Initial positive impression, as soon as I got into chapter 3 things went sour. Overall, not touching it again. TLDR on the bottom.
+ Decent storytelling, somewhat involved.
+ Comments from Lady Katarina are pretty amusing.
+ Good pacing, good attribute system, fairly decent itemization (by comparison, MILES ahead of Diablo 3).
- Little enemy variety, weird incoming damage at times.
- Skill variety on the Hunter class is extremely poor. A handful of reskinned shots, didn't really feel progression or much weight from using differerent skills. Same deal goes for the melee tree.
- BUGS. Oh the bugs. One of my hunter tricks crashed multiplayer games when I hosted, had to respec / avoid using skill to keep playing. The "slow time" skill on the Thaumaturge often bugged entire maps, lasting forever and then on a second cast engaging turbo mode. Random client crashes every 20-30 minutes.
TLDR: The game is not entirely bad, but does not warrant a positive review. If you want the hack and slash experience and don't mind restarting the game every 30 minutes or so, go ahead. It's built on a solid foundation, but lacks the necessary polish to be a true contender in this genre.
