Combat Arms Goes Transatlantic

Attention Soldiers,

We've got some exciting news for you: Combat Arms Europe and North America will join forces on Tuesday, June 30, to merge into one unified service! With this change, players in Europe, North America and Oceania will be able to compete against each other via the new Combat Arms service.

We are very excited about this opportunity to bring together the best features of the European and North American services to unify and improve Combat Arms for its community. To celebrate this occasion, we will soon announce some great events we have lined up for you!

This new service will bring minimal changes to Combat Arms, but we strongly intend those to enhance your game experience. Combat Arms will be managed by Nexon Europe, but players can continue to log into the game with their Nexon America accounts. However, one unavoidable change is that Combat Arms will no longer be playable through Steam, and can only be played through the Nexon Launcher.

Thank you in advance for your patience and support through this upcoming transitional period. We look forward to seeing you in Combat Arms!

Best regards,
Combat Arms Team

TLDR:

  • As of June 30, Nexon America and Nexon Europe will merge forces to create a new, unified Combat Arms.
  • American and European players will now have the ability to compete against each other in Combat Arms.
  • Combining the European and North American services will streamline changes to the game to improve your player experience.
FAQ for the Service Merge

Q: When will this happen?
A: The unified Combat Arms service will launch on Tuesday, June 30.

Q: Will I still be able to play Combat Arms through Steam?
A: Unfortunately, no. As a result of the service merge, Combat Arms will only be playable through the Nexon Launcher.

Q: Will I have to play Combat Arms on servers in Europe?
A: No need to worry about 150+ ping play sessions! Nexon Europe will be running servers in the US to ensure your gameplay will be as responsive as it was under the divided service.

Q: What will happen to my character, inventory and inbox in Combat Arms North America?
A: Everything in your inventory and inbox will remain there, ready for you to use against your foes once again. As for character names, if there is a conflict with an existing Combat Arms Europe character name, the North America name will have an exclamation point (!) added to it. For players who have character names changed, we will be delivering Name Change Coupons so that their names can be changed as preferred.

Q: Will my friends list transfer over?
A: Yes, your friends list will stay with your account.

Q: Will my clan transfer over?
A: Yes! You should still be in your clan once your account transfers over to the merged Combat Arms service. If the clan’s name conflicts with an existing Combat Arms Europe clan name, then the North America name will have an AT symbol (@) added. For clans that have clan names changed, we will be delivering Clan Name Change coupons to their clan leaders.

Q: What will happen to my NX with Nexon America?
A: You will keep your NX and will be able to continuously spend it in Combat Arms.

Q: I just spent money and now it will be a different service. Shouldn’t I get a refund?
A: We are not offering refunds because Combat Arms will still be available in all current locations. Once everything is transferred over, there should be little difference in your gameplay, aside from having more people to shoot.

Q: Do I have to purchase NX with Euros after the migration?
A: No, there’s no change in NX charging process for your Nexon America account.

Q: Will I need to redownload Combat Arms to play in Europe?
A: Once the switch happens, you’ll only need to launch the game through the Nexon Launcher. There may be a small game update, but there shouldn’t be a multi-gigabyte download waiting for you.

Q: Are there going to be any other changes?
A: Some of the changes we have made in the last few months have been to merge the two services. We will keep you apprised of any other changes to come, if they are needed.

Q. How can I interact with users from Europe?
You will interact with European users the same way you've always interacted with Combat Arms users in North America and Oceania. This means that you can chat with them, exchange messages, and, most importantly, compete with them in the same game room!

Q. Will there be any events after the migration?
To celebrate the migration, we are planning to launch events which Combat Arms North America and Europe users can enjoy together. Details regarding these events will be announced soon.

Q: What if I don’t want my Combat Arms info transferred?
A: Anyone who wishes to opt out of the migration may submit a request to have their gameplay data deleted. Making this request will not impact your Nexon America account; it will only apply to your Combat Arms gameplay data (your character name, achievements, clan participation, statistics, and so on). Just submit a request to our Customer Support team and we’ll take care of the rest.

Q: Where can I find Combat Arms Europe?
A: Information on Combat Arms Europe can be found in the following locations:
  • Main Website: http://combatarms.nexoneu.com/
  • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/combatarmseurope

Played back in 2008 and when I got my hands on this game, it was my life for a year and a bit later. It was the only "current" FPS that my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ computer could play at the time and I didn't own any consoles. Long story short, I remember enjoying it a lot.

I got a bit nostalgic (how ever much you can be with something that happened only 7 years ago, but still) I had the urge to try it again, not believing how bad everyone has reported it being since coming to steam.

Holy ♥♥♥♥, they weren't wrong.

The game is infected with hackers that when they disconnect or get kicked, crash the game room and the game has to be reset.

Nothing has changed in the last few years content wise either, except maybe a few new maps that are garbage and aren't actual played. I've only found game rooms for maps that I remember being there 7 years ago. This game has clearly been abandonded.

Avoid it at all costs.

The game is decent. Those complaining are comparing it to something way bigger than CA. Yes, rage kickers, hackers and all of that are in this game. Of course, the hackers are all in the recruit server which is where everyone usually starts out. I have 4 accounts on this game and I started in 2009. I do not consider this game pay-2-win, and I think those complaining just wanna QQ cause they suck. Also alot of people who are either writing reviews for this game are basing it off of 2010-2013. Combat Arms is changing and trying to improve and I think they've done well on it. Besides the fact the servers can't handle the amount of people who have come back to the game.

I played very little of CA (Combat Arms) while on Steam, but before it was on Steam I had the pleasure of welcoming CA to NA on May 28, 2008 when the servers opened for Closed Beta. I continued to play for another 5 1/2 years, amassing a small private army in game and over 3,600 hours of logged playtime on Xfire.
Let's start at the beginning, shall we?
I was literally waiting for the servers to open on May 28, 2008 so I could get a jump start on CA. I was not disappointed. What an experience! What a game! I was instantly in love! The guns and characters were few back then, the maps even more so (The 3 originals: Junk Flea, Gray Hammer and Warhead). But it was so much fun! It was CB so everyone was so nice. "GLHF!" "Nice shot!" "Nice game!" "Nice try!" That's what people said before, during and after matches. It was a pleasure to play and the players were 99.9% nice.
All went well through Pre-Open and Open Beta. More people, so the nice things people would say started to become overshadowed by the horrible people who came to play with us CB testers.
Then Official Launch happened. Not even a month later, we started to see it.
Hackers. And the rage and bullying that comes with them.
Well, no need to continue a story we already know the ending to, right? Right.
This game went from one of the best shooters I've played and has devolved into a hack fest, insult fest and all around QQ fest.
From the squeakers who get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because they suck to the veteran gamers who can't possibly be worse than you, this game will teach you that being skilled is a bad thing. Seriously, you will get kicked. Many times.
Using a gun the mod doesn't like? You'll find yourself in the lobby. How about a female character? Hit box is the same size, but try telling the mod that. They psyche themselves out because she's skinnier and somehow it's your fault!
Seriously, if you want a game where you are constantly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ about getting knifed from across the map or killed by a flying zombie, by all means, this is the one for you!
But if you want a fun game that hasn't devolved into a hack/whine festival, then look somewhere else.
I'm ashamed to have spent $2,000 on this game. And Nexon just ruined it. I will never play another Nexon game ever again.

I wouldn't recommend it anymore. When it first was released (way before it was on Steam) I actually was getting people into it. It was nothing new in the world of FPS but at the same time it was something fun and you could do so many differnt things depending on your play style. I emded up being really good at the game and quite frankly got bored of it. I will say outright that during those times it was awesome.

Fast forward.

Decided to pickup again after about a year of not playing it and only playing CS:S. right away I noticed that something seemed off. Still had all the weapons from my previous runs but they seemed to do so very very little compared to when I was playing before. Looked into the shop and was horrified. This originally was not a P2W game but there is very little doubt about it being one now.

Really if you want to pay for a game that used to actually be a F2P instead of a P2W game then by all means do so I'll not stop you. However just go into this game knowing that if you want to be able to get anywhere you will have to break open the piggy bank.

TL:DR : The money you'd be dumping into this game is better spent wiping your ♥♥♥ with.

Let me tell you a story about a lone sniper named Storm_12.

I started playing this game on the summer of 2008. Back then this game wasn't a pay to win. It was a somewhat balanced game that you could have fun with on any PC at any skill level. I spent many Friday nights staying home and playing on clan matches with the clan names "Xcaped Convicts". I had Sadly I had lost my original account 2 years later due to an expired email address. In those two years I played very seriously and earned quite a reputation as a good sniper. Earned adminship in the Xcaped Convicts, and the only thing I ever bought in the game was an M-200 Ghille sniper. I was devastated to have lost my account. But I still kept playing.

I continued to play and as the years went by..My Clan Mates, which some were really old guys like in their 60's probably ( i know sounds creepy but they were cool) Stopped playing. My buddy Snowflake who was probably my age right now (19) had joined the army in 2009, he was my partner and he helped me when I was mourning the loss of a friend. I don't know if Brainbleeb (one of the clan Admins) or Amejico, or any of my old friends are still around or doing well ( a lot of them had health issues)... These guys gave me a home and taught me a lot about respect and they gave me wisdom for the real world. Where ever you guys are... I hope you are all alright.

This game has gone to hell, however, I cannot give this game a bad review. This game was a huge part of my life, and it made me the PC gamer I am today. In my life I went through moving from Middleschool to Highscool, a loss of a Friend, A tremendous heartbreak, 3 PCs, 2 accounts, 2 headsets, A lot of virtual school, many more girls in my life, and many friends. I have moved on and I play with the big boys on CS, but it isnt like CA.

I am writing a positive review for this game not because you should play this game. But because this stupid game made me who I am today.

I continue to use the name Storm_12 (including renditions of it like 暴風_12) because it is who I am and have always been ingame.

This video that i found just now, was recorded on 2010 and posted a year later. As I was writing this review I had found it again. I sound like a dork but hey I was in Middle school. Looking back, I'm remembering the great times I had with these guys and am in tears. Thank you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZdc8b_atN0

Long live the Xcaped Convicts.

Thank you for reading this.

Let me just give people a review about why you should at least try this game.

Ignore my hours played, I played this game long before it was released on Steam and the combat system hasn't changed, which is good because it can be enjoyable. The game has a lot of cons, but they are cons that you can get by if you're willing. The play style for this game is enjoyable and lasts for many hours, it's not a slow paced game, it is meant to be fast paced and people jumping around while shooting you is a big part of it; however, there are people who like to snipe in this game often, so seeing people just slightly moving or not moving at all to try and snipe you is common aswell.

A good thing to note is that you can have two primary's equiped at once, a sniper and a SMG/assault rifle is the most common equip. There's light armor for moving fast but take more damage, and there's heavy armor for taking lots of hits but moving slower. Sniping in this game is also much more enjoyable than most because the sway on sniper rifles is almost un-noticable, making it much easier to use. Aiming down sights is an OPTION on most non-sniper weapons, not aiming down your sights can also proove to do a lot of damage; although, buying a sight does make it easier to aim, but only good on guns with little recoil.

There isn't only game modes that are just senseless pvp, there is a co-op mode against AI(Fireteam) and you can also play as zombies to try and infect others before the time limit runs out.

The game can be pay to win at times, but it's not impossible to win against people that paid real money for their weapons. Guns bought with in-game currency only last a day, but you can buy them unlimited times and if you play the game frequently enough it won't matter what they cost because most of them you can make the money for in just 2-3 games. Hackers are frequent, but it's not like you can't just leave a game and join another one, there's a vote to kick option while in the game as well, SO USE IT.

There you go, if you aren't gonna play the game often, it's not a game for you. If you love the gameplay to it, then you should have no problem with it if you play it enough.

I remember being obsessed with this game a few years back. I saw it on Steam recently and downloaded it, excited to see what is new in the game. I'll tell you what's new. The game is filled with hackers now. It is not even worth downloading because every lobby has at least one hacker that sits in a corner of the map with an aimbot killing everyone. Also, to add to the pain, the game is extremely pay-to-win. A decent weapon is at least $5 just to use it for a week. It is just awful and it shouldn't even exist. There is a good thing about this though. It is ♥♥♥♥ing hilarious to watch 2 hackers on opposite teams constantly using aimbot.

The game is heavily reliant on the renting system to ensure players keep playing so they can keep their rented firearms from expiring. The game also does suffer from poor shooting mechanics as well as unbalanced guns that favor higher ranked/whales. Also a lot of the maps end up being sniper vs sniper with little to no gameplay in the middle of the map.

Additionally while there is a "forge" system in place it seems to be quite rare to actually use it.
