I haven't actually watched South Park in about 5 years, yet I was still drawn to this game like crazy. It's a lot of fun, even for someone like myself who really, really, can't stand turn based games like this. The one thing I will say that isn't "100% positive" is that I often found the mana aspect to be a bit ridiculous, and I don't mean it was funny. I don't know if maybe it's just me, that I can't "get into" the idea of farting on people and what-not. It still hasn't stopped me from playing the game by any means. Just not really something I "like". One last thing about the mana aspect, I cannot, cannot, cannot stand the sneaky squeeker. It drives me insane. One little slip and I fail it. But all in all, it is a wonderful game, and I plan to re-play as every class possible and possibly even try mixing some crazy things. I've already played the Theif class and I am currently working on the Fighter class.

Holy sh|t, what a ride.

Obsidian hit every single mark and checkbox with this one. They hit the nail on its head, the plank on the jump, and the ball outta the park - and into space.

Everything about the game is brilliant and so true to its origins that it's almost scary. More than anything, it feels like watching a marathon of all the best stuff the show has had to offer through the years. It's been a while since I saw any South Park episodes, but this game has convinced me to start watching the show again.

I haven't laughed this hard and loud in what feels like forever - there where moments when I had to pause the game before continuing because my sides were hurting so much. I swear I had tears in my eyes at one point.

Sure, the jokes may be hit and miss if you're not a fan of the show, but then again, why would you even have the game, or be interested in playing it? This is a gift to the fans and for my part, I loved every second of it. It put a big, fat smile on my face and wouldn't let go until my stomach had been churned to oblivion from so many insane pranks and jokes.

I got this gifted, but would have been happy to pay full price for this South Park masterpiece. I see it has already Overwhelmingly Positive recommendations, both recent and old, and I just have to agree - this game is truly a gem and an absolute must if you have the slightest interest in South Park and its bizarre lore and inhabitants. Wholeheartedly recommended to every wizard, ranger, thief, druid, bard - and new kid around.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is a turned-based RPG. As the new kid in South Park, you get involved in a LARP opposing Cartman's Humans against Kyle's Elves, while the quiet little mountain town is place to events beyond what the kids anticipated.

Pros: This is a South Park fan's heaven, filled with fan service from across all seasons, with almost every characters from the show making an appearance or being referenced at some level. Most loot are winks to episodes: a sarcastiball trophy, a shake weight, an Antonio Banderas love doll, an Okama Gamesphere, and hundreds more. If an episode reference wasn't in the loot, it's out there on display in a kid's room or closet. Every shop or radio play songs from the show (Chef, Jennifer Lopez, DVDA songs, you name it). Matt Stone and Trey Parker's very-involved participation shows everywhere: the voice acting, the politically incorrect script and often down right disgusting language, the humor and how it critiques society. You feel like you're an actual character in South Park, forth wall breaks saved by the fact that you're playing a game about playing a game, and the kids' play-pretend opens "spells" and "attacks" effects to completely crazy scenarios. Graphically, it looks exactly like the show, nothing groundbreaking but exactly what you'd expect.

Cons: The game is extremely basic with little depth in the mechanics, combat being a bare-bone turn-based system with timed button-pressing. You pick one of four unoriginal classes ("Jew" is just a stand-in for the typical RPG "priest") with small skill trees each. You can equip up to 2 weapons and 3 pieces of armor (although some have a customizable perk slot or two), none of which are class-specific. Creating your own character in the South Park universe is unfortunately limited, most character customization will have to wait in-game for you to find wigs, face paint and armor dye, so that you finally have a character that looks like you want. The story is short with few complexity an relies strictly on its humor to keep it interesting. If you skip the exploration (something only fans will care for) and few optional sidequests, you'll probably be through the game within 10 hours.

Verdict: ★★★★☆ - Next on your list

If you are not a fan of South Park, STAY AWAY! But if you are, this is an unquestionable must have. To the fan, it's a Season worth of content, jokes, running gags and nostalgia. If you have any interest in South Park: The Fractured But Whole, start with this game first.

Pure comedic gold, a fantastic working of the TV show in to a game, as f-d up as you'd expect (and more), really very enjoyable exploring South Park and lots of references to all the characters and episodes. Turns out i'm not a fan of turn based rpgs, but it doesnt matter as nothing is off limits in this game! If you like the show, this game is a must have.

This game for fans of south park, or people that just like that kind of humor. If you have seen south park and disliked it however, this game isn't going to be for you, as the strongest point really is the humor and characters. The voices are the same and the entire game is filled with references. So many references to episodes that I ended up surprised that going number two in a urinal with mr mackey nearby didn't give me any special comment from my companion. Which I didn't expect going into the game, but again... There was so many minor characters or item references in the game.

I enjoyed every minute of my first playthrough as a fan of the show. (Just for the record far from the biggest fan, since there are a lot of episodes I haven't seen, and I am sure there were references to those that I missed.) Chances are that you will see your favorite character at least make an appearance.

The combat is turnbased rpg with each character having different abilities and moves. And the abilities require different forms of excecution sometimes button mashing, hitting the right keys, click or hold the mousebutton, but each ability tell you how to execute it before you cast it, so it is nice and manageable.

As for the story... It is southpark, don't expect the characters' actions to be logical. And the fewer questions you ask the better. Just enjoy the ride and expect that everyone around you is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or an idiot, or both.

So yeah, if you like south park's humor, then buy this. If not... Then run. Really, this game isn't holding back on any of the jokes, and it is really immature and gross in its comedy. Because of south park's style I feel they can get away with more, because nothing really looks realistic in the slightest but still. If you think South Park's humor and characters are too offensive, then this game won't help.

For me this is a great game, probably among my favorites because i enjoyed the entire experience. Which means, that the nitpicks I have are more... wishes for more features in future games. I wish that you could be a bit more unique character than just one of the normal boys. Maybe let you be a canadian boy, or a fatass like Cartman. Or let you be a girl, or a fat girl like the goth Henrietta. Is it needed? Probably not, but I would like it. I also would have loved more weird classes, like the Jew class already in the game. Maybe getting a princess/girl class like Kenny. Or a vampire class. Also would have loved just more. More of everything! :P I am finished, I want another.

____

On another note, that is not really a part of the review. The next game is called South Park: The fractured but whole. And this time they are going to be superheroes instead of humans and elves. And while I think the combat will be different, I think it is much like this one going to be dripping with the humor of south park. Preordering it means you get the stick of truth "for free" right away. Personally I see it more as paying 30 for each instead of 60 for one. Can't say if the next one will be good, but I loved the episodes I have seen in the show where they dressed up as superheroes.
I know Cartman says the only thing you get for preordering a game is a big fat ♥♥♥♥ in your mouth. Seems good if you like me didn't already have stick of truth.

The Stick of Truth is a pretty good game.

I'm a fan of these type of games, turn based combat with you on the left and the enemy on the right. These kind of RPGs are some of the best of the best. It's not a very long game, but the time spent is worth it I'd say. This satisfies my hunger for a decent Paper Mario game, which this reminds me of quite a bit.

Also.. make sure your parents aren't watching when you play this.

Guy Fieri rates this game 9/10 and would like to induct into the Flavortown Game Library.

I am in utter shock at the quality of this game. These two can do no wrong it appears when they really set their mind to it. I'd love for another new installment to feature mulitplayer but otherwise, what an impressive showing with this title. It's made me laugh so many times that I cannot keep count and reliving all the amazing characters we've seen over this illustrious run of episodes is worth playing the game alone. I sincerely hope they do another one for the new consoles, as the game may be even more their calling than the show, and that's really REALLY saying something.
