I started playing this game after finishing Marvel Superheroes and even if I knew this was an older game I was highly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the original story was good and the graphics were nice but there were a few things that made me drop it, that is:
- horrible split screen action
- weird map
- random glitches
- ABSOLUTELY IRRITATING flying controls
Waiting for Jurassic World, suffering from LEGO withdrawal symptom, I reinstalled this game and I had exactly the same reaction: very, very, VERY good story but horrible open world. I was about to drop it again.
Then I forced myself to keep playing it. I get used to the map, I dicthed my usual game partner and played it alone so I didn't have to have my screen ♥♥♥♥♥ by the terrible splitscreen, I eventually get even used to the ABSOLUTELY IRRITATING flying controls. Almost.
I ended up 100%ed it, like I did for all the others LEGO games, but I have to admit I didn't enjoy it very much. It was a little bit frustrating and this is not really what I look for in a videogame.
Currently this game is ranked 14th (second-to-last) in my personal "LEGO games from TT" chart. I still recommend it, because when you eventually get used to all its imperfection you can see the good things that later LEGO games inherited from it.
But be patient. Very, very, VERY patient.
