Tower Wars Official Season 3 Start + Latest Update Info!!

On the heels of our latest update which introduced NEW MAPS to all play modes and many balance changes within the game, today marks the start of Tower Wars Season 3! Both Season Play and participation is really simple and it doesn't require any special sign-ups or setup. All you need to do is play the game! From here on out, any time you play a Ranked game, it will count toward the current season! Easy! The more you play, the more you have a chance to climb the Season Leaderboard!

Of course, there is still a full suite of options for unranked, bot matches and custom game setups all which are playable on the new maps, so no pressure! We will finalize the end date and reveal prizes soon, so stay tuned!

Tower War Update v.1.1133 Information

New Map

  • We've added a new map for use in ranked/unranked Multiplayer and in Meat vs. Metal -- "Casualty Creek".

Maps added to multiplayer dedicated servers
  • Lava You Deeply (reinstated)
  • Casualty Creek (new)

Game balance update
  • Increased Zoombot’s BP generation by 10%.
  • Buffed Mortimer by 10% to health, armor, and shield. Buffed Gold-level Mortimer by 20% to H/A/S.
  • Reduced gold cost to unlock Mortimer by 10% (leaving BP unlock cost alone).
  • Reduced gold cost to produce a Mortimer by 10%.
  • Removed 10% of Mortimers from scripted waves in single-player "tower defense challenges".
  • Bounties: all tier 3 units and up, gold bounty for killing these units increased to a flat 1/3 of build cost.
  • Increased berserk response to juggling -- units move faster and stay berserk longer, especially with repeated juggling.

Scout Tower:
  • Increased damage boost effect to 15 / 25 / 35%.

Lava Tower:
  • Specialized damage to health and armor; now does minimal damage to shields.
  • Damage-over-time to anyone who walks through, with an extra hit to anyone making a bucket pour.
  • The net result is expected to be a significant upgrade to the damage output of this tower.

Hammer Tower:
  • Increased stun duration to 2 / 2.5 / 3 seconds.

Level 3 Mines and Miners:
  • Reduced cost of a Level 3 miner to 300 gold, 90 BP.
  • Increased the gold disadvantage of Bots 1, 2, and 3, to prevent them from benefiting from this change.

Miscellaneous changes
  • Tips added to loading screens.
  • "Interactive tips" added to bots 1, 2, and 3 -- we chat hints and situational updates to the player.
  • Bots 1 and 2 made easier (slower progress up the tech tree). They are still allowed to win.
  • Clicking on a tower no longer upgrades the tower -- use shift-click to upgrade.
  • Text chat can be disabled. (type /off in the chat window)
  • Music volume reduced while in multiplayer queue.
  • Pre-game "ready" box no longer times out in bot games, so you can go to the fridge during the loading screen.

  • Fixed the elusive random "navmesh" crash.
  • Fixed invisible ready timer in multiplayer games. Now works as before.
  • Fixed text chat disable only working for bot tips. Now works for regular chat too.
  • Fixed high-level bots falsely introducing themselves as low-level bots, promising tips that never happen. Now high-level bots don't chat, as intended.
  • Fixed a bug in Unranked Private Match: if the host selected Random Map, and it picked Lava Mines or Casualty Creek, then the host would see many missing textures.

실시간 대전형 타워디펜스 게임. '스팀펑크 룩의 [Defense Grid] + 멀티 대전' 이라고 할 수 있겠다. 타워를 지어 내 기지를 방어함과 동시에 병력을 업글하고 생산해서 상대방을 공략하는 형식의 타워디펜스 게임이다. 싱글은 봇과 대전하기, 공격 부분이 빠진 고전적인 타워디펜스 모드 두가지이고, 멀티에서는 랭겜, 노말, 코옵을 골라 플레이 할 수 있다. - 랭겜은 자동으로 스팀 계정이 연동된다. - 기본적으로 실시간 대전 게임 이기 때문에 내 타워 업글하고 내 병력 뽑고 업글하고 보내고 하다 보면 마치 rts 하는 것 같은 기분이다. 타워디펜스 애호가들을 위해 디테일한 부분을 적어보자면,

+ 타워로 미로 구성 가능 ([Defense Grid] 같이 타일형 맵에 타워 배치에 따른 적 이동경로 변경)
+ 8종류로 너무 많지 않은 타워 수, 타워 업글은 강화형이며 테크 트리의 양자택일이 없음. (병력 테크트리는 분기 존재)

- 실시간 대전이 기본이다 보니 싱글에서도 일시정지 중 액션을 취할 수 없다.
- 마찬가지로, 게임 배속 조정 옵션이 없다.
- 타워 조작 인터페이스가 불편하다. 타워 업글 단축키가 없어서 마우스로 조작해야 하는데 툭하면 타워 팔기 클릭 됨.
- 세세한 타워 컨트롤 불가능. 모든 타워는 일괄적으로 가장 먼저 보인놈을 때린다. 타겟팅이나 기타 방식 지정 불가.
- 싱글 노 세이브.
- 공격 부분이 없는 '고전 모드' 비중이 작다. 맵 3개가 전부. 고전 스타일의 싱글 플레이를 원하는 유저라면 실망 할 것.

추천 : 타워디펜스 애호가로 [Defense Grid]를 재밌게 했고 비슷한 게임을 또 하고 싶어하는 분, 기지의 운영과 병력 생산 등 매크로 스타일을 좋아하는 rts 유저 - 특히 스1 유즈맵 [생산과 컨트롤]에서 생산 도맡아 하던 분 - , 멀티 대전을 좋아하는 사람.
비추천 : 곧 죽어도 고전적이고 하드코어한 타워디펜스 겜이 아니면 2달러도 아깝다는 타워디펜스 근본주의자. amd 데네브 3.2ghz 수준의 cpu로는 싱글도 버겁다. 데네브 이상의 ipc를 보여주는 멀티코어 cpu 유저여야 60프레임을 장담 할 수 있을 것.

기타 : 윈8.1 64비트에서 잘 돌아감.

다른 타워디펜스 게임처럼 아케이드 모드와 pvp모드가 있습니다.
pvp모드는 생각보다 난이도가 있으며 밸런스도 잘맞습니다.

싱글플레이전용 PVP모드인 AI와 겨루는 모드도 있으며
친구들과 함께 즐길수있는 코옵모드도 있습니다.코옵모드는 최대 3인까지 지원하며 스테이지도 여러가지가 있습니다.

가격도 그렇게 비싼편이 아니며 플레이타임도 생각보다 많이 뽑아내는 게임입니다.

my only take-away from this thread is:

It's far better to pre-release games as alpha, and incorporate many sales to attract a wide-player (tester) base. This game was released in August 2012, so by the time I encountered the bug I saw, it had already been released over half a year. I was playing what was promoted as a released non-alpha, non-beta, polished, clean product.

By telling players "this is just alpha code" - all sorts of bugs are forgiven. It just changes the whole tone, and it also scares players like me away. I don't want to be anybody's alpha or beta tester and pay for it unless the game is extremely compelling. That's just my personal approach as a sonsumer.

So I don't know if my review is a troll. If anyone asked me "do you recommend this game" - my review is exactly what comes to mind when I see this game, especially when I visit the forums and get that dirty message in red at the top. It was a power play by the dev "you didn't follow protocol. Nananana." Or at least that's what it felt like for me getting banned.

Today I played 2 multiplayer games, and I didn't see the issue that had happened before. It's quite possible that the issue has been addressed.

And there's really no point in dwelling on "here's what so and so did wrong". I'd rather find a solution, and for me that solution is, it's much safer to call a game alpha than go through this sort of mess.

You have been permanently banned from all Tower Wars discussions.
You were banned by a Tower Wars developer.
Reason: "Not following protocol to submit a bug report."

This is how this developer treats customers. If the customer runs into a problem with the product, ban them from the forums. Permanently. Which leaves a pretty bad taste in my mouth. I can't recommend a game by a dev who treats people like this.

And for the gory details: my mouse would lock up attached to an object in the middle of games. I couldn't
go to the menus, NOTHING. Multiplayer games would log me as having quit the game, when it was a bug.
Of course NOBODY else saw this bug. Well it turned out, eventually, that I figured out (no thanks to the
devs) that this only happened when my video settings were maxed out (monitor is 2560x1600). So there
was a workaround - and they might have addressed this too.

But I'm still banned from their forums.

[EDIT: It looks like they have indeed added a single player campaign, so I've removed the statement that signle player is missing.]

Avoid this one.

While the game mechanics are fun it gets boring soon.

There are 6 types of maps to play (with some changing gold placings) and when you defeat your first enemy you go to the next level. Which is immediately a harder difficulty. You unlock all your characters and towers in one game.
So the next level is only harder, barely anything new, just harder to defeat.

I very much prefer to play more of a campaign/story line where you don't experience everything at once so there is something interesting to look forward to when you progress in the game.
