Mid: Anolian/Naga
High: Agav/Pom Spider

New this week:
June Renewal Lucky Box
Preliminary contents to be posted soon, please make sure you've posted what you'd like to see in our thread here
On Thor server, we will make one more free stat reset available so please use it wisely!
The name change box is usable again! Thank you for your patience, we have recently received the fix from kRO regarding this item.

===CLASSIC===

Changes:
Maya Purple Card Added to event WoE Block
Next week we will turn off alliance protection in Event WoE. (this means allies will not be protected from being hit).
Fixing a error that prevented the Hazy Forest from being implemented last week.
Updating Boxter
Greyworld being patched out.

We have reviewed Greyworld and its effect on playing the game. Unfortunately the edit has had a negative impact of WoE as it no longer allows players to attempt to hide behind terrain. Due to this players have until Aug 1st to stop using this edit.
Classic's maintenance starts at 2pm PDT and continues until 6pm. We are experimenting with separating Classic's maintenance time and eventually day from Renewal.

About This Game

In the world of Rune Midgard, it was a time of strife between the Gods, Humans and demons...

Battle weary from the long war's carnage, the factions entered into an uneasy truce. The truce grew into a fragile peace that lasted for a thousand years.

As the memory of that great war faded into legend, the humans began to fall back into the corruption, selfishness and arrogance that they had once risen above.

Breaking this time of tranquility is the sudden strange howl that tore through the boundaries dividing the Gods, Humans and Demons. Once peaceful creatures began to attack villages, and violent earthquakes ripped whole continents apart.

Sinister corporations to the north engage in twisted genetic experiments and the recent discovery of a pan dimensional portal has opened up amazing new adventures.

With the Ragnarok threatening to destroy Rune Midgard, adventurers are needed to step up and battle against the forces of Chaos. Join your friends in exploring the world and build your own legend in RO!

*Steam login designed for new accounts registered through the Steam service.

Key Features

Hybrid 2D/3D Graphics
One of the first things noticed about RO is that the character and player models are sprite based while the towns, fields and dungeons are polygonal. This gives RO a unique visual style that hearkens back to the golden age of console RPGs.

Extensive PVE and PVP content
Whether you want to hunt down the toughest monsters in Rune Midgard or engage in our bi-weekly Guild vs. Guild War of Emperium, Ragnarok Online has over 10 years worth of content, including new maps, new classes, challenging instanced dungeons and PVP arenas and Battlegrounds.

Extensive class system
Every player starts out as a novice class character, from there you choose a class. Multiple branching paths when you level up adds up to a total of 32 classes, each with their own specific abilities. From the hard-hitting Monk to the Robot riding Mechanic, there is a class for every type of player.

Make your character your own
Character's skills stats are completely customizable with each choice ultimately changing the direction a character will take. Combinated with many different job choices this allows characters to be unique adventurers in the world of Ragnarok Online.

Forge, brew and sell
Merchant class characters can open shops, and put items up for sale in a totally player driven economy. In addition, certain classes can craft high level equipment and consumables.

Weekly events and updates
RO is updated every week with fun new things for players to do, and we have major quests and events added every month.

Passionate Community
The RO fanbase was established in the early 2000s and we have many players who have been with us since the game's early days. We have quests, in-game art and events that come directly from our extremely creative community.

I love this game. I have been a Ragnarok Online fan for several years. They changed a game a lot in the renewal, but I like the third classes. I have not been back for a while, but I definitely suggest it as an MMORPG even if it is 'old.' I hope you at least give it a try. ♥

I love this game, it gives you such a feeling of freedom to adventure into uncanny lands with it's beautiful music and wide open world and spaces.
It's excelent to lose yourself into the phantasy world for a while and have fun exploring and both fighting or running from monsters.
Good to play alone or with a party.

You jump in, make a character, smash pink tiddies and find a group of people to smash non-pink tiddies with, all in your own pace and without an array of boring quests.

For over 12 years, no other MMO has managed to redo this simple yet efficiently fun concept.

This review is on certain parts of the community and usefulness to new or interested players. (For the record, I have invested several weeks into the game by now. I just use the exe from the installation folder to bypass Steam's account creation requirement)

On to business: Ragnarok's main server Chaos, the most popolar Renewal server, isn't very accomodating to new players or returning players. The entire time I played I saw folks chatting to each other a grand total of twice. Oweing to the fact that half of the players are dual client shops, this still gives about 1500 active players who must already have their cliques or guilds and chat privately only. So, if you planned on asking questions to find out where to go in the very open world that is Ragnarok, plan to feel rather isolated.

If you plan on visiting the forums, you will find that there seems to be an internal war of sorts between newcomers and veteran players, where new players don't truly feel welcome. This is very unfortunate, as I too am a returning player and I wanted to reinvest myself into the game, but have decided it is not worth my time.

Don't expect timely updates in game, as it seems that the folks in charge of placing updates have to follow a specific schedule that is several months behind their Asian counterparts, which leaves players exposed to bugs and poor update planning.

Based on these observations, I thus cannot recommend this game to new players, which is very sad for me as I wear thick nostalgia goggles from playing as a child. only play this if you have plyaed iRO in the past and are widely experienced with it.

AMAZING game.

So many memories. From the begging for money and parties to lvl up, to the huge raids onto super hard dungeons, to the pvp, and the general chatting with your party after a large quest to kill a boss at 5 a.m. this game is really fun.

BUT i wouldnt recommend you dedicate your life to lvl a character in this version (vanilla) cuz the exp rates are insanely low.

I recommend you to download a server with increased exp and item rates, they come in x5 for the hardcore MMO fans to the x100 for the more casual players, and most of them are free and in any languague you look for them.

Played this for eight years on a private server previously called AnimaRO. It went from that to AnimusRO, AnesisRO and now it's apparently JellyRO. I had so many memories playing this game. I wasn't aware it was on Steam until a year or so ago and played a bit. The EXP rates and leveling are slow as hell I will admit. So different from the 5x/5x/3x rates I was used to. Overall I recommend this game to anyone. The music and lore are great and the monsters range from adorable to creepy as hell. Graphics are pretty good for a game that came out in the 90s. Classes are the usual RPG fare.

A game with good music, a variety of zones and classes, buttloads of interesting monsters and cultural references.

Aside from that, it's an insufferable grindfest. This isn't a path you should embark upon. Other games will give you much more joy and satisfaction for your time and effort. This will give very little, and you will work so very hard.

I would consider recommending this game if the exp rates weren't so laughable.

They are a joke! Haha!

If you are a new player... and you want to play this game and be good at something (pvp, woe, mvp....sometimes even pve) prepere to pay $$.
if you just wanna have fun lvling and being isolated from society (because everything is way overpriced and you wont be able to afford almost anything soo no one will want you in there party...) than its an ok game.
when RO came out a very long time ago it was an amazing game because it was fair and fun to play and you didnt have to marry the game with your wallet.... but now days... i suppose its a trand for games to be P2W.
id realy prefer to pay money to buy the game and not to have all this in-game items crap that makes you OP for some cash.
RIP RO it was fun while it lasted.

Playing RO for around 10 years.

Ragnarok Online is good, it's a good time killer with very friendly community
(Even tho the game is "anime-ish" there are not so many weebs as you could think)
Ragnarok Online 2 is a terrible sequel, don't even bother trying it since you will regret it.
Ragnarok Online on Steam (which is called iRO), is bad in my personal opinion. It might be good if you're playing for the first time and can't figure out what to do, but the amount of bots, donate items, premium features and lag make recommend you to also try other servers.
