Story

Three thousand years have passed since the first colonists left Earth. Now the galaxy is divided between the militant star empires and independent mercenary groups. In a remote corner of the galaxy — Sector 1337, the area of the dead — a world has been left behind. Here, the ruins of a great civilization of Aliens have recently been discovered. Huge factories and sprawling cities are falling into decay. Fragments of ships lie on the fields where massive battles were once fought. But there is not a living soul. Everything has been destroyed by a mysterious Cataclysm — a pulsing anomaly that burned out all life within this sector.

This doesn’t stop mankind, the new «owner» of the Universe. Mercenaries and adventurers have flocked to the sector to sift through the ruins and loot its abandoned artifacts, without consideration of the danger. Many have disappeared — including members of well-armed expeditions — but those who have managed to return have uncovered unprecedented riches. So looters continue to come here, to find the Aliens’ lost treasures — and to fight for them.

Glorified grinding. Except it's not very glorious.

Flight and combat is brain numbingly simple; all ships have the same weapon placements. They can shoot best in front and slightly above, decently to the sides and some slightly behind (frigates, cruisers, etc) and not below or behind. Everything feels and flies like a fighter so there s no feeling of flying a big, badass cruiser armed to the teeth.

Extremely limited armaments; you get a main weapon and missiles. And maybe an offensive ability. There are no broadside cannons backed up by short range lasers, with a forward facing railgun for taking out large ships. Nay, none of these ships have any sort of diversity at a given moment, and the options for weapon mounts themselves are pretty limited. Missiles come in several flavors, from "stronger, get with paid-for (yeah, I did the match, 30 cents for a one game use set of missiles.) currency" to "I'm smart enough to only spend the grindable credits for this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t."

As a result, there's no real strategy beyond deathballing with your team and simply being more accurate with your pew pews (and having higher tier ships and equipment, of course). Positioning does not matter beyond using asteriods to block missiles (I seemed to be the only one smart enough to do this in all of my matches.. lol)

I was most interested in PvP but I quickly found that you don't face any players until you get rank 5 ships... easily several hours playtime to get barely there. So starting out, you get to fight nothing but not so smart bots. And then there's PvE and Co-Op with even more bots that are still not very smart, just more plentiful and calling upon greater pools of health and shields. Simply wonderful (awful). PvP was eventually reached and the experiece was only slightly better than playing with the bots. But bots actually fought for objectives.. so it could be arguably worse?

Objective based games were terribly shallow. Typical "capture the beacon" or "deliver the bomb" sort of stuff. The only mode that was genuinely fun to play was one where one player from both teams would be randomly selected to be the Captain. As long as the Captain was alive, ships respawned. To win the match the enemy Captain had to be eliminated along with all other ships. The couple of matches I got to play this game mode were a good tug of war with all ships on offense ready to scramble back to protect the Captain at a moment's notice.

Unfortuneately, the entire time I was never impressed with myself after killing 9 enemies in a row within a minute because it's easy. Skill makes no difference; all you need is a good mouse and the ability to track a little circle with it.

Did I have fun? Meh. Only in one mode, after hours of grinding to get to where I could actually play against PEOPLE instead of STUPID BOTS.

Are the mechanics solid? Of course, the game is well designed but far too minimalistic.. overall the simplicity makes it lackluster.

Was it pretty? Hell yeah. Very nice looking game, at least. It just doesn't have the gameplay to boot.

Verdict: 4/10 only because Captain assassination halfway made up for the rest of the time I wasted on this game. At least it was free.

Farming for weeks and then paying millions and more millions of credits and eventually even currency that you mostly have to purchase with real money on top just to get a big, pretty ship?
No. Go ♥♥♥♥ yourself. That's bland, boring and overall stupid.

This game's microtransactions are so up-in-your-face, it's actually unbelievable.
"Buying galactic currency makes your game progression easier and more comfortable."
When someone advertises their microtransactions like THAT, you know their ♥♥♥♥'s ♥♥♥♥ed.
For the amount of money these guys get by doing this, they should at least invest in good servers.
3/10 pretty ships, otherwise a pain in the ♥♥♥. Classic Gaijin Entertainment.

Pros:
Lots of f2p content.
Lots of ship customization and types, this accounts to a number of various play styles.
Fantastic gameplay and immersive controls (Unless you have latency problems) <-- hint* you will owo
Diverse ship design among the different factions.
Fractions are unique.
Just about everything you could wish for in terms of settings.

Cons:
The maps sometimes feel the same, with a lack of depth.
Constant latency problems (Seemingly puts you in random region servers regardless of settings or location)
-This makes the game almost unplayable, breaking any immersion you might have.
The Grind pass tier 6 is insane and repetitive, this is of course unless you have money irl :l
The developers seem to be part of the problem (long standing bugs still plague this game)
The game lacks any real matchmaking after tier 4, you will be paired up with higher tiers.
-You will often play the same maps and scenarios.
-Matchmaking can take up to 5 minutes, sometimes longer.
The community is pretty much non existent.
p2w

The verdict:
All and all this game brings alot to the table content wise, but truly suffers from a lack of polish.

Would I recommend this game? - Yees, for the frist few hours this game is truly enjoyable and is worth checking out.

Do I personally enjoy this game? - Not really owo

6/10

Star Conflict, a game where you can fight in PvP battles in teams, play as a squad to complete missions, fly in open space and collect resources, earn various currencies to gain access to upgrades for your equipment, compete in specially formatted Dreadnought battles for sectors and build your corporation to be the best it can be.

For a game that can be entirely free to play, this game is a great game. If you wish to so invest, I recommend the Elite Pilot package and the Galaxy Explorer, which will give you three top range fighter ships as a straight up bundle and 35,000 galactic standards to have fun with. The game staff also put sales on for occasions and even do weekend deals, where you can play and gain extra for your work and investment into playing; in other words, the more you play, the more the game will help you.

Only thing wrong with the game is the standard of bug testing. Recently heard problems with MacBook Air running OSX El Capitan, but I have been running this game on my 4 year old MacBook Pro for 3 years now and it's working absolutely fine (also on El Capitan). Few texture bugs, but will be resolved soon.

At first I was very excited about this game. I was looking for a Space game, but after playing it for something around one year, I saw both development and community go down the pipes. First of all, the developers don't care about veterans. They behave lime most of the grievers in the community forum and I was even translating the game until the day they paid me less than one third of what I was making before. I was paid in ingame premium currency and that was usefull as I did not put real money in the game, only hours of work for them. I was actually proud of it for a while. But the thing is, I wanted to be a pirate (achievement ingame, as a matter of fact) and being a pirate was becoming impossible update after update. As an arcade game, I would assume most of the people playing it don't really care about progression and those who do, are only competing with themselfs in a real annoying way in this game. I felt left behind, especially after the last update I saw where you could fly a ship in open space and not be attacked by any other player. That was the final stab on my back... I had to leave. I even heard from developers that I got what I deserved, as if I creating a problem, by playing the game towards one of it's achievements. Needless to say, I end up not playing a game that is free to play, just because community, development plans and behaviour is unacceptable. Not to mention the never ending grinding that will always ask for more of your time, rather than give you time to enjoy it.

BEHOLD THE GRINDY "FREE-"TO-PLAY spaceship fighter sim that is star conflict
the game is as you can expect really stingy on the level-up's for you.

not to sound salty, but it will take you 250 hours to get halfway in the game
without using any of your money, and when you do use money the values of
what you get feels to little bang-for-buck.

if you want to play i recommend that you do it casually, every day you get 3-4
bonuses on things you can do, i recommend that you only win once for the bonuses
and go play something else afterwards, this way it wil keep the game fresh to you
and you will waist less time and the game will be more fun...

the better you get the harder the game will make it, every 2 hour regardless if you
play or not it will decrees in hardness and that's why you should play this game as
little as possible, it does not want you to play it.

Quite interesting game, it takes some skill to command and manuever the ships. Despite being addicting at first, the PvE missions get a bit too repetitive afer awhile. They can be challenging too, which is very positive. However, the PvP is very unbalanced as it matches new players with high geared ones, making the matches very biased. The upgrade system is intuitive and choice-free since it allows players to choose certain ship paths. Ovearall, this is an interesting game, specially for those who love sci-fi and space games.
