This DLC Expands upon Adventure 2, and it's great. The original dreamcast title was great, but this makes it better. If you own SONIC ADVENTURE 2, GET THE BATTLE DLC.
Or you're gonna have a.. ok time...

The Downlodable content was already in the game, the gamecube version of the game had all this content already, the Dreamcast version didnt have all the content that the DLC offers, but the DC version was $39.99, the GC was $49.99 (on my country at least) when it released, and yep they were worth, this game paid itself on that time, and that may justify The battle DLC on this port of the game, but still , i dont mind dropping 1 buck more for this cool features

I don't understand why this is seperate as DLC, I guess it's because Sonic Adventure 2 was the original. Either way I grew up with Sonic Adventure Battle 2 and not having this part just makes the game feel incomplete for me. It's not that much extra but I still find it annoying. I guess I'll have to be happy they even offered this.

Regardless, if you aren't a die hard Sonic fan nor want to 100% this game with achievements, then you don't need this. As for me, I'm happy to have a chance to replay this game again.
(But then you will be missing out on changing the voice narrator. Shadow talking menu options is great!)

You might as well make this game whole to get the full experience. So yes, I'd recommend it. If not, you're not missing out on much anyway.

If you're a fan of old fasion sonic games,I nominate this game! It has a classic appeal to certain gameplay aspects to the first sonic adventure with up-d models and also features chao raising, but can not make names on you own. Both sides feature three characters each side on the hero and dark storys. If you're a sonic fan then I approve this game to you!

I'll just start with my only negative about this port: In Wild Canyon Big isn't there anymore with or without the dlc. In the Battle Pack there's a ring and in the regular there's NOTHING!!!
Anyway the rest of the game's great ***** (5 Stars)

Sonic adventure 2 battle DLC is just the features added in sonic adventure 2 battle for gamecube in DLC form. Dunno why this wasnt a free update but it's worth it.

I'd only reccommend buying this DLC if you have some leftover money in your steam wallet while its on sale. Bought it for $.74 and I still think it was a ripoff for something that should have been in the base game.

Would I recommend this "DLC"? Yes and no. If you want to 100% this game and get all of the achievements you NEED this "DLC". If you want a better multiplayer experience and/or you want Chao karate then, yes, I recommend this "DLC". But for everyone else? No, it's not necessary. The menus are much cooler with the "DLC" though. But this "DLC" shouldn't of been removed from this port in the first place.

Well, sonic and shadow's gameplay is geat! knuckles and rouge stages take me about 11 minutes which makes me want to vomit my guts out but the gameplay is alright. Oh boy, tails and eggman, I get how eggman is in a mech! WHY IS TAILS?! of course almost everyone knows tails originally wasn't going to be playable, but fans left sonic team no other choice but to add him---AS AN EGGMAN CLONE!
Well atleast the chao garden is okay, it is kind of the same as in the original sonic adventure. and don't even get me started on the cutscenes! the animation is alright, the lip syncing doesn't fit and the music in these cutscenes ARE CRANKED UP TO THE MAXIMUM! I CANNOT HEAR WHAT THE CHARACTERS ARE SAYING AT ALL! only rarely you would hear the characters talk, the songs in the cutscenes over lap the dialogue.

so yes, if i were you, i would buy this game, it has a great plot, but like i said, sonic and shadow stages are perfect, knuckles and rouge is okay and tails and eggman stages are fine. so if i would you, i would buy this game for that really cheap price.

So you guys removed base game content and you made us buy DLC for full experience? Foolishness Sega.... Foolishness...

OK now for the real review.
So i guess that this DLC replaces Dreamcast version of SA2 with GC one. Menus look better, character themes are enabled, Chao karate is available and bunch of 2P characters and levels.

Character themes: There are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Ivo Robotnik(Eggman), and Shadow theme. Finally, i can listen to Kouji Yusa's awesome voice everywhere! But.... How the hell do i get Maria's theme!?

Chao Karate: Can't go wrong with Chao's!

2P battle: More awesome speed, treasure hunting, and mech battle levels. Now you can play as Tikal, Chaos, Metal Sonic, Amy, Dark Chao and Regular Chao. Too bad there is no online feature....

Overall: It's pretty cheap so you definitely can't go wrong with it. I would still prefer this to be in a game from beginning, but whatever, SA2 is legendary game and I'm still waiting for.... Number 3! Why nobody knows to count to 3? Half Life fans are still waiting and SA fans are also waiting. Sega, throw Sonic Boom in garbage and give me my god damn SA3!

Here I come!
Rougher than Knuckles!
The best of them!
Tougher than Knuckles!
You can call me Knuckles!
Unlike Knuckles, I don't chuckle!
I'd rather flex my knuckles!
I'm hard as Knuckles! It ain't hard to chuckle!
I break them whether they're Knuckles or Knuckle.
Unlike Knuckles, I'm independent since the first chuckle!
First Knuckles, feel the Knuckles, then the Knuckle chuckle!

When they said Battle, they weren't kidding. This DLC adds additional multiplayer content such as characters and stages. It also allows you to force your Chao to fight for prizes.

It also changes the menu cosmetics to those of the Gamecube version.

do i like what the dlc includes for its price, the answer would be yes if it wasn't for one big issue, ALL OF THE STUFF INCLUDED IN THE DLC SHOULD NOT BE DLC. the reason i say this is that i personaly believe that if there was content introduced in an earlier version of the game AS STANDERD, than future versions of the game should either include that content AS STANDERD or simply noy include it at all. every thing included in this DLC pack is merly the enhancments that where include in sonic adventure 2 battle for the gamecube that simply came with the base game FOR FREE. imagine if they decided to rerelese deus ex human revelution but took all the content included in the directors cut and turned it into dlc, its just shamless moneygrabbing and the only reason that i have it is because it came in the sonic hits collection. however the base game is still very fun.

Battle doesn't really add much to the single player game (that I know of), other than Chao Karate if you're into raising the little guys. I'm not sure what features of the Gamecube version were put into the base edition of the SA2 PC we got and what gets added back with the DLC, but here's a link with info for the curious.

This is probably a better buy if you do the local-only 2P mode in the base game already since it expands upon that with more stages and more characters. Playing as different people is kinda fun, though it's a shame we can't take them to the Single Player part of the game...

Oh wait.

Sonic Adventure 2's Battle DLC adds more content the the base game (Dreamcast version) to make it more like the Gamecube version. Here's a list of the new content:
-New Intro, Title Screen, and Menus
-Theme Selection
-Chao Karate
-New 2P Battle Characters and Stages.
I totally recommend this for anyone that wants to experience the full game.

I would recommend this to every diehard Sonic fan! Even if you are new and bought the base game (Diehards will do it without question) you will love Sonic Adventure 2 Battle! What I like:
  • Chao Karate,
  • New characters,
    pretty much all it has!
But multiplayer I can't get to work because my friends don't have it. But anyway, this I think is the best DLC ever for a Sonic game!

Bit cheeky selling this as a DLC but hey they're a business.

Seems to be a good pack and it just provides a little boost to the basic game, which I would assume is literally the Gamecube add-ons.

Probably worth snapping up certainly if it's on offer or you are particularly into local multiplayer or chao karate! :)

This DLC adds a game content that Gamecube "Battle" version of a game had over Dreamcast one. And that means multiplayer levels, multiplayer characters (no, not single-player ones!) and a Chao Karate for those who even care about chao to begin with.

So, while it's nasty for Sega not to provide such content to base game to begin with, it's not something that majority of players will want anyway.
Multiplayer is local, so you need friends who want to play this game to begin with (If you can find, seeing that general perception of Sonic games is that it always sucks).
And Chao Karate isn't interactive enough for action players, no more than races, so only for those who want more Chao stuff.
Can recommend it to only those two kinds of people.

Oh, yea, and because of Chao Karate, you need this DLC to get all emblems, thus also getting achievement (important for 100% crazies) and thus also getting bonus level, which requires getting all emblems and thus 99.1% (true number, I checked global achievement stats) of people will never get it.

I guess that it also means that this DLC is required to access Green Hill bonus level. You have to get all the emblems to get it after all.

No negatives to content itself though.
