It's relatively laggy, at least for the sorts of game I like to make. It does what it claims to, but you've got to understand that you dont have the capabilties that you do making your typical standalone executable. That's mostly as a result of Javascript being slower that whatever other forms GMK normally compiles to. Additionally, when it hits a bug, it doesn't really let you know, so debugging becomes a bit more difficult.
Also, I got it on triple double discount for a fraction of the current $200 price. Dont pay $200 for this. $200 is an idiotic price when so many competetors are free.
That said, the jump to being able to drop things into a browser is wonderful, and I don't regret my purchase. Whether it's worth the steep price is up to you.

BOTTOM LINE: It's expensive and kinda slow, but it still works, and that can still be worth it to the right person.

The HTML5 export is a must have for game maker. It builds fast, performance is way above expected and storage usage is really reduced which is what is hoped from a HTML5 version of a game. The only other 2 really strong game engines in the market are Unity and U4 and on the HTML5 2D world, they are WAY behind. Game Maker (with the HTML5 Export is your best option for putting games on facebook or Chrome Web Store). Lets not forget that not all browsers have full HTML5 capabilities and therefore we should not expect the same performance on all of them(Chrome is currently the best one).
