Rolling around at the speed of sound,
Got places to go, gotta follow my rainbow!
Can't stick around, have to keep moving on,
Guess what lies ahead, only one way to find out!
Must keep on moving ahead,
No time for guessing, follow my plan instead.
Trusting in what you can't see,
Take my lead I'll set you free.

Follow me, set me free,
Trust me and we will escape from the city.
I'll make it through, follow me.
Follow me, set me free,
Trust me and we will escape from the city.
I'll make it through prove it to you.

Follow me!
Oh yeah!

Danger is lurking around every turn,
Trust your feelings, got to live and learn!
I know with some luck that I'll make it through,
Got no other options, only one thing to do!
I don't care what lies ahead,
No time for guessing, follow my plan instead.
Find the next stage, no matter what that may be.
Take my lead, I'll set you free.

Incredible game. I spent a large portion of my childhood playing this, whether it was racing, force-feeding Chao or doing Mad Space hide and seeks with my cousin.

Aside for the obvious HD remaking, it hasn't changed. It's still that great exhilaration I remember. And now that I'm older and a much more adept gamer, I feel the need to perfect it :) halfway there already!

There are three types of stages, meaning you're three times as likely to get hooked on the game's playstyle! There are Sonic and Shadow's racing stages, obvious objective there. There are then Tails and Eggman's shooting/recon stages where you must reach the end leaving as much destruction in your wake as possible. And finally, my favourite, Knuckles and Rouge's treasure hunt stages, where you are equipped with a proximity radar which flashes a colour depending on how far you are from the gem you are trying to find. The objective is a best-of-3 gem hunt.

Seriously, if you're a fan of single player campaigns with astounding replay value and games where you can spend many hours playing to perfect your score or shave milliseconds off your time, this is a high HIGH recommendation.

Often regarded by fans as "the best Sonic 3D title ever!" Sonic Adventure 2 is a must buy for anyone who loves Sonic, or good platforming in general. A nice story told through 3 different "arcs" with fun gameplay and lots of replaybility, this game is truly one of the best Sonic games ever.
Pros:
+40-60 hours of gameplay
+3 diffrent types of gameplay each with fun mechanics
+30 different enormous stages to explore (each with 5 missions to keep you playing)
+Great soundtrack with memorable tracks (Live & Learn, City Escape, Sonic's Theme :D)
+CHAO RAISING (onion headed mutant/animal babies racing and beating the crap out of each other!!!)
+Secrets and hidden goodies EVERYWHERE!!!
+Multiplayer is fun (for the most part)
Cons:
-Repetitive and boring kart mini-game (you have to play it twice in the story, plus another 11 times in missions and mini games if you want all 180 emblem -_-)
-Some glitches here and there
-Lip syncing is messed up during cutscenes and voice acting sucks sometimes (Not Eggman, he sounds AWESOME :3)
-Questionable development decisions (WHY are the bounce bracelet and light speed dash activated with the same button!!!??? Why can the radar only detect ONE emerald at a time when it could detect ALL in SA1??? >:0)
*In conclusion. should you buy this game? ABSOLUTELY YES!!! For only $9.99 this game is definitely worth every penny!!!! It's fun, challenging, will keep you busy for quite a while, and will show you what the Sonic franchise is capable of making.

Sonic Adventure 2 was a title most Dreamcast owners were curious over about how different it would handle things over it's predecessor, and back in it's day it was met with mixed reactions. (Very much like the first Sonic Adventure) Usually most people praise the gameplay sections of Sonic and Shadow for the more straightforward platforming action gameplay, but berate the clunky platform and shooting-segments from Tails/Dr. Eggman's stages, and the incredibly large and oftentimes tedious stage design of Knuckles/Rouge's treasure hunting stages. Although met with mixed reactions, Sonic Adventure 2 was overall regarded as one of the better outings SEGA's mascot has received in his 3D career.

With the game's release on Steam, I've tried this game out after I played the Gamecube port many years ago on, and personally I think it's a pretty decent port with HD graphics, a curious leaderboard system for the really hardcore fans of this game, and the 'Battle' content originally from the Gamecube port as DLC, which includes a pretty decent 2-player vs. mode and a overhaul of the main menu theme and other minor extra's.

The game's divided into 3 main gameplay modes, which you tackle as 3 characters on both the Hero and Dark side of the spectrum, complete with their own set of stages. As explained above the characters' gameplay styles are very drastically different, and most newcomers will often struggle with even finishing alot of the stages past the first few ones in the story, because of the somewhat harsh difficulty curve in the stage design. A new mechanic introduced in this game was the ranking system, in where dependant on how fast you cleared the stages and how well you overall did in your run, the higher the score, which is oftentimes easier said than done. Frequent issues were the rather clunky camera angles that shifted all over the place during gameplay, and you can't manually control the camera while moving around, alot of the enemies in Tails/Dr. Eggman's stages wold often spawn out of nowhere and collide with your character, taking a big chunk of damage and risking their high score streak, and that you can only detect one objective out of 3 at a time in the Knuckles/Rouge stages, and they usually randomize with the locations of the items, requiring you to both know the large stage layout and also collect them as quickly as possible, making A-ranking alot of the stages quite a difficult task in itself.

There's also the Chao Garden in where you can raise your virtual pet Chao, either for time-wasting fun, or to have them compete in races or karate mini-games. It's a nice distraction and improvement from the Chao Garden system in the original game, but raising them can be very time-consuming (unless you use a in-game glitch mechanic to abuse it) and you have to remain in the actual Chao Garden to wait for your Chao to mature and grow better stats. It's a alright inclusion, but nothing I would spend time on personally.

Flaws aside, Sonic Adventure 2 is still a title worth playing if you're a big fan of the blue hedgehog and it's a moderate price on the Steam Shop. Just don't expect too have a easy time on the game if you're trying to shoot for all the unlockable content in the game.

Going through every part of this masterpiece is probably the best way to describe it, since it offers different sets of entertainment.
On top of the "Hero" campaign, you also have the "Dark" campaign, featuring the antagonists as playable characters.
Taking care of these two will grant you access to dozens of missions in "Stage Select", where you can replay all the stages of every campaign.
There's then the "Boss Attack Mode", where you get to battle every boss in each campaign in quick succession, which is actually more fun than it sounds!
After completing all campaigns and additional modes (Boss Attack and Kart Race) you have the additional challenge of getting better ranks in the 155 missions, which grants several dozens of hours of extra gameplay, to say the least...

Granted that the storyline missions may sound repetitive, having a trio of characters in each campaign, with absolutely different playstyles, offers fantastic variety to the experience.
Other than simply rushing through each campaign, there's also the small side-quest of obtaining hidden upgrades for every playable character, some of them making challenges easier, and some of them being simply fun.

Far from exciting but riveting nonetheless is precisely what Chao training and breeding is, since you get to not only raise them and improve their abilities, but you get to use their improved stats in several challenges.
Arbitrarily to reviews, the player's role in Chao Races and Karate is severely diminished and easily deemed boring (unless you enjoy mashing a single button), but seeing your endeared and mutated Chao bolting through adversaries after hours' worth of feeding and upgrading it is extremely rewarding!
Sonic and Shadow may be on the cover, but by the end of every challenge, it'll be impossible not to have grown attached to the astronomical replayability that this game offers...
Try reading only the first letters of each sentence.

I can't get started on how ♥♥♥♥ing good this game is. Seriously, it's the best game ever! It's the fastest game you'll ever play, I promise you that. I have literally spent my entire life playing this game. I know all the super speedy shortcuts and where all the hidden chaos emeralds are. I love playing as Knuckles and Tails too, those guys are chill in real life. One complaint is that you can play as Dr. Eggman, who in my opinion is the evilest villian in the world, and I think allowing us to play as him is distasteful, much like a game featuring Adolf Hitler as a playable character would be. However, I'm willing to look past that and still rate this 11/10 on speed alone.

Sonic Adventure 2 was the game that got me into Sonic. So when I found out it was on Steam I was excited. And it did not disappoint me. The game is an older game, so some things still persist like incomplete lip syncing in cutscenes or the music being louder than the dialogue at times. But there are subtitles to read if you can not fully hear the dialogue. There are added sound effects during the beginning of boss fights or when throwing switches, like in Crazy Gadget where there are far more sound effects for various panels than back in 2001. Now as a game itself, for me it plays well, even the hard mode is challenging but not unbeatable, the plot is the same of course but you will know pain, thy name Biolizard, and has replay value in the Chao Garden, Kart Racing, Boss Attack, and five modes per stage. And the unlockable if you get 180 emblems. Multiplayer is just as fun as before too with multiple modes and the almighty Grind Race. Curse you Metal Sonic. There are a variety of characters to play as, rather deep story, and multiple modes to play, something some in the fandom complain current games lack, making this game a plus. This game comes from an era where complaining was not as critical. So if you are looking to get into Sonic games, and want a somewhat straight forward but challenging game to play, this is definitely a game you'd need in your collection.

Sonic Adventure 2 is one of the bes sonic games out there. Though its story has many flaws and plotholes the game is still overall enjoyable. I will always be boping my head around to all the tunes in this game and i thinkthe gameplay is almost flawless. Though i have 2 problems with game. 1 being the camera and the other being tails in a mech suit. Other than that i love this game and i give it an 8/10
