About This Game

Vlambeer's SUPER CRATE BOX is coming to bring back the glory of the golden arcade age, when all that really mattered was getting on that high score list. Grab your baseball cap and loosen your pants, it's time to fight endless hordes of enemies and collect every weapon crate you can. Prepare for an arcade delight with tight controls, refreshing game mechanics, cracking retro art and a terribly hip chiptune soundtrack.

Overall, this game would be the ABSOLUTE MEANING of "FREE" ("free" and "f2p" is a very different word, f2p= It's free to unlock MOST of the MAIN FEATURES of the game. While "free" means ALL of the FEATURES of the game) I don't see any part/weapons or stuffs that needs "real money" to get it.

Gameplay's very simple; run, hide, shoot, repeat, don't get killed by those monsters/your own weapon (i.e: disc bullet, fire), and get those crates. Go for a highscore, unlock arenas, weapons, and random characters.

I have 1 problem. TOO SIMPLISTIC. If you've unlocked all unlockables, it would be boring to repeat gameplay. You guys should add another gamemodes in DLC/free updates. It's OK for DLC releases which would cost around 10 cents/1 dollar as long as it add gameplay, or maybe Storyline?

This is your classic old-school arcade game, except its on a pc and played with arrow keys. Takes literelly like 5 seconds to download, and it doesnt use internet. I play it when my internet's crap, or when i just feel like derping around and unwinding after a long day. It's f2p, but they would be hard-pressed to make money of this thing anyway.

Im about to beat my score of like 20,000,000 (10) then I kill myself with the disk gun.

This game is fast paced, challenging, has freakin EXPLOSIONS!!! and is pure awesomeness.
I recommend this to EVERYONE. This game is always makeing you want to play over and over just to beat your highscore. In the end we'll all end up saying "one more box"

Wow.. This 'game' is the very first thing you learn to create in Unity. ._. The only real difference is that they changed the textures.

It seems odd to recommend against a free to play game that does not have any micro-payments since it is impossible to waste any money on this game, only time can be spent on a game like this. I will tell you that I would not recommend you spending your time on this game. On the list of issues with this game the most obvious is the technical issues, the game crashes if there are too many particles on the screen usually (from the flamethrower), I have heard on the forums that downgrading your entire computer from windows 8 to windows 7 but there are other issues besides the technical ones. This game is yet another instant death platformer, now sometimes this works games like VVVVVV or Super Meat Boy where you have a great ability to avoid hazards all while gravity drags you down. Games where instant death platformer does not work is this game where your jump ability is really limited and gravity drags you down to your death so quickly. I guess that all of these problems are a product of it being inspired massively by Mario Bros and trying all the wrong original things so they conflict with each other. You may be able to play this game if you are on Windows 7 already without any issues and may even like it otherwise do not waste your time on this game.

The main thing is that even though I have DirectPlay installed, THE GAME CONTINUOUSLY CRASHED WHEN I KILL TOO MANY THINGS. The other thing is the tutorial is unskippable and has to be replayed every single time!

Poorly-written code causes this game to throw up errors constantly. I have to clear caches and/or reinstall every time I play, and it usually says it's still running even though it's not. This is completely unacceptable for any professional game, even if it's "indie." I thought the developers would have been quick to fix these issues, but after several months, there is no change.

The game itself is a laid-back, casual arcade experience, which is a nice break from frustratingly difficult games that relentlessly punish players. However, the lack of any stakes means the game gets really boring, really quickly. The levels all feel generally the same, and the weapon selection is just about the only thing this game has going for it, and even at that, it still feels sterile after a short time. There's only a few types of enemies, and no bosses that I encountered. It's just a game that goes nowhere quickly and doesn't do much of anything to reward a skillful run or to hold your interest.

You get one game mode option. That's it. It's not even a quality game mode.

And for godssake, add some WASD movement support. That should be a bare minimum for any platformer game, or any game that relies on keyboard movement. I hate moving with the arrow keys, and my lack of muscle memory all but ensures that I don't get very far on each run. Also, can't you add even a simple volume adjustment slider? I know you're going for the retro thing, but we're living in 2014, and basic menu options should be mandatory.

In short: If you're going to do an ultra simple arcade shooter, you better put a LOT of interesting content in there, otherwise you give the player no reason to play it for more than 5 minutes.

I love this game, and have nearly 100% the game on my Ipod, but on PC it keeps crashing and forcing me to restart. When it crashes, steam still says I'm in game, and it wont let me launch another game or close steam, so I have to restart. Just not worth the crashing.

It's a good game. Unfortunately, however, the game keeps on crashing and all my progress gets deleted every time the game crashes. This game needs an update to fix the bugs.
