-Buying the Steely Dawn starter pack can get you up to level 40-50 (with the Evendim quest pack)
-Buy the quad pack off a sale, it is relatively often available for half-price (the pack will pick it up for you from level 45 and get you to 85.)
-Subscribe for one month, being VIP even once on a character removes some of the restrictions.
-Try to do all the deeds, each free Turbine Point reduces the amount you might have to purchase.
The Lord of the Rings Online as an MMORPG is one of the more polished one and has kept up with the times visually. The gameplay is very similar to you if you have played MMORPGs like World of Warcraft and Everquest and does not offer anything on this front you could not find from another game. Where LotRO shines is the lore, story and world design.
The Lore stays true to that of Tolkien's works for the most part and, usually, what deviations exist usually are still in the spirit of the professor's works. The story follows the Lord of the Rings book trilogy's story mostly, with lot's of additional content that portrays events during the War of the Ring which are not delved into in detail in the books. The world design and art direction is great, what the game lacks in pure fidelity it well makes up for in design.
Lord of the Rings Online offers an unrivaled experience when it comes to exploring and immersing yourself in Middle-Earth, from the burrows of the Shire to the plains of Rohan. The game will hit home with Tolkien fans who enjoy exploration, roleplaying and solo/small group oriented adventuring.
-Great Story, that follows the books faithfully and explores additional lore friendly events.
-Deep source material.
-Good solo experience, the games focus has during the years switched to cater to solo players.
-For fans of the Middle-Earth Legendarium
-Very friendly to Roleplayers.
-Lack of raids and traditional instances, especially in later expansions. ( which might be alleviated if you are interested in alternative instance types, like the Skirmishes and Big Battles.)
-Weak PvP-content. The PvP has been relatively stagnant and there doesn't seem to be much improvement on the horizon
