i just have to say one thing...how the hell is possible that this game is rated by GAMESPOT with something like 4 or 3 stars out of 10...im a pretty hardcore gaming guy meaning that i spent tons of time playing games and i find south park srtick of truth an masterpiece in relashion to the tv show and tone, was pretty well done making me jump to the game every single day...did south park made fun of gamespot or do they have relationship problems with each other? ya this game deservs a solid 8.5 or even 9 out of 10...GAMESPOT lost all the credibility to me, i will never buy a game based on GAMESPOT rating anymore, but steam, thank God steam ratings are the most accurate on the gaming world, i couldnt find a dislike of the stick of truth here on steam...thats why i love and i just use steam from now on

The Stick of Truth is one of the most entertaining games I've played in awhile. With four different classes and +100 different pieces of equipment and weapons, there's definitely some replay value with it. However, the most enjoyable aspect of the game is the storyline and references to South Park episodes and characters. I highly recommend for anyone that is a fan of the show.

This game is amazing! I felt like I was watching an interactive episode of South Park.
Oftentimes, turning a TV series or movie into a game is poorly done.
Not this time! The developpers were completely spot on.
You get the same humor, graphics, voices, music and setting as the TV show, incluing a bit of almost all subjects touched in the show, such as (minor spoiler) aliens, kids playing an imaginary game and taking it seriously, school, Canada, Manbearpig .
This content is delivered via a simple yet effective turn based RPG, a game format that lends itself perfectly for this.
The replay value is ok, not great. You get a very different combat experience with a different class, but the story remains the same.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game and am really looking forward to the sequel!

The perfect game for fans of South Park and RPG lovers.

I originally bought this game on Xbox 360 on release day and didn't want to stop playing.
Now, I've bought it on pc and I am enjoying the game once again.
This game is very addicting with its homage to the TV show and the extremely simple but, expanded battle system.
The South Park content not only keeps you moving but makes you laugh along the way.

I love South Park and I love Video games with turn-based battle systems and RPG elements so of course this game is a 10/10!

Before I played this game, I didn't like South Park.

Now I love South Park.

In my opinion, that is pretty much the highest praise that can be given to a licensed game.

(sidenote: it took me about 13 hours to beat this game and do most of the side quests, but I was playing offline some of the time. Just fyi.)

South Park : The Stick Of Truth is a love letter to fans of South Park.
At first i thought this game is just a mindless parody with wonky mechanics.
I was wrong, polished mechanics, ABSOLUTELY funny story line with a lot of swear words.
Amazing turn based system, quests, sidequests, customization, perks and upgradable abilities.
Kind of short for my liking though, but its ok! I will 100% this game someday :D
10/10 Best RPG ever

The gameplay is Baby's First RPG, but everything else is excellent. If you're a fan of the show, it's a must-own. It's basically an interactive, twelve-hour episode (and in the best way possible).

Stray Points:

Zero replayability. Everything is samey and overly-simple for veteran players. Consider this a one-time investment (an excellent one if you can grab it during a sale).

As noted above, if you're a fan, it's a must-own. That's because 70% of the appeal comes from the strange South Park mythos and all of the in-jokes and gags exclusive thereto. And, much like any quotationalist media, the more you know about the show, the funnier the game is. However, if you aren't a fan of the show, you have absolutely no reason to play this game. If you haven't seen the show, the humor may string you along, but the gameplay really isn't enough to sustain interest, otherwise.

A suprisingly engrossing RPG that doesn't end up as a time sink

How on earth Obsidian entertainment managed to make a good RPG out of South Park is beyond me. I knew they were capable game creators but they ended up crafting not just a good game but a great South park episode. You see and visit the whole town with enough interesting set pieces to stop the game becoming stale. Sewers, homes, streets, very small government facilities, very large bedrooms and...well lets just say something that will fly over peoples heads. The really ingenious aspect is having the whole game set whilst all the children in the town are fully engaged in a live action roleplay game pretending to be in a fantasy world of wizards and elves.
What would have been perfectly acceptable as a storyline takes repeated twists and turns, upping the ante until you would need someone like Morgan Freeman to come out and calmly narrate what the hell is going on. Yet at this point it's too late. You're smile is fixed and it's not going away until the credits roll.

They ended up crafting not just a good game but a great South Park episode

The classes seem to end up having less of an effect on how you play but the animations that occur once you perform certain class specific moves. Weapons and armour have noticable differences in abilities and customization allows a suprisingly deep level of item managment. Much like in other games you will feel the pain of loss for replacing your favourite weapon for a statistical upgrade despite the fact you think it looks worse. Only in this game your favourite weapon will, coincidentally, probably end up being your mothers favourite as well.

Gameplay wise Obsidian have crafted a game that absolutely nails the basics but feels to abandon any attempt at advanced tactics or strategies. Whilst you can certainly use items and afflictions to your advantage there doesn't appear to be further challaenges aside from rushing down the apponenet and instead a greater impact is placed or interacting directly in combat in the form of quick time events. Quick time events are usually the bane of any game but here they are used in combat for boosts to attacking and defedning, spicing up what would otherwise be an animated menu selection into almost a rythm combat game. Somehow it all just works.

Possibly the most underrated and least talked about part of this game is how it won't take your life away. Everyone is familiar with the Bethesda epics like Skyrim, or the Witcher series by CD Projekt RED but so often these games feel like the save file is something you keep as part of your lineage. Handing down to your son when he comes of age and he too will pass it on to his son. That's great for a lot of people for a lot of reasons, but I'd also like games I can completely experience without needing to take half a year off work. South Park can be comfortably completed in under 25 hours and that includes all sidequests and collectibles. If this feels like bad value for money then we will have to fight, just remember to wait your turn.
