Lochlann: Plains of Corruption Update

The war against the Fomors has shifted to the offensive. As the Royal Army leads the charge against the Fomor horde and pushes into territory long lost to humanity, the path ahead grows darker, more bizarre, more... wrong. The next chapter in the story of Vindictus has arrived with the Lochlann: Plains of Corruption update!

Welcome to Lochlann...

Long ago, Lochlann was a thriving town, filled with humans on an expansive plain. Then the Fomors came, driving the humans out of their homes. But now, ever since the Fomors took claim over Lochlann, something else has taken hold, corrupting the very earth and spawning creatures not meant for this world.

While some have their own theories about the corruption that has taken hold on the Lochlann Plains, the truth may only be found with hard work, an open mind... and a lot of luck. Those who have completed the story through Lugh Lamhfada should report to Marrec in Colhen to restart the story!

New Raid: Infected Eochaid

Deep below the plains of Lochlann lies a monstrous beast, Eochaid. Over a dozen meters tall, it was a fearsome opponent long before the seeping corruption that has befallen Lochlann entered his nest... but now it has been transformed into something else entirely.

Face off against the Infected Eochaid in Vindictus' newest Raid Battle. The powerful strikes from this beast would be enough to fell even the strongest warrior, but the corruption has infused it with terrible new power. With this newfound power, it moves effortlessly obliterating foes with powerful magic and summoning minions to spread the corruption further. Only a coordinated team of mercenaries can hope to evade his strikes and disable his powers long enough to slip in a finishing blow.

Those that manage to slay the beast may claim Eochaid's Essence, a rare and mysterious substance connected to the corruption itself. Brynn in Colhen remains his inventive self, however, and will be able to transform this essence into one of two new powerful earrings, Innocent Cry and Innocent Tear.

Enchant Scrolls in the Marketplace
With the Lochlann: Plains of Corruption update, we've lifted the restriction on selling non-Permanent Enchant Scrolls on the Marketplace! Instead of throwing a rare but unwanted scroll at the nearest vendor for a paltry sum, you're now able to list them on the Marketplace and find the scroll a good home. The scrolls will still expire once purchased, so make sure you use it promptly!

Urban Punk and Angel Sets

The Plains of Corruption have brought in a wealth of new items. With two new outfits in a modern style, a new type of Enhancement Stone to boost your odds, a pair of high-value packages and more, there's plenty to enjoy with the outfits below!

See all the new items in the Urban Punk and Angel Sets post.

Returning Warrior Events

As you venture out into Lochlann's corrupted fields and beyond, you're going to need all the backup you can find. An experienced warrior at your side, a powerful spell enchanting your blade and... the finest earrings glinting in the starlight. Three events arrive for the month of June, here to help you grow stronger as the story of Lochlann unfolds.

Find out more at the Returning Warrior Events post.

Lugh Lamhfada Update

With the continued story, a new battle area ascending to the peak of Ben Chenner and a new Raid, Chapter 1 of Season 3 ends with a bang as Lugh Lamhfada takes the field.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2560CjzEQJM

Season 3 - Episode 4
The fighting over Ben Chenner continues. Soldiers continue their way up the mountain, escorting mages, scholars and priests, but even as fewer come back down, no casualties are ever reported... and the Royal Army is only spurred on by their 'flawless victories'. This bizarre curse must be stopped before there are no soldiers left to fight. The search for a solution leads only further up the mountain of Ben Chenner... but the fighting only grows as you get closer to the peak.

New Raid: Lugh Lamhfada
Lost to history and wielding the mythical sword Fragarach, Lugh Lamhfada seeks retribution against those who have forgotten his glory and disregarded his honor. Will you have the courage to face the lost hero and at long last put his spirit to rest?

Lugh Lamhfada is a powerful warrior, but he's no master swordsman. Between his own magic and the unfathomable power of Fragarach, he has no need for finesse in his attacks. He instead uses quick bursts of teleportation to surprise his opponents with overpowering blows. Lugh can also pin a foe to the ground, making them vulnerable to his attacks if not defended in time.

Fragarach isn't Lugh Lamhfada's only weapon, however. Periodically during the fight, Lugh will rise into the air and bombard the area with Tathlums, mystical orbs that will explode violently... but they can also be collected to negate their explosion and give you a much needed edge against the ancient warrior.

Those that manage to overcome Lugh Lamhfada's teleporting attacks and collection of magical attacks will find components and the recipes for a new set of items. This Cloth armor set is crafted through the Composite system, but the Lugh Lamhfada keystone items can only be found by defeating the ancient warrior himself or through the new Lugh Lamhfada Battle Box.

St. Patrick's Day Outfits and More

St. Patrick's Day is only a week away, and the St. Patrick's outfit is back for the occasion! This bright green suit for both the ladies and the gents is the perfect way to show your Irish pride! They arrive with the new Lugh Lamhfada Battle Box coming with a special bonus and also includes a bright green hair color available for all hair styles, a new Inner Armor and more!

Find out more in the St. Patrick's Day Outfits post.

Easter Egg Events

Easter's coming soon, and Ernmass in Colhen is looking for some help to get the yearly celebration off the ground. In addition to claiming Easter Eggs for the Fluffy Halo item, there's a pair of events giving you more departures to take down Lugh Lamhfada and gain a special reward for showing your mastery over him.

Find out more in the Easter Egg Events post.

You could fill an olympic pool with all the mmos, free to play and otherwise, that have died since VinD came out in North America. VinD is still kicking, and there's two good reasons for that: 1) it's a great game, and 2) it has a great business model.

As far as skill based action mmos, no other game is even close to over the VinD experience. This game looks better in DX9 than half the junk coming out in 2016. It plays better than anything in the genre.

If you hate the cash shop in this game then you've never seen a bad cash shop. Frankly it's as benign as imaginable. If you never want to spend a dime, you sure can. But you probably should, and it will improve your experience, even if it doesn't make you stronger.

Some Cons:
There's no real PvP in this game (nobody plays it anyways), just competing against others to do more damage. If you have a bad connection, you're going to have a bad time. This game does not love potato PCs, or lag. The servers are held together by paperclips and glue.

TL;DR - Improvements abound from back when. Not without flaws, this is a definate play for anyone who likes action combat! Bring a friend!

After a long time of playing this game I can finally say that recently, I've found that they have had their ups and downs, but I whole heartedly recommend this game to anyone who wants a free, fun game to play with some hard core action combat!

- Cash shop items from revives to EXP boosts can now be purchased with AP (Skill points) which only requires that you play to earn.

- The grind is very VERY reduced from it's old standard, making it much easier and more enjoyable to level up and reach the end game. They've done well in reducing it.

- All characters are fun and have their own distinct playstyles. Choose the character you want, some are easier than others, but all are fun!

Play this with a friend and have a blast, or play alone, even raiding can be done alone with ease now, thanks to a new "Easy" mode they added. If you can't find a party for a raid, you can run it Solo on easy and SMASH the boss and move forward with your quests! Or, bring some friends and smash it on higher difficulties for more loot and experience.

If I were to take a step out and personally say something here, I prefer Vindictus over Tera. I do NOT PVP in either game, but I don't play either for that. I prefer the PVE (Monster killing) in Vindictus simply because the combat has more weight and meat to it. You can feel (Especially with bass) each strike.

I highly recommend Vindictus now. It's fun, it's free, and there's nothing against trying it! It feels that the developers are honestly trying to adhere to the market of today, and it's something I really appreciate.

If you want a score.

8/10 Really fun, great with friends, SMASH EVERYTING

When I played regularly it was during season 1. The game worked well and if you found an active community it made the game worthwhile. THe amount of repetition and grinding with the largest of bosses is what you will do a lot of and get frustrated with. A quick list is this:
+ Pros:
+differing bosses offering a party strategy to make the enemy easier to deal with
+Lots of different equipment that is both wonderful to look at and varied enough to adapt to different playstyles
+New content added monthly ensures something new to do often
+Skill matters, this game may have a lot of things built into stats, but you can overcome a great deal of it with skill. keeping you focused on being able to do better despite not having the best/rarest equipment.
+Many different characters that can play quite differently from another and even different still based on weapon choice
+Co-operation is a must. If you want to win the battle people must co-operate together or the battle is lost, this forces toxic players to be viewed negatively until they quit since no one will party with them.

- Cons:
-When you join during a big event you are swept up levels beyond learning the fundamentals, thus ruining time& efford premise
-Many battles can be determined based on who is a good host or not, if your PC sucks or you have a bad connection it will suck for everyone else if you host.
-Steep learning curve beyond level 60. If you joined and got advanced up to 60+ without knowing the game, people are going to get mad at you. This is because it is literally easier to go without on an unskilled player.
-The Pay-To-Win/Pay-To-Stay structure. The game can get boring and repetative. To combat this, many people will upgrade equipment and lose it or pay $100+ for anti-descruction items in-game.

These days it seems that the game is trying harder and harder to get people upgraded to new content in super fast ways, with fast levels, tons of AP given away and all without issuing a basic understanding of the game mechanics.
Keep in mind that while this game is not strictly Play-To-Win it is deeply encouraged by the game's gear upgrade system. When gear reaches a certain point you can break the item altogether by trying to upgrade it. However, many people are stat snobs and will not allow others to join them if they are not a certain att/attack number. This is because if you do not meet these requirements the boss fights may last 40-60 minutes to defeat and after 60 minutes the battle ends in a loss.
The main reason for battles is loot and loot is materials used in creating more powerful weapsons/armor.
The story gets weak after season 1 as the game's world loses cohesiveness. Rather than a world of gothic arcitecture and old-timey hamlets; the game's world becomes akin to super mario 64 in that it can't keep to a single theme for long.

Overall I would recommend if you are looking for something to do for quite a few hours and want to socialize while in a game.
Do not seek this game if you have little time to spend on a game as you will get nowhere fast when you reach the highest levels and tiers of equipment.

-Amazing game. Fighting mechanics are pretty cool, but can get repetitive.

-Bosses learn how you play, and counter your playing style (in the later levels) and it gets very difficult; makes for great fun.

-Market has inflated immensly, and it is difficult to come by gold.

-Community lacks sufficient players at times, and it can be hard to find people to quest with. BRING FRIENDS.

-This game grows more and more addicting the longer you stick around.

-Very cool weapons and armor in later levels.

yea thats's it <3

It's been almost four years. Four years of endless raids, failed enhancements, countless revives, and $10 hair. Vindictus is a great game, don't get me wrong. The combat system is like no other; it's not just a point-and-click adventure, it's a time-based, active style of playing. There is plenty of stuff to do as well, such as improving your expertise, building and getting the best gear, getting 500+ titles, helping out your guildmates, waiting for the Korean updates to come to NA, dressing up your female characters ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), spending millions on dyes for your armor and outfits because you need to have that A E S T H E T I C, destroying your weapon while attempting to get +15 and crying afterward, and more! There are currently 10 classes (some of which have alternate weapon choices), which makes for a variety of playing styles. If you ever get bored, just make an alt! Although the character creator is not as advanced as BDO's or other MMOs, you can still have fun with it, and make your characters really ♥♥♥♥ing fat, like really huge, it's funny (and I'm terrible.).

If you enjoy being a meat shield, then you will like Fiona.
If you love K-Pop, than you will looooooove Sylas.
If you like shooting ♥♥♥♥ from far away, then you will like Kai.
If you like having two swords because one is not enough for you, then you will like Lann.
If you don't like Lann because he's a dude, then you will like Vella.
If you love big breasted women with magical swords, then you will like Arisha.
If you are into big, meaty, dark, muscular men, then you will love Karok.
If you like barely-legal girls, then you will adore Lynn.
If you are into girls, and magic, and by extension magic girls, then you will dig Evie.
If you like dudes that need phallic compensation, then you will enjoy Hurk.

Overall this game is really fun, especially with friends, and also a huge waste of time; it's great! Oh and the bots actually help the economy stay stable, go figure!

Vindictus a game I've played in the past and continue to return in hopes of its improvement, only to be upset time and time again.

The game has great potential, but appears to be lacking in many aspects that make it a game I would recommend. My highest characters are nearing their 50s, and I've gotten that far with 3 different characters. This is entirely based off of my experience and the experience of others I have played with. I have participated in some endgame content such as dragon raids, which I found to be fun even though I died a lot, but I will not be covering that in this review.

Combat

++ Physics
++ Classic Hack and Slash
+ "Greater" Raids offer unique gameplay not seen as much in the Story

+- Fun w/ killing your friends via the environment
+- Spear Throw friend/foe (does no damage to friend)
+- Fluid and seamless depending on your specs, server, settings

- "Greater" Raids require 16 players to start
- Repetitive use of Skills
- Becomes more repetitive the higher your level

Gameplay

++ Limitless amount of AP (skill points) to spec every skill
+ Gold is an easily obtainable resource
+ Quests sometimes chain through completion (Doing one dungeon sometimes completes two quests)

- Storage is Limited unless you pay and a lot of resources are necessary for quests/crafting
- Linear Environment/Dungeons
- Linear Quest Line
- Linear Way to Kill Bosses - 1 Strategy is usually the most effective and used above all other strategies
- Bosses an enemies do not vary much every 10 levels
- Repeating the same dungeon more than twice - becomes more repetitve at higher levels
- As you level drop rates on items for quests become lower
- Upgrading is high risk or extremely expensive (RNG)

UI

+ Titles

- Cannot View channel location of friends via friend list
- Cannot View location of friends on the minimap
- Cannot Search for Unadded Friends in Friend Menu
- Emotes are hidden need to be googled
- Marketplace/Guild Search appear to be quite slow and may be using Internet Explorer
- Inactive Guilds die, leadership is not transferred

Cash Shop

+ Some of the greatest quality and entertaining costumes and goodies excessible in the RPG world

+- Nexon makes money primarily from costumes and so it appears to have become the focus of the game
+- Almost every second patch has a new costume
+- Wealth of a player shines, people will take their time to oggle you

- Players more interested in costumes than the actual gameplay
- Overpriced AND Restricted relative to other RPGs (common in many Nexon games)
- A bum is still a bum if they enter this game, the costumes and cash shop content are promoted so much that many active players end up buying it and new players or those that cannot afford it feel pressured or distaste.

Other

+ Controls are fair, supporting 3 modes

+- You use the same armor/weapon for most of the game

- Bugs take years to fix
- Sound quality is average
- Music is repetitive
- Monster cries, screams repetitive

Last thoughts:

This is a game you want to play with friends, preferrably join a guild or create one for the exp boost when you party together. This game a lot of perks to group play, but is not as rewarding to solo players.

I tried to enjoy Vindictus. Honestly I'm not sure there's anything wrong with it, mechanically. There's a diverse range of classes, lots of enemies to beat up, nice artwork, amusing physics. I just found it very boring. It made me want to play a cooperative Devil May Cry, but no such thing exists. The individual levels are very samey, the music is forgettable. The weapons are cool, though. I would certainly recommend it before other Nexon games, but that's not saying much.

As much as I play solo (and honestly I prefer it that way), past level 60 you're going to need help on the raids. While they are entirely possible to solo, they can be fustrating to learn, and extra hands makes the game A LOT easier. Thankfully easy mode is a thing, and despite the lesser drops from bosses on it, if you're like me and enjoy solo play, its a life saver.

I still find this game fun, and even more fun since I've fallen in love with Arisha, but if you plan on picking this game up expect a lot of solo play, or if you can, get a friend to play with you.

Just be prepared to grind for materials if you want to do end game raids because people can be pretty elitest

I loved this game when I played it regularly. I have since moved on to play other games but I loved the combat and gameplay in vindictus. The costumes and customization was among my favorite in any game I've played and having pets was of course a bonus. I would play this off and on if only the community and the game economy didn't die.

This is in my opinion one of the best free to play online games of at least 2016. Vindictus is a really good free to play rpg on steam at the moment. The fact that it is multiplayer is cool because you can help or recive help from other people playing the game, the custimization in the game is amwesome the only thing I don't like all that much is that some styles and colors for your character you have to pay for and they aren't even permenat. This is mostly a positve game overall and I would suggest this game to everyone. One last thing if you don't have the "best" computer this is a good game for you the low setting in the game is still really pretty and runs pretty good! (sorry for my bad spelling)
