hard as the original RUNNER even at its hardest points (maybe for the better, though). I've said a lot about the negatives but they're really minor, honestly, since I enjoyed this game a lot for most of the time I spent playing it and I don't regret playing it, it's about as good as runner-type games are ever going to get.
