People keep ♥♥♥♥♥ing about the developers "lying." They aren't ♥♥♥♥ing lying. They just haven't updated the steam page. That's like blaming IGN for having a good review for this game because in their review, they said the multiplayer was working. Now this is just an argument of games in general of if you deserve a refund if the service shuts down or something along those lines. I'm in the park of it being your fault for not having done any research and the business model being a one time fee rather than recurring. There are businesses where you pay once for a lifetime of membership on sites like uploaded.net or something. Do you get a refund if the service shuts down? No. You're just out of luck.

Now I am rating this game negatively is because it doesn't feel as good as it should. It feels like just a COD gun but worse with a transformers skin slapped on it. I don't know if they looked past it or implementing it would cause the gameplay to be worse but there feels like there is no sense of scale or weight to anything. YOU PLAY AS A ♥♥♥♥ING 20 FOOT ROBOT (Or taller?) and it just feels like you are a reskinned COD boy. The animation of being able to transform into a vehicle is awesome and fluid but the car mechanics are very awkward and I don't believe there is any reason to be a vehicle other than to get from point A to point B and ignore every single enemy. The only time I have ever used the vehicle so far is to shoot down a marauder.

The big problem is the shooting mechanic. It just doesn't feel as good. The fact that they have a community rating is nice so I'm using the highest rated guns but one of the them is the triple burst rifle which feels so awful. Even though it looks like it should be a projectile, it actually isn't. The moment you pull the trigger, the bullets are already there and everything else is an animation. This makes it very weird to use the gun along with the scoping mechanism just feels weird.

By "COD", I just mean a generic shooter. I know they are very different.

EDIT: Just played more of it. It's cool they slapped on another mechanic but the stealth system is really weak. I really love transitioning from person to car still though. The animation is just so fluid.

Fantastic game! So much of it is a throwback to the 1980s movie and TV show! My only issue is that the multiplayer is offline completely. I feel bad, because I received this game as a gift from my brother, but it's only 30% of the game if there's no multiplayer! LET ME DESTROY SOME AUTOBOTS!

Fall of Cybertron is an engaging, cinematic action story that tries to focus on a small cast of characters. In exchange, game mechanics now resemble a generic TPS with little to no variation in the often-seen gameplay formula.

Long version:
War for Cybertron was one of the biggest love letters to the TransFormers universe, creating a new story while being faithful to the heart of these robotic characters. In this regard, its official sequel, Fall of Cybertron is very similar. But in game mechanics, a lot has changed.

For starters, all levels are solo, there are no more squads. This way the player can spend more time with the individual characters to explore their personalities, their unique special abilities, and their place in the larger scheme of the global conflict that is slowly killing their home planet. They also have to rely on an off-screen buddy or self-monologues for any kind of verbal interaction, which, compared to War for Cybertron’s banter, feel a lot less natural.

Since there are no more immortal allies, combat now resembles a typical TPS, with predictable enemy placement and a generally less aggressive AI. The game isn’t easy though, since encounters often employ a cheap trick to force the player to use a specific route or play style.
War for Cybertron had serious issues with weapon placement and ammo drops, which were solved by introducing an almost omnipresent shop/upgrade system. While the possibility to change loadouts is welcomed, the repetitive grinding that came with it is not.

The levels follow a linear, cinematic formula, with each stage mostly designed to rely on the special ability of the current robot. They are gimmicky, but incredibly fun for one play through. So fun that you may not even realise that there are no boss fights: all encounters between named characters are resolved in a cut-scene—if I had to really hold anything against Fall of Cybertron in the end, it would be this terrible design choice.

this game was absolutly amasing! it was rich in story, entertaining and alot of fun.
although there are some issues. one of the things that made me upset was the price. this game came out 4 years ago and is still at its origonal price of $50, wich is a little expensive for a game that came out in 2012.
another thing that made it hard for me to enjoy it was High Moon taking the online servers down. This made the DLC for this game completely useless.

I recomend thisgame to people who love third person shooters, transformers, or a great story.

Complete false advertisement. There is no escalation mode. I see everyone complaining about the servers being shut down for multiplayer, this means you can't even play escalation mode by yourself. The only thing you can play in this game is single player campaign

Where's the quality control steam, and why do you allow your publishers to flat out lie to the public to sell games. The games description falsely lists several features that are not available, people should open a class action lawsuit against you for false advertisement, maybe that will force you to pay attention to the rampant false advertisement.

Very soon once haters start realizing this system was put up, the reviews will be filled with negative ones. Before that happens, let me drop my opinion here. It's a great game at it's heart, it has an interesting storyline that makes you want to play through each chapter. The main feature here is it's brilliant multiplayer mode. Now you've probably heard of the hackers in this game, and yes, it's true. However the game has a thriving community which will guide you into friendly, hacker-free matches. Is it worth $60 though? No, I can not say this. However it would be worth it at any other price, so when the next sale hits, go for it!

If you loved War For Cybertron, you will love this one even more. Everything about this game is better than the first. You get better graphics, better gameplay, and the story is just awesome. It's a short game and I completed it on normal in about 6-7 hours. Some people miss the co-op campaign but I think it was removed for the better. Each character now has a special set of challenges that wouldn't have been possible with co-op. You really do get more diverse gameplay.

There are some features removed from War for Cybertron. Double jump no longer possible for some reason. Every transformer has the dash ability and sprint. There is a new feature that's a great idea, I feel. The teletraan 1 store appears in Campaign and Escalation mode. Basically, you have access to most of the weapons in the game, right off the bat. There are weapons that require you to find blueprints throughout the campaign. Once you find them, you can buy them with in-game coins. There are some weapon limitations. You can only have 1 standard weapon paired up with 1 support weapon at one time. Do you want to carry 2 rocket launcher type weapons at once? Not possible. This limitation might prove annoying to some, but I felt it created balance and I never felt the need for more than was given to me.

The multi-player mode is vastly improved and all the maps are fun. They are not too big but big enough to offer a challenging landscape. With endless customization everyone can have their own unique look.

All in all, this is an awesome game and High Moon did the Transformers community proud. It's got special touches that many older fans will appreciate. I highly recommend this game.

A very good video game representation of the G1 Transformers. The single player campaign has a strong plot which plays out a bitter war between the Autobots and Decepticons during the final moments of the planet Cybertron.

Game primarily playes like a 3rd person corridor shooter. Game was executed very well so the weapon and movement controls feel really good. Animations were well done and the robot to vehicle transitions look really good. The single player campaign will take roughly 10 hours or so on regular difficulty and consists of 15 chapters. The player does not get to choose which Transformer character they play through the game with the campaign regularly featuring a different character between chapters. Characters will switch between Autobot and Decepticon depending on which part of the story the player is currently playing and the game appears to feature equal time between the two factions. Difficulty on normal settings was neither too easy or difficult, but there were times that were a good challenge. Fortunately the checkpoint system was done well enough that you will not have to redo too much after defeats.

Many of the fan favorite characters are featured as playable or ally, and the inclusion of others like Metroplex, the Combaticons, Insecticons and the Dinobots were very welcome. Both the voice acting and the soundtrack were extremely well done. This helped create a good feeling of chemistry between the characters and sets the tone of the game.

The game does have a multiplayer feature which I have tried only briefly. It is cool to create a customized Transformer to do battle against or with other players. I understand that cheating does happen quite regularly but I am hopeful that this will not hurt the experience too badly. I will review this feature further as I play it more.

I had a lot of fun with this game and highly recommend it to those who are G1 Transformer fans.

If you don't know the difference between a Unicorn and Unicron, then this isn't the game for you, but if you do know the difference then this is a MUST buy. From a gameplay standpoint it is repetetive and I'll gladly put that down as a pitfall of the game, however the whole point of the game is to be one gigantic fan service that serves as a spiritual prequal to the Generation 1 Transformers series.

If you are a fan of the old transformers this game will have you drooling with fan service at least once in every mission, all the way from the huge cityboys of Metroplex all the way down to being full of Cesium Salami, or was it beryllium baloney? However the biggest fan service is in the ending credits, which I won't spoil because it makes finishing the game entirely worth it!
