Galactic Standards for all your achievements!

September 19

Pilots! Congratulations on successfully repelling the Alien attack. The enemy has retreated, this is our first big victory! In honour of these brave efforts we would like to reward every one of our pilots.

From this point on, all achievements will be rewarded with Galactic Standards. This system will persist in the future. We will pay this new wage for all the achievements you earn in battles and expeditions.

In addition, in honour of the first victory over the Aliens, Centre decided to further reward all distinguished pilots and issue Galactic Standards not only for the future ones, but also for all the achievements you already got — from the very beginning of the game!

You will find your prizes for the achievements in the game mail very soon. Please note that this special offer is limited! You'll be able to receive a reward for past services only this weekend. Launch the game often and always check for new messages!

The enemy is not defeated. It's still cunning and very dangerous. We won the first battle, but the war is not over, so we still need your help. This is just the beginning!

Story

Three thousand years have passed since the first colonists left Earth. Now the galaxy is divided between the militant star empires and independent mercenary groups. In a remote corner of the galaxy — Sector 1337, the area of the dead — a world has been left behind. Here, the ruins of a great civilization of Aliens have recently been discovered. Huge factories and sprawling cities are falling into decay. Fragments of ships lie on the fields where massive battles were once fought. But there is not a living soul. Everything has been destroyed by a mysterious Cataclysm — a pulsing anomaly that burned out all life within this sector.

This doesn’t stop mankind, the new «owner» of the Universe. Mercenaries and adventurers have flocked to the sector to sift through the ruins and loot its abandoned artifacts, without consideration of the danger. Many have disappeared — including members of well-armed expeditions — but those who have managed to return have uncovered unprecedented riches. So looters continue to come here, to find the Aliens’ lost treasures — and to fight for them.

Abusive Admins. WARNING!!!!!

I previously recommended this game, but I can no longer do that in good faith. I was talking in chat, stated an opinion and was muted by an admin for an hour because he wanted to "prove a point." Read some of the other reviews. This is a pretty common issue.

UPDATE: I've now been permanently banned from the discussion page by a moderator because of this. I'm honestly shocked at the blatent abuse of admin privileges. It's a shame because I did enjoy playing this game up until this point.

I've been putting a lot of hours into this game. It's generally good game in terms of gameplay, variety and battles but I'll list out the major cons:

-Extremely grindy

-Despite being called "free to play", people can just pay and advance to higher tiers/ranks. Lets call them Wallet players

-Wallet players who reach higher tiers will get all implants (implants are like the point system tree in borderlands, payday 2 etc)

-Wallet players who have all these implants can go back to lower tiers, are pretty much invincible and have the upper hand in every battle. YOU WILL GET YOUR ♥♥♥ HANDED TO YOU.

Now you may ask Oh my, why would they come back to lower tier games and spoil our fun?. I'll tell you why...
People think this game is really free to play and come into the lower tiers which are the only popluated matches available for instant battles. So the wallet players will just come into lower ranked games because nobody wants to wait 5 minutes for match. This is unsportive behaviour.

-The game developers only seem to update the game in a way that favours wallet players.

-Extra synergy (synergy is experience, you need this to access higher rank ships and higher tiers) cannot be transferred to ships which dont have full synergy. If you want to, you need to pay a lot of money.

-Upgrading weapons to the max requires loyalty points (these can be done by doing special challenges like 'kill 3 ships in one battle'. These challenges are called contracts) And this requires another longg rinding process because contracts can only be done certain times. Some contracts can only be done once per day. Or you can just pay money and upgrade your weapons.

-The game has an option to enable the profanity filter to filter explicit words for the faint hearted man-children. Despite this, uttering an explicit word in a moment of frustration will get you chat muted. This has happened to me countless times.

Now you might say "Oh you're just talking out of your behind, there's no such thing as paying to get an advantge in this game!"

You are either blind and didn't read all the above

OR

You already spent a ♥♥♥♥ton of money on the game and are comfortable knowing that you spent $$$ on digital flying machines.

ANY game that offers you the chance to pay money and progress in any way that puts you in a place that is unreachable to the common player without tremendous grinding is known as "Pay to win". And this game is a shining example of it.

The game is very very monotonous. Basically it is like a team domination game (like in unreal tournament) but in space, with very unbalanced players, and when you rank up you will have to start over again to build up your new ship. All the points you earned in previous battles wiht your last ship cannot be transferred (unless you pay), weapons from your last ship rarely can be transferred an basically you do the same over and over again. Anyway, you can give it a try during a couple of days like I did until you get bored.

Great game alot of fun....1 problem and its akinda a big one......i feel like 90% of the time i end up waiting 15 minutes for a game then that game lasts 2 min at most....they need to fix the server matching in a big way because of this i feel the game is ulmost unplayable. the 2 minute games arnt bad there fun all the time but the 5+ minute wait happens 90% of the time making this nothing but a waist of time over all.

Grindfest to the max. Pretty much just doing the same thing over and over, day in and day out, feeling like you're actually achieveing something. This game used to be a lot of fun. Maybe because the lower tier ships weren't so maddeningly far out of reach. I used to feel like I didn't have to spend money to enjoy this game. Then I bought a 3 month license just to start progressing. After all the effort I put into the game and not progressing very much, I had to take a long break from it. Came back after roughly 3 months and it's still pretty much the same game. Ridiculously long wait times to actually play, even more attempts to convince you to spend real money on the game.

The devs are moving it in a new direction, which is nice, but this is one of those games where I wish it wasn't just a perpetual beta. Just like FireFall, it seems the devs are focusing on the wrong areas and are adding new content without addressing existing issues. Feels like a huge letdown. Granted, it is free to play, but I was hoping for something more.

If you've played World of Tanks, you've already played Star Conflict. Sadly, I had let them both go. Seems too many games fade out because it's all a money grab... It might be for you, but after more than a year, I've come to realize this is not for me. Take my input with a grain of salt. You never know what you'll like unless you play it.

Massive space battles with customizable ships. Lots of fun, simple to get into, increased depth the longer you play. Good game.
While some people will always complain about the grind and the buy-to-win in a free-to-play game, the developers managed an interesting balance in those topics.
Don't get me wrong, there is some grind. But when compared to other free-to-play tittles, it's not that much.

As for the win-to-play that often puts off people in free to play games, I have to disagree with whoever thinks this about Star Conflict. Ships are divided into tiers, and each tier can have 2 to 4 ships of each class, with increasing effectiveness. Battles match-making is also divided into tiers. This means that when you get to rank 3 (the last of tier 1), if you are any good you will be owning battles like a boss. But as soon as you get to tier 2, a whole new world of ships, more effective, with better pilots, and more ships modules(skills), you will be like the little fish in the pond of sharks.... again. That is, untill you get the best ships in that tier as well. Same happends when you jump from tier 2 to 3, and from 3 to 4, and so on.
This leads to some people thinking they are dying because the other player has a premium ship.
Wrong.
While premium ships do have a very slight advantage in their stats, most of the time it's irrelevant. A good pilot is born from experience. Of course, premium ship owners are usually good pilots. Often only play with that ship and become very good with it.
But the slightly better stats will only make a slight difference in a 1 on 1, with 2 very good pilots. Any premium ship gets utterly destroyed with a simple 2 to 1. And lets face it:
If you and your team can't do a 2 to 1 in a 10 vs 10 battle, then you deserve to loose against him.

Finally, ships tend to get more effective as tiers go up, and pilots also become better with experience. This leads to the tactical side of the batlles to become more apparent as you go up, as well as taking longer to get decided.
The different ship classes are also well done, with each having it's own specific role.

In the end, and considering there is nothing of the kind in recent game releases, together with the competent work Gaijin did with Star Conflict, this game is mandatory to any spaceship combat fan.

Me? I was waiting for something like this since Colony Wars and Freelancer.
