If you're going to pay $3 for the Battle DLC, you might as well download the "Super Sonic Adventure 2: The New Challengers" mod while you're at it. It lets you play as Amy, Metal Sonic, Tikal, Chaos, and the 2 Chao Mechs in the singleplayer game and the chao garden. It definitely made my 180 emblem run a lot more enjoyable.

It's a little idiotic to have it as DLC, why not just make the game 13 dollars?

It's weird how "Battle" portion is being sold as a DLC when decade ago it was included in the GameCube version. If you want to play Sonic Adventure 2: Battle instead of Sonic Adventure 2, then you will need to buy this DLC.

I'm sorry, but I had to choose "No" as my recommendation. Even if the DLC's content is okay (multiplayer stages, Chao Karate etc.), I find this kind of practice rather disgusting and this DLC should've been included with the base game, just like how it was in GameCube version.

This is an enhanced add-on for Sonic Adventure 2. It adds improved graphics, visual changes to menus, more unlockables, more multiplayer options, and a plethora of new additions to the Chao garden. I highly recommend this for fans of the Chao garden.

This game is definitely one of my favorites. It has kept me entertained throughout my childhood, as well as, my college career. Unfortunately, this version of the game was not playable for my me, as both controller and keyboard had significant delay between keypress and response from the game. In my searching for a solution, it appears as though it is unlikely that the issues currently being experience in this port will be fixed. Therefore, I cannot recommend this particular version of the game. However, give it a try on another system or even an emulator. It's worth it.

So you guys removed base game content and you made us buy DLC for full experience? Foolishness Sega.... Foolishness...

OK now for the real review.
So i guess that this DLC replaces Dreamcast version of SA2 with GC one. Menus look better, character themes are enabled, Chao karate is available and bunch of 2P characters and levels.

Character themes: There are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Ivo Robotnik(Eggman), and Shadow theme. Finally, i can listen to Kouji Yusa's awesome voice everywhere! But.... How the hell do i get Maria's theme!?

Chao Karate: Can't go wrong with Chao's!

2P battle: More awesome speed, treasure hunting, and mech battle levels. Now you can play as Tikal, Chaos, Metal Sonic, Amy, Dark Chao and Regular Chao. Too bad there is no online feature....

Overall: It's pretty cheap so you definitely can't go wrong with it. I would still prefer this to be in a game from beginning, but whatever, SA2 is legendary game and I'm still waiting for.... Number 3! Why nobody knows to count to 3? Half Life fans are still waiting and SA fans are also waiting. Sega, throw Sonic Boom in garbage and give me my god damn SA3!

Here I come!
Rougher than Knuckles!
The best of them!
Tougher than Knuckles!
You can call me Knuckles!
Unlike Knuckles, I don't chuckle!
I'd rather flex my knuckles!
I'm hard as Knuckles! It ain't hard to chuckle!
I break them whether they're Knuckles or Knuckle.
Unlike Knuckles, I'm independent since the first chuckle!
First Knuckles, feel the Knuckles, then the Knuckle chuckle!

Would I recommend this "DLC"? Yes and no. If you want to 100% this game and get all of the achievements you NEED this "DLC". If you want a better multiplayer experience and/or you want Chao karate then, yes, I recommend this "DLC". But for everyone else? No, it's not necessary. The menus are much cooler with the "DLC" though. But this "DLC" shouldn't of been removed from this port in the first place.

When they said Battle, they weren't kidding. This DLC adds additional multiplayer content such as characters and stages. It also allows you to force your Chao to fight for prizes.

It also changes the menu cosmetics to those of the Gamecube version.

do i like what the dlc includes for its price, the answer would be yes if it wasn't for one big issue, ALL OF THE STUFF INCLUDED IN THE DLC SHOULD NOT BE DLC. the reason i say this is that i personaly believe that if there was content introduced in an earlier version of the game AS STANDERD, than future versions of the game should either include that content AS STANDERD or simply noy include it at all. every thing included in this DLC pack is merly the enhancments that where include in sonic adventure 2 battle for the gamecube that simply came with the base game FOR FREE. imagine if they decided to rerelese deus ex human revelution but took all the content included in the directors cut and turned it into dlc, its just shamless moneygrabbing and the only reason that i have it is because it came in the sonic hits collection. however the base game is still very fun.

Battle doesn't really add much to the single player game (that I know of), other than Chao Karate if you're into raising the little guys. I'm not sure what features of the Gamecube version were put into the base edition of the SA2 PC we got and what gets added back with the DLC, but here's a link with info for the curious.

This is probably a better buy if you do the local-only 2P mode in the base game already since it expands upon that with more stages and more characters. Playing as different people is kinda fun, though it's a shame we can't take them to the Single Player part of the game...

Oh wait.

If you want to experience an "old" game back from the early year of 2001, but never had a chance to test it.
I'd say it's worth it!!!
As a fan, I really like this game, the story is good, and the characters are awesome!
