Great engine, amazing games, easy to use tool.
I fully reccomend this.

Only one complaint I have is an issue with my actual purchase, not anything to do with software. (i dont have the ubuntu pack even though i purchased the professional edition, purchased years ago though so It probably wasnt a bundle at the time, oh well.)

Get this. 10/10

I purchased this few years back to test my hand at it and I have to say that I am loving this program. Very easy to use once you get the hang of things, and a lot of videos out there to help you get started.

This is an amazing software it's very useful for creating video games. It's good to start off with making video games. I would recommend looking at HeartBeast's tutorials for any of you who are absolute beginners.

GameMaker is inspiring not only because of the countless tools it gives you, but also the many amazing games that have come from this engine.

A word of advice: never hesitate when you get the chance to look at another game's source code. There's nothing like looking at a finished game and deconstructing it, learning different styles of code and programming. Like looking at paintings in order to learn to draw.

Personally, I love making roguelike dungeon games with this software, however it's good for other game types too!

+Carries Order Up
+Cook, Serve, Delicious
+Box Maze game listed below,
+ GREAT program for platformers, this was the start of Spelunky!
+ Also good for shoot-em ups! Making enemies dodge bullets and attack with them is literally the best thing I can do with my time, its so fun to mess with!

It can be used to make iphone/android software, as well as games for ubuntu, linux and macs.
I believe theres even a dlc you can download to make games that suport Windows phones too!

Theres tons of tutorials around, and some source codes are almost always around as well.
I find most of my information on youtube from Benjamin Anderson, as I really like his teaching style, but Shaun Spalding is well known too. They're both english speakers who are REALLY good explaining code and how it all works together. Definately give it a try!

I have no complaints, it's a free software for beginners to learn game code, and has a built-in index with examples for searching when you can't figure out what a code does. I recently made a game that works with the gamepad, and I'm excited to see what I can do with that.

If you want to go out further and buy the full, its often on sale, I personally bought the full on Humble Bundle's site for $15. It's worth it if you wanna make some fun games! :D

i made a game... an ultimately unninteresting, overwhelmingly short, juvenile, boring and simplistic game, but a game nonetheless, since im no programing expert i'll review the product "i" made so lets begin.
the story is about a guy, and he picks up a giant peach. the end...
i like that the peach is the motivation/ goal of the protagonist, since to me, i think peaches are a beautiful thing, they look like butts, small, scrumptious and edible butts. its a thing of beauty, and i think the narrative reminds me to a "rags to riches" style of story, because the protagonist hopes of reaching beauty, and ultimately i think that's cool too.
the controls are intuitive enough, you move with whatever i mapped the buttons to. now the challenge comes with just.
how mentally challenged you are... that's a mean joke and im sorry.
that being said, a newborn can beat this game, in fact speedrun it and get world record...atleast stadistically speaking.
lastly i like the graphic design. the characters are design like a collage of sorts, being composed of several photographs with minimalistic movements on each one, and by minimalistic i mean none... also known as i just took a few pictures from the internet with no context, inculding my profile picture and said it was a legit high quality collage... can i still say i liked it? and say that i will develop the collage concept eventually?
finally i found myself entretained by the game, it never went stale in any way. namely due to it being about 2 to 3 seconds long or as long as you want it to be, but a solid experience overall.
i recommend this game as a recreational tool or to explain what going from point A to point B looks like.
as i said before, i of all people made a game, can i say im proud of myself? obviously not, however i made a piece of interactive entretainment...i didn't actually publish it into a market, but technically this software allows me to do so. so i just have to recommend it to you if you want to make an anything, since it actually gives you a plethera of options to create with. and in my opinion that is amazing.
here's a fourth claim that i made the game in case you didn't hear me repeat myself the last 3 other times.
