One of my favorite strategy games just solely for the really well done story. The game mechanics are great and the levels are fun. I fully recomend playing it.

Holy jesus. This game is one of the greatest games ive ever played. Nukes, RTS, Cold War turned WW3. Its like C&C Generals, but different and awesome at being different. Hard to explain.

An excellent game, one of the best RTS/RTT titles out ever. Shame it got all but killed off by Ubisoft just to give a better chance to their train wreck known as Tom Clancy's EndWar.

In case you missed the story of what happened to World in Conflict, let me give you a short rundown.
World in Conflict comes out in 2007 and quickly becomes one of the best received games that year. Gameplay is fantastic, performance considering graphics is phenomenal and multiplayer is better than ever (and that's with a great singleplayer campaign). Things are looking pretty good for Massive. They announce a expansion pack called Soviet Assault that would bring the game over to consoles and add the Soviet campaign into the game. For people who wouldn't buy it and instead choose to stick with the vanilla game, it'd mean free content in multiplayer. The game continues to receive constant patches and free new maps.

Around the same time, Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy's EndWar. It was a console exclusive aimed at trying to make RTS genre work with controllers (for that they went with voice commands). Unfortunately for them, World in Conflict was looking to beat them in that regard with their new expansion pack.

In 2008, Activision Blizzard came to be. They decided to close down or sell off some studios. Massive, being owned by Sierra, was one of the victims of that. And that's when Ubisoft came in. Massive and World in Conflict brand got sold off to Ubisoft. What followed this was a delay of Soviet Assault for unknown period of time and somewhat lucklustre support of new free content. The player base began to slowly decrease over time. EndWar came out on consoles and turned out to be exactly what it looked in trailers - mediocre at best. That said, it sold well at the time, if memory serves well. Eventually Soviet Assault was released in 2009, but at that point console support was dropped. The whole situation was rather bittersweet. The game got a few more maps in multiplayer and new Soviet missions that were integrated into the original campaign.

At that point, Massive went off everybody's radar. For the lack of a better term, the studio became a sweatshop of DLC content and assets for Ubisoft games as far as I can tell. The Division was their first own project that'd involve an actual game and judging by everyone's current reaction in Steam, it was a train wreck (which isn't particularly surprising, considering that Ubisoft was the publisher, and Massive worked with three other studios on the same project).

tl;dr You're looking at the obituary of a great game, courtesy of Ubisoft. You can still experience the singleplayer campaign, but alas the multiplayer servers have been shut down. The only way you can try it out for yourself is LAN games that get organised once in a while.

Hands down one of the best RTS games ever made, even though its not a unit building type games as Command & Conquer or Company of Heroes genre, still a very enjoyable game. Wish they could have made a sequel.

As of 2016 and windows 10, this game does not work.
If you have played this game on release, you know it had a nice story and good gameplay in the campaign.
The MP was sometimes epic and pretty good.

Now, Ubisoft closed the servers and doesnt support this game anymore.
Making this game unplayable on modern pc's (dx 10, windows 10).
Thats also the reason you cannot buy this game anymore on steam.

THE BEST RTS I HAVE EVER PLAYED

Great game, good story, innovative controls, good pace for an RTS, great online play.

If you haven’t played this game then you are missing out 10/10

As of 2016 and windows 10, this game does not work.
If you have played this game on release, you know it had a nice story and good gameplay in the campaign.

2011年寒假在家无聊的时候从三大妈下载了这款游戏,从此一发不可收。那年春节,我在隆隆的炮声中度过。

-第一眼看过去,它与《战争游戏》非常相似。其实《冲突世界》更侧重于兵种的搭配和使用,而缺乏一定的策略性,也不会有宏观上的战略操作来“难为”玩家。换言之,它上手更简单。

-作为一个07年的老古董,它的画面效果在当时可以用惊艳来形容(起码08年配的机器全效是跑不顺的)。声音逼真,建模细腻;人物有完整的战术动作表现;坦克履带碾压带起的尘土、呼啸的子弹打在装甲上擦出的火星都可以清楚看到。

-背景设定在1989年冷战末期,美苏经过多年的军备竞赛关系剑拔弩张。苏联在东欧各国独立呼声日渐高涨、联盟岌岌可危的情况下,兵分两路入西欧和美国,意图将内部矛盾向外转移。美国联合欧盟仓促应战,并逐渐扭转颓势,最终打退了苏联的进攻。(标准剧情 ) 美苏阵营都有独立的战役关卡,玩家将在其中扮演一名基层指挥官参与到战争中去。任务类型涵盖了突击、占点、防守以及小股部队渗透破坏等。 同时剧情也突出刻画了战争对每个人造成的影响:不论军官还是基层士兵,对家人的思念、对战争的恐惧和反思以及高涨的爱国情绪。每一个人物都没有正面形象,但通过细节和情感的描写而变得丰满。而且,对☭强大的宣传攻势也有描写。

-游戏主要分为单位和支援两块。玩家除了可以使用各兵种进行火拼外,还可以呼叫强大的火力支援来进行精确的远程打击。

-单位分为步兵、装甲、支援和陆航四个军种。美、苏、欧盟是各成一派使用独立的制式装备,尽管在单位数量上不及《战争游戏》丰富,而且装备基本都是上个世纪末的,显得有些过时,但总体的战术思想和协同作战方式与今日相比没有太大变化。

-步兵配备两种步兵班组合以及狙击手,辅以少量步兵战车,隐蔽性好但也同样脆弱,最考验操作;装甲作为部队的中坚力量,以轻、中、重三个级别的坦克作为主要装备,是突击和防御的主力;支援装备包括轻、重型自走炮以及修理车、卡车等,为前方部队提供必要的火力支援、运输以及修理工作;陆航以武装直升机作为主要装备,火力强大机动性好,但数量不多且价格昂贵。

-《冲突世界》中没有任何货币和资源采集,是靠消耗增援点数来获取单位。(这一点与战争之人相同)增援点数可以通过消灭敌军单位/占领据点获得,也会随着时间缓慢增长。一般来说你能控制的部队规模非常小:通常一个单位的存活时间也不会太长,所以你会不断地消灭敌人,但又不断地损失,购买新单位会保证你处于一个收支平衡的状态,使得玩家之间对战时不会产生数量上的压倒性优势。

-支援系统可以提供包括小到火炮覆盖,大到小型战术核武器在内的远程无障碍打击。攻击方式多种多样,针对的目标也不同。火力支援虽然强大,但也存在缺点:冷却较长的时间;需要消耗一定的点数;高级别的支援手段要达到一定时间才可以解锁;虽然可以在全地图范围使用,但无法忽略战争迷雾。

-支持多人对战,并内置语音。跟歪果仁玩过几次,不过我的延迟惨不忍睹,只能玩玩支援,修车是赶不上了,恶心的是撸炮的时候,因为延迟,等我的炮弹飞过去,敌人早撤了,而负责追击的队友刚好进入了火力圈。

冲突世界的战役部分共有14个关卡,虽然每关主次任务众多,但总体长度仍然偏短,对可以选用的单位类型限制过多,数量过少,如果不算步兵,装甲单位和直升机加起来一般不会超过10个单位,但每关需要消灭的敌人却相当之多,到后期战役每关甚至需要摧毁苏军上百辆坦克,此外,我方还要分兵防守支离破碎的所谓战略点,每个正面上投入的兵力捉襟见肘,然而只要注意维修,培养单位的经验值,竟然还能实现零伤亡,虽然战术支援的确取到了一定的作用,但大多是用来对付固定集群和固定目标,消灭对方喜欢穿插的装甲部队主要靠的还是弱化坦克的攻击力实现的,这样就给了维修车辆大量的时间来修理单位,勉强支持战局不致崩溃。在任务中,AI的主要战术就是装甲部队毫无章法的分批投入,疯狂突击,步兵冲锋的时间远少于开火的时间,这给了玩家很多碾压步兵的机会,炮兵虽然能够压制步兵,但是每个任务中除了购买其他单位,用来炮兵的资金实在太少,1到2门火炮实现不了炮火覆盖,要摧毁一个阵地上的敌军所耗的时间太多,而任务中经常会有时间限制,使用火炮远不如坦克部队直接冲锋来的有效而迅速,而且火炮有射程死角,必须和前线保持一定距离,如果敌方一穿插,周围又没有友军单位,很容易被人摧毁,再次空投容易拖慢进度,因此在任务中,火炮几乎就是鸡肋的代名词。任务中的时间限制偶尔出现能够强调紧迫感,但出现的次数过多,就给人一种疲于奔命、十分厌烦的感觉,影响了许多战术的应用。游戏中的战略点防御设置也不太合理,常常是抢时间夺取并守住了一个战略点,结果建造的防御建筑却脆弱不堪,对方几辆坦克就可突破,上级却认为已经控制了这片区域,让部队调到其他方向去进攻,丝毫不理会刚夺取地区的得失与否。友军指挥的部队远甚于玩家,但几乎从来不维修单位,刻意营造一种笨拙的紧张局面,以凸显玩家的重要性,与其如此,还不如增加可供指挥的单位数量,进行更好的防御
