If you're someone who's new to coding then maybe you should try gamemaker. Buying modules and keeping up with constantly changing eulas will teach you about vendor lock-in. I haven't used it in a while. The Professional version used to lift restrictions on the number of levels, sprites, and scripts ect. Now it doesn't seem to do much of anything.

For the most part it's nice but there are certain restrictions, esp when it comes to tilemaps for rooms. Also be warned that if there is a bug in a certain feature or class you need for your game you are at the mercy of YoYo games to fix it whenever they get around to it. When I was developing for this about 8 months ago there was a problem with the extended sprite class that totally ruined a feature I wanted. I switched to haxe flixel and OpenFL. And guess what? I get to compile to Android and iOS for free.

So if you're totally new to any kind of coding give it a shot. It's also good for super-quick prototyping, but don't bother if you want to release games with it. Maybe if you're Vlambeer, but I wouldn't recommend it for the long-term.

GameMaker: Studio™ is one of "easily game-making" software. This software can let you make games by using program languages (like HTML5 and etc), and targeting many platforms ( iOS, Android, Windows Phone and etc.) I recommend "Professional Version". if you work with "Professional Version", you will get good-quality services (Texture Management, Developer Services, Mobile Testing.. and etc) that aren't in "Free" and "Standard Version", and you will be available to get more products like HTML5, Linux, iOS, Android.

You can learn and start to make your games with demos, tutorials that YoYo Games gives you, and user's guides in Internet.

is it needed programming knowledges? no, Drag-on-Drop system helps you to make games without prev programming knowledges. Also, In programming of GameMaker, It is easy for everyone.
