Story

Three thousand years have passed since the first colonists left Earth. Now the galaxy is divided between the militant star empires and independent mercenary groups. In a remote corner of the galaxy — Sector 1337, the area of the dead — a world has been left behind. Here, the ruins of a great civilization of Aliens have recently been discovered. Huge factories and sprawling cities are falling into decay. Fragments of ships lie on the fields where massive battles were once fought. But there is not a living soul. Everything has been destroyed by a mysterious Cataclysm — a pulsing anomaly that burned out all life within this sector.

This doesn’t stop mankind, the new «owner» of the Universe. Mercenaries and adventurers have flocked to the sector to sift through the ruins and loot its abandoned artifacts, without consideration of the danger. Many have disappeared — including members of well-armed expeditions — but those who have managed to return have uncovered unprecedented riches. So looters continue to come here, to find the Aliens’ lost treasures — and to fight for them.

I started playing this game when it was in a very early stage. You might even say it was a beta stage. The game was great, 2 PvE levels, a good ship tiering system, balanced gameplay for paying and non-paying players...

... But all that changed when 'the update' came (around last year or so). Ships that had certain powers suddenly had different (underpowered) powers, other ships that had certain 'roles' suddenly became other roles and you had to dismantle your entire ship and buy new items for it. PvE became less rewarding and paying players became extremely overpowered, almost forcing you to buy stuff/experience yourself.

And when a F2P game is forcing me to buy stuff, that is where I draw the line and stop playing. You should not even start this up, it will only end in frustration.

Mixed feelings. Good Game, but abusive admins.

Game it self is good and highly addicting. Its a space shooter the maps look good. Not many like it. Its grindy like most free to plays.

Now the bad.

1. Most expensive free to play I have encountered. I have about $800 in this game.

2. The Admins are abusive and insulting. All the admin are aged 15 to 22. Don't ask how i know, just trust me I did the research. That should explain the bullying issue right there. There are many other who have stated the same thing in their reviews about admin abuse.

3. Mature rated game that curses at you, but even discussing moderation will get you banned let alone if some ones says any foul words. There is a profanity filter, so their really is no need for them to troll the chat box like they do.

4. Once you progress to the upper tiers, their matchmaking takes a long time. Sometimes longer than 10 minutes for a round that last as short as 2 minutes. The only way to keep from going bored to death is to hit the chat box which will lead you into trouble even if you do not use profanity.

I have a in game clan. Its been very successful (top 10 most of the time) and is the reason I have so many hours and money in this game. Many times I have the game open just to capture the chat logs to help my fellow members later on when I get back.

My main issues is; I should be treated better simply because I have invested so heavily into this game. As far as pay to win, that's not what I was expecting, nor is it so. I am not a rule breaker. I always help people, and yet this is the only game ever where I have been moderated, let alone banned multiple times.

"Abusive Admins. WARNING!!!!!

I previously recommended this game, but I can no longer do that in good faith. I was talking in chat, stated an opinion and was muted by an admin for an hour because he wanted to "prove a point." Read some of the other reviews. This is a pretty common issue.

UPDATE: I've now been permanently banned from the discussion page by a moderator because of this. I'm honestly shocked at the blatent abuse of admin privileges. It's a shame because I did enjoy playing this game up until this point."

This is an instance where I wish there was a "meh" option instead of just the yes or no on the recommendation. As F2P games go it's not terrible, a bit like a space-WarThunder. But I'd have to say no on the recommendation anyway because the amount of progress you make in the free sense trails off pretty quickly.

It's pretty, it's fun, it's amusing, but unless you start throwing money at it you never feel like you make it past level 5 or so, and that's intensely frustrating as you start getting thrown into matches with the players who HAVE paid and will slaughter you.

Ahhh.... The third and most disappointing pay2play game I have reviewed today.

This game get's a big fat F.

Why? Well despite having some fun gameplay and enjoyable style of gamemodes, this game is entirely pay2play/pay2win. There are way too many games like this, that are giving you a free platform to play with, but without any conents. Every aspect of customizing your ship costs money. You can't even change the color of your ship without a pricetag being involved.

Booooooooooooooooooooo. Not cool dude!

Then what really ticked me off was the fact that I purchased new weapons(with the in-game battle currency, not real money) and I couldn't even equip them on the my ship. In the help section it explained that they were unavailable(Greyed over).

Ok, so answer me this devs.

Why was I allowed to buy something that wasn't even available in the first ****ing place? I spent my credits on items that were never usable to begin with. That is beyond stupid to me! Your game is officially unplayable for me.

Cool looking game, But as for team play I suggest finding friends to play with. There is a big pay to win aspect to this game and most people would rather rage quit rather then sit through a whole match. 5/10

Sadly, I do not recommend this game. It had great gameplay before the patch of last year, and I gave up since. I decided to give the game a fair try by playing on my friend's account (he is on tier 4) and the pay-to-win factor is at an all time high. It gets rather annoying, knowing that a "free" to play game is so prominately dominated by people who buy their ships and weapons. Whereas in games like tf2, the people who pay get equipment that is grossly overpowered, and people who stay free--either due to no money or no care to buy things--seemingly cant win. Above this, however, I've seen problems with the administrators. They seem rather...rude, to put it in nice terms. And with that concept, they are fairly jerks. The devs are the same way, though in more of a racist aspect (Russians being the overlords). Anyway, to kilter back to subject, I do NOT reccomend this game unless you want a fair share of ragequits and unenjoyable experiences.

i haven played this game in a few years. i'm going to give the pve thing a shot and see if you can actually "explore" the galaxy as the video stats. if i cant then the recommendation of the game stays the same.

update: when i last played this game it was heavily pvp based which to be honest is just terrible game play.
its basically like call of duty in space, which means its very unoriginal and not good for starters.

Star Conflict reminds me of War Thunder with a look of EVE Online and I love it.

Pro's-
Spectacular graphics
Smooth controls
In-game voice chat
Oculus Rift and Joystick compatable
6 PVP gamemodes and a large variety of maps
Open world PVE as well as 9 co-op PVE mission instances, starting off at lvl 1
3 different factions you can choose to fight and fulfill contracts for at any time
138 standard ships and 63 premium ($$)
Large varity of weapons, utilities and cosmetics (camo coloring and decals)
Not pay to win (of course spending money will give you a slight advangtage but when will it not in a f2p?)
Log-in with Steam account, no need to make a seperate account in-game

Con's-
You have to watch your mouth around the admins (they're not nice people, very ban/mute happy)
The grind is real
AI can have its moments
Smaller community (Mostly Friendly)
Upper tiers aren't as populated as lower tiers, reducing the content to a 3rd of its potential
A little repetitive
No PVE story-line, quest-line, or campaign
Open-world PVE missions are daily quests, recieving only one or two at a time

Overall, one of the better F2P games I've played and one of the best of its kind. Easily deserves a thumbs up and a try, even if you only play for the first few tiers (about 10 hours of fun gameplay for each faction).

7/10

Space. I love space.

This game starts out fun but it quickly turns into a never ending grindfest. Most free 2 play games are well balanced but you will not find that here. This is most definatly pay 2 win. If you dont use real money you will find yourself at a great disadvatage in every fight. The moderators are what really make this game terrible. People often find themselves muted or temp banned with out ever having done anything worng. The mods live to exert their power and use their muting abilities. I dont throw blame lightly either but the mods here you must avoid at all costs or you too will find yourself muted/banned for the most silly reasons including disagreeing with game tactics.

I'm giving this game the thumbs up purely because I feel that the flight and combat style was the best i've played in quite some time. With the game seamingly more geared towards PvP (like most games nowadays) I felt like the PvE side lacked just a little. PvE had some great missions to play and with each new tier you jumped to in lvl's, you got new and harder missions. I would suggest going with a group of friends as per my experience, the random pugs sat and did nothing half the time just soaking up free XP.. unfortunate.. My biggest gripe with the game was how "grindy" it felt to get anywhere, even with the release of Free Roam (their open world concept) the missions for it felt very "go here, fetch this, drop it here".. Outside of PvE and to the PVP, I don't have any real words other then Carnage and Chaos. Pick something that moves and kill it, before it kills you.

Star Conflict features excellent ship designs and maintains a high graphical fidelity. However, the gameplay feels stale and overly repetitive. It didn't catch my interest the little time I got around to playing it.

This game used to be pretty awesome during its early beta stages. But after a few updates, I can't progress as fast and I seem to have lost most of my money buying weapons that are eventually vetoed out of the game. Leveling up in ranks is easier in robocraft than in this game. I'll stick with that game for now instead.

Its not bad for a free to play game. There are a lot of advantages to paying for upgrades, but i dont really think I would classify it as "pay to win".
