"Another Sonic classic now on Steam. It's a good fun game, and the Chao Garden is literally the best part of the game. "

Incredible game. I spent a large portion of my childhood playing this, whether it was racing, force-feeding Chao or doing Mad Space hide and seeks with my cousin.

Aside for the obvious HD remaking, it hasn't changed. It's still that great exhilaration I remember. And now that I'm older and a much more adept gamer, I feel the need to perfect it :) halfway there already!

There are three types of stages, meaning you're three times as likely to get hooked on the game's playstyle! There are Sonic and Shadow's racing stages, obvious objective there. There are then Tails and Eggman's shooting/recon stages where you must reach the end leaving as much destruction in your wake as possible. And finally, my favourite, Knuckles and Rouge's treasure hunt stages, where you are equipped with a proximity radar which flashes a colour depending on how far you are from the gem you are trying to find. The objective is a best-of-3 gem hunt.

Seriously, if you're a fan of single player campaigns with astounding replay value and games where you can spend many hours playing to perfect your score or shave milliseconds off your time, this is a high HIGH recommendation.

I can't get started on how ♥♥♥♥ing good this game is. Seriously, it's the best game ever! It's the fastest game you'll ever play, I promise you that. I have literally spent my entire life playing this game. I know all the super speedy shortcuts and where all the hidden chaos emeralds are. I love playing as Knuckles and Tails too, those guys are chill in real life. One complaint is that you can play as Dr. Eggman, who in my opinion is the evilest villian in the world, and I think allowing us to play as him is distasteful, much like a game featuring Adolf Hitler as a playable character would be. However, I'm willing to look past that and still rate this 11/10 on speed alone.

Often regarded by fans as "the best Sonic 3D title ever!" Sonic Adventure 2 is a must buy for anyone who loves Sonic, or good platforming in general. A nice story told through 3 different "arcs" with fun gameplay and lots of replaybility, this game is truly one of the best Sonic games ever.
Pros:
+40-60 hours of gameplay
+3 diffrent types of gameplay each with fun mechanics
+30 different enormous stages to explore (each with 5 missions to keep you playing)
+Great soundtrack with memorable tracks (Live & Learn, City Escape, Sonic's Theme :D)
+CHAO RAISING (onion headed mutant/animal babies racing and beating the crap out of each other!!!)
+Secrets and hidden goodies EVERYWHERE!!!
+Multiplayer is fun (for the most part)
Cons:
-Repetitive and boring kart mini-game (you have to play it twice in the story, plus another 11 times in missions and mini games if you want all 180 emblem -_-)
-Some glitches here and there
-Lip syncing is messed up during cutscenes and voice acting sucks sometimes (Not Eggman, he sounds AWESOME :3)
-Questionable development decisions (WHY are the bounce bracelet and light speed dash activated with the same button!!!??? Why can the radar only detect ONE emerald at a time when it could detect ALL in SA1??? >:0)
*In conclusion. should you buy this game? ABSOLUTELY YES!!! For only $9.99 this game is definitely worth every penny!!!! It's fun, challenging, will keep you busy for quite a while, and will show you what the Sonic franchise is capable of making.

So, it's kinda funny... 24.6 hours on record. The keywords being ON RECORD. I have literally spent a solid thousand hours playing this game on the Nintendo Gamecube since I was a little kid. I've dumped more of my life into this game than almost any other game, and for good reason -- This game is bliss. This game is what all these subpar modern 3D Sonic games should've strived to be. The action stages are incredible, the chao garden is a lot of fun (and has a really deep meta... No, really, google "sonic adventure 2 chao garden" and look at a comprehensive guide. Chao Garden is practically its own game in the broad spectrum of things...) the graphics were EXCELLENT for 2002, and it all runs at a silky smooth (but unfortunately locked) frame rate on even my low-end laptop. If you have a weak system, a USB-connected controller, and you DON'T own Sonic Adventure 2, you are legitimately missing out on one of the best games your computer can run.

P.S., BUY THE BATTLE DLC, IT'S ONLY $3 AND ADDS PLENTY OF CONTENT TO THE GAME

P.S.S., Getting 180 emblems isn't hard... But if you're up for a real (but completely do-able) challenge, get 180 A ranks.

The story and game is the same way I remember it from years ago when I first discovered it (friends and people I knew back then were kind of ♥♥♥♥♥ to me for some reason. Saw them playing this and liked it and eventually got it for my Gamecube)

Graphics are a little better. I notice some graphics were changed which makes me a bit sad (got rings? is gone (likely because most people wouldn't get the reference now) and the ever so hilarious Chaos NOtwork bench ads are also gone,) and that covers most of the aesthetic changes anyways.

The Testing level is now far easier to reach in this game too (most notably via Eggman in his part of Cannon's Core).

Story wise, I still get slightly emotional at the end since Shadow doing a heroic sacrifice and remembering Maria's true wish snaps him out of his limbo of hatred for all of mankind.

Raising the chao is still as fun as ever, sad that the ever elusive and legit Tails chao is now impossible to get due to Phantasy Star Universe Episode 1 & 2 NOT being on Steam. Would be nice if Tails, Knuckles, and Amy chao were all added as FREE DLC. Would be a nice freebie to make the game funner.

A first class trip down nostalgia lane. I put in an insane amount of hours on this game when it first came out on the Dreamcast. I love the songs, storyline (except Knuckles/Rouge), chao garden, and the amount of practise you need to inorder to max rank all available levels.

I would 100% recommend if you have a controller and use a program like xPadder (or equivalent), but if you don't I would have to say avoid. The port is really awful and lazy for Keyboard & Mouse users.

This game is one of my favorite from the Gamecube. I'm just so happy that steam decided to pick it up and make it apart of their community. If you have not played this game yet, then you don't know what true gaming is!
