About This Game

Daedalic Entertainment, once called “Lucasarts from Germany“ by the GameStar magazine, invites the players into a fantastic comedy adventure that revolves around a crazy love story of Rufus and Goal.

In Deponia, the world has degenerated into a vast garbage dump, in which the crotchety Rufus ekes out his sorry existence. He is part of the lowest social class, doomed to live his life in literal mountains of trash. He hopes for an opportunity to get into the world of the rich, who live in a floating city high above the clouds. Fate seems to smile on the snotty good-for-nothing when one day the attractive lady named Goal from the higher sector plummets into one of the trash heaps. Rufus decides to help the young woman out by taking her back to her husband. When he notices that Goal's husband is a dead ringer for himself, he hatches a diabolical scheme to gain access to the upper world. However, things don't work out quite as planned, since he has feelings for the beauty which limits his usual unscrupulousness.

Help Rufus, the poor boy from the junkyard, to win over the girl from heaven. Only with this rich girl from his dreams he might be able to escape Deponia and, unexpectedly, to save the planet.

Key Features:

  • Unique comic style with hand-drawn HD resolution 2D graphics

  • Unique universe in the tradition of Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), Terry Pratchett (Discworld) and Matt Groening (The Simpsons, Futurama)

  • From the creators of the award-winning games Edna & Harvey: The Breakout, Edna & Harvey: Harvey’s New Eyes and The Whispered World

Deponia brings you back to old times of good adventure games but also shows quality comic book graphics of high detail. It is funny for most time, but also has a couple of serious scenes. A goog recommendation for everyone looking for a good story.

Although I can't say I'm a fan of point and click, I can still appreciate the effort and artistry that went into this project. It's good for those who enjoy the genre but for people expanding their library I wouldn't recommend it unless it's on sale. Story rich and nice designs for art/sound but feels like a childrens game at times due to the simplistic nature and cartoony vibes. Again if you like point and click then you will probably enjoy this but just not my cup of tea.

The good:
+ I love the art style
+ Classic point & click controls
+ Music & sounds fit to the scenery

The bad:
- The protagonist is a thoroughly unlikeable @sshole
- A minor character who's basically a transphobic joke

Verdict:
I really wanted to like this game, seeing the high review % it got (as well as getting the whole series from various bundles), but the protagonist is such an annoying @sshole, that he ruined any fun I could have from this game. It's a bad sign when playing a game feels like a chore. (Extra minus point for the transphobic joke character.)

Dropped.

"Hello there sugarpuff!"

Really fun point and click game. Puzzles were varied, interesting and at timess challenging.

Main character reminds you of that one friend we all have who is so full of him/herself we can't help but to laugh at his/her antics. Dialogue is very creative and funny (hilarious at times) with good voice acting that portrays the characters with authenticity. Also the song that plays between chapters is catchy and interestingly voiced.

Even even you haven't played a point and click game before, I recommend anyone give this game a shot.

I forgot how I got this game but it was a special suprise. I went in knowing nothing about the game but it left me
with a pleasant joy when I played the game, sure the character was very dimwitted, egotistical, greedy, and needy, But!
In the end it felt warm and hearty this game. I would definitely play this game again in the future and going to go play the
sequel shortly after this :P

Note: Some puzzles need to think extremely outside the box, like, outside the planet.

Daedalic is a well-respected name in the P&C (Point & Click) adventure game genre, so I hardly need to introduce them, so I'll just share my experiences with the game.

Pros:
+ Soundtrack and voice acting are a quality experience
+ This of course would be meaningless without quality writing and humor
+ You can double click some places you need to go in order to skip the transitions. Useful when you need to backtrack.
+ The game won't automatically unlock "achievements" on you completing checkpoints, you actually have to find some of them

Cons:
- Some logic leaps in gameplay. (spoiler) Like how am I supposed to know the funnel is the blowpipe when Deponia is a crapsack world with bits of tubing and pipes everywhere? (/spoiler) This will lead to... Trying everything with everything...
- Sometimes going to an out-of-the-way location to pick up something you need to use somewhere else, at the other end

Final Verdict: 90/100
No game is perfect, but Deponia certainly is not a waste of money.

This game is my favorite Point and Click adventure ever. In fact, it*s one of my favorite games ever. Rufus is a lovable, but clumsy and egotistical Idiot and all Characters in this game are funny and rememberable. The Story is really damn enjoyable, the World makes for great puzzling ans is interesting and the Riddles are a very good match between weird, hard, funny and doable. And the Soundtrack. Every time i hear it i want to play it again. Wonderful Game by Daedalic.
