26-04-2016 RaceRoom has been updated

26-04-2016

We understand that some of our players are experiencing crashes when loading into or during game session in Nordschleife. While we have made some optimizations it is still possible that you may experience crashes due to memory allocation failure. If this occurs, you can try the following to reduce the overall memory usage.
- Disable replay recording. This is done by adding -disableReplay to Steam Launch Options.
- Turn Opponent cockpit off in Video Settings.
- Reduce Track and Car Texture Quality in Video Settings.
- Reduce Shader and Car Reflection Quality in Video Settings.

Some users have reported that loading a car with a custom car setup after a physics update was deployed would sometimes result in a broken car behavior. We recommend to Reset your car setup to the new default values to prevent any such issue.

Update Highlights:
- Fixed the join lag in multiplayer
- Unlocked bigger grids for everyone in dedicated servers
- Chat messages in MP are now yellow and allow 156 characters
- Group 5 class physics update
- Ford Mustang GT3 moved to GTR3 class

Game:
- Fixed an issue with game finding wrong camera in pitlane.
- Fixed so game gets properly paused in singleplayer race monitor if the user opens the steam overlay.
- Fixed a crash that could occur during loading.
- Reduced memory usage when loading into a level.
- Fixed an issue in Garage menu where FFB remained active
- Fixed an exploit that allowed players to use lower fuel quantities in Leaderboard Challenges and Competitions.
Due to this exploit we will soon remove entries that were created since the exploit was introduced.
- Fixed an issue in pitstops where it would take extra 3-4 seconds after confirming 0L fuel or if the pit stop preset had no fuel needed. The game now it checks if fuel will be added, if not it cancels that action. If it was the only action, whole pitstop is cancelled.
- Fixed cars full throttling at pitstops.
- Fixed an issue where players were getting cut track penalties at pit entry.
- Added missing fallback pages for DTM 2015 that was causing infinite black screen at launch for players when they failed to get the online loading screen.
- Fixed issue with compact data display being positioned incorrectly on different aspect ratios.
- Added default profiles and wheel ranges for Thrustmaster 150 and TMX wheels.
- Added proper filtering to car setup load/save system.
- Restyled the car setup a little.
- Fixed an issue that was causing a crash at launch if the player had an older version of graphics.xml
- Fixed header formatting for certain system backend requests that might reduce certain timeouts.

Multiplayer:
- Fixed the severe freeze that occurred in MP when another player joins.
- Added Bigger grids to player dedicated servers.
Please note the max opponent allowed depends on your track rotation. E.g. If you have a track that only has 24 slots in your rotation, that will be your max opponent allowed overall, despite having a track that goes up to 100. This is to ensure no one gets kicked out/disconnects when they choose to continue to next track. If you want 100 cars you have to make sure not to include a track with less grid slots available.
Please also note that the game becomes quite laggy after 40. While we will look into optimizing things, you should avoid setting a track with more than 35-40 opponents.

- Fixed so the player is put on the Garage menu after pressing and holding ESC instead of having to press and hold ESC twice
- Increased chat message max length to 156.
- Changed message area/box text color to yellow so it’s more readable if background is white.

Sounds, Cameras, Physics & AI:

- Group 5 class : Physics update, sounds adjusted. Due to the physics update the leaderboards of these cars are wiped.
- WTCC 2015 class : BOP adjustment in preparation of TCOne, AI tweaks
- Ford Mustang GT3 : Moved to GTR3 class, physics & sound update
- GTO Classics Class : AI tweaks, improved fuel estimates
- Audi 90Q : Fixed cases where the car would fail to park into the pit spot.
- Audi R18 P1 : Removed the flame on backfires (Diesel…) and fixed a case where the suspension arms would break on front wheels when applying a high amount of steering
- Mistral 530 and DMD P20 : Fixed suspension arms breaking under high steering
- P4/5 Competizione : Added Downshift Prevention beep
- Hockenheim : Camera sets added
- Suzuka : Fixed incorrect spawn positions when using high amount of opponents
- Nordschleife - 24H layout : AI tweaks
- Shanghai : Fixed AI going too fast into the hairpin

Art:
- Bentley Continental GT3 : Approvals tweaks
- Group 5 class: Fixed holes in shadows
- Chevrolet Dekon Monza : Fixed some cockpit gauges
- Nissan Skyline 2000RS : Fixed tacho dial
- Ford GT GT3 : Fixed some blurps of pixels on the side mirrors
- Ford Mustang GT3 : Improved some old looking textures on the tail lights
- BMW M3 E30 : Wheels were not perfectly round, causing weird FFB signals
- Brands Hatch : Fixed a hole in the ground
- Hockenheim : Fixed a hole in the ground on the inside of Sachskurve
- Norisring : Fixed some normals on pitbuilding, tuned IGA banners for a better visual fit, tweaks to generics and props
- Salzburgring : Reduced grip, Moved tyre stacks a bit further away from the apex
- Zandvoort : Upped the maximum opponents to 32

Portal:
Fixed an issue where players would get different total price depending on the order of packs in cart. Portal now always ensures player gets the highest discount regardless of order.

“There's the accessibility, and the way it's just as satisfying to play on a cheap pad as it is on an expensive wheel set-up; how the handling is translated sublimely through both. And what handling it is, spread out across a delicious range of thoroughbred racing cars: there are the DTM cars, with their downforce and low-slung lines, that only seem one step removed from the hi-tech of F1, or their WTCC cousins that bounce over kerbs with the kiddish enthusiasm of a go-kart.”

“The sounds, the looks, the feel, it all comes together to form something that is simply a high quality product. Whether you play only the free content, or you buy it all, there is no question that this sim is worth the download.”

As a user of some racecims (mostrly iRacing and rFactor2) I think my review will help who wants some real physics. I've raced in RaceRoom experience (the free content) but I'm very tempted to get some paid ones.

• It's a pretty decent game. It tries hard to be a sim but in "Get Real" the cars are still harder to get damage by crashes than in real world and misses some rules or safety points for multiplayer - like iRacing does very very well.
• Supports steering wheels and FFB.
• You can try it free.
• You can do a test drive in paid cars before decide to buy it or not.

Cons:
• Should have something like safety points - people get no penalty for intentional wrecking or irresponsible behavior
• Some guys going wrong way all race long without being disqualified(hopefully no one would buy some content to do that)
• Off-track slowdown penalty is a bit exagerated

All it does is leave you with a few tracks, and cars and expects you to pay for everything else that's good. Plus all you do is pin out with the cars

Just make the game available offline.
You have so much to loose just because of this. Tons of people not happy about it.
Tons of people that would buy it to play online but they don't because they also want to play singleplayer and enjoy those great cars and tracks and sounds that you put into this game without lag, online rookies, etc.
I don't see justifing in paying for something and depending on the internet to enjoy it.
Every time the internet is down...my money is gone!

I cant wait for the DLC to come out that tells me how to start playing the damn game. Its that clunky. You take a couple days to setup the login/preferences, then you get to the menu which has no "play now" button or just about anything that seems like "heres where you go to actually race in your room"

there's a great game here plays just like the old gtr games, unfortunately it cost's just that bit too much to actually buy it. Especially as alot of the packs overlap content which means you either virtually pay for some stuff twice or buy it all seperately for a bigger price overall. such a shame.

This game has a kinda mix of Project Cars and Forza Motoersport 4.
For a Realistic-Racing game, I recommend it.
For a Racing game, I don't.
It just it isn't an open-world experience that I thought.
I love the Forza series, iRacing and Project Cars, but this game is more of a non-casual racing game.
In my opinion I give it a 8.1/10 for Low-End Performence and Game wise.

I first played this game back in 2013, and was underwhelmed. On a whim, I decided to fire it up again last week, and I've been blown away by just how much it's changed for the better. If you are a fan of motorsport or racing games, I highly recommend this game. The pricing model is a little cumbersome at first, but if you buy a pack such as DTM 2015, you'll find yourself with a fair amount of content for a reasonable price, and you can add more packs gradually if you feel like something different. The inclusion of licensed motorsport series is a plus, and the track list features some interesting European tracks that I haven't seen in many other racing games. The car handling and sounds are outstanding, and the graphics are quite decent too. The actual racing is some of the best I've personally experienced, depending on the AI settings, races can be quite close and the game does a good job of replicating the aggressive doorhandle to doorhandle nature of touring car racing. Perhaps the neatest thing about the game is that you can try it out before commmiting to buy anything, so don't take my word for it, try it out!

I give RaceRoom Racing Experience a solid 8/10.

I like the game, It's a good game. Quite similar (but not as good as AC) to Assetto Corsa and others, only RaceRoom sections it's content packages into different classes and online racing as well (Need a certain class to compete etc.) RaceRoom borrows the physics engine from rFactor (ISI) so nothing over and above what is offered by many other modern sims. In fact, nothing special is being offered at all, except that it is considered the best sounding game. However, this is where it goes sideways..... When the complete package is over $180 dollars CDN it's not very appealing. It's NOT THAT GOOD of a game lol. So having to figure out what content for how much etc, etc, can be taxing. (no, IT IS TAXING). Then realizing you would like another car in the same class to drive (Because I only have one remember), only to find out by the time the exchange rate is calculated, you have spent over 5 bucks on a single car. (This is what they are hoping for I guess) Very poor marketing approach imo. To be honest, I stopped when I got to 40 dollars, and I only own 4 tracks and 11 cars......Nuff said.

I would pass, wait until you can buy everything for $60 or $70 bucks and if the game ain't dead by then, I would tell you to consider it. :(

This title was off to a rocky start but with consistant updates and ehancements has gone from mediocre to most probably the best Sim out there.

Though this sim is listed as a Free 2 Play title and comes with several cars and a few track for nothing - you will need to spend a little cash in order to get the cars and tracks you want. The pricing on these addons is quite minimal and you only need to buy what you actually want and when you want it. Oh and you can test drive every car as many times as you like before deciding if you want to buy it.

Here's the rundown:

Graphics 8/10 - they are by no means bad - in fact the sim looks very natural and life like

Sound 10/10 - You can't get any more real than this without getting in the actual cars. Every detail from transmission whine and chassis squeaks to wind, transmission flex, gravel and reverb etc.. have been taken into account. The sound alone give this sim more immersion than the competition.

Physics 9/10 This score was a few points lower a couple months back, but with recent and ongoing enhancements to several group cars and more being fixed currently, R3e is more than deserving of this rating. If they get all the cars to the level they are achieving with the ones they already edited - I see a glorious 10 out of 10 coming in the near future.

FFB 10/10 - for me it was GSCE that held the title for FFB with AC and RF2 following slighly behind, but R3e has taken that title by leaps and bounds. I know this sounds exagerated, but you have to feel it to believe it - and I've never felt this good behind the wheel in my 15+ years of racecraft.

Car Content Variety 8/10 There are tons of cars available - though the list is still a bit on the short side. This is not to say that I don't have enough cars. The fact is I own more than I've had time to drive, but still wish there were a few Group C cars in the mix as those are my absolute favorites. Did I mention that you can test drive every car without buying.

Car Quality 10/10 - This title is on par with AC when it comes to detail. The exterior/interior along with suspension and tires are all done with upmost attention to even the small details.

Track Content Variety 8/10 Again the amount of tracks are quite limited compared to other titles, but not lacking. Several of my favorite tracks are included (Bathurst, Spa, Nurburgring, RedBull Ring, Suzuka, Nords, etc..) They have also included a lazer scanned Nordschleife into the mix with more lazer scanned tracks to come.

Track Quality 10/10 Right up there with AC and iRacing when it comes to track surface and detail. The sky boxes are absolutely believable and the environmental details are more than real enough to enjoy.

Multiplayer 8/10 Much better racing experience than most sims I've played, but it still has it's issues. The netcode has been updated recently and seems to be working great, but I have not had enough time with it to give it a better score.

Singleplayer 10/10 The AI have been improved greatly and their difficulty can be set to adaptive which takes some patience for them to settle in, but when they do they are a joy to race with. Also the "Experiences" make this title a dream when it comes to playing championships.

Community 10/10 This is probably the least toxic sim community out there. Most everyone is friendly and helpful. The devs are also very active within the forums and listen to the players.

I'm not sure what all I left out, but I'll be sure to update this in the future.
Also: I know this review appears to be written by a fanboy due to the high scores given. I assure you this is not the case. I play many Sims more than I have this. Infact there was a long time which I felt this title was a waste of drive space, but as stated above - it has come a long way.

Whether you're a veteran to racecraft or are a complete newbie, give RaceRoom a try. You have nothing to lose since it can be played for free.

I totally agree on what "Strawberry" has posted here. Overall this game would have big potential. but the world is talking about iRacing, Project Cars, Assetto Corsa etc.
Just sound wise, raceroom is the best what I ever experienced in sims !
I don't understand why games like Project Cars are so famous. Even the tracks are wrong modeled.
I am coming from ps4 and Project Cars. Anyways, I just wanted to say that the fund payment system s... why not 60€ and that it.

It is not "FREE"!! sounds like a cheese TV commercial. Do you wanna cheat us!?

Just wanted to buy the Formula pack for 3,49€. I don't have enough funds in my wallet. Last time I just could pay the amount that was needed. It really makes me angry. I didn't bought that pack this time. It is so complicated compared to Sony.

"Scores"

Graphics and Visuals = 9.5/10

Sound Design = 10/10

Physics = 9/10

Menu and UI = 7/10

DLC and Microtransaction Usage = 2/10

No idea why the mixed review this game got. After the last update (march 16'), this game has to be one of the best sim racing games out there. FFB is just epic and the sound is really top notch. Have GTX 980 ti 6GB so the graphics are really good when maxed out and with fps ranging from 150-160 fps there is nothing to complain about. Also with a huge muticlass grid (99 cars i think) and bmw M6 GT3 (coming very soon), R3E is a must buy for any simracers out there. GTO and formula junior were just released and bmw m6 gt3 coming soon what else would one ask for. And yeah any car can be test driven before buying. Is there any other game that offers this?

If you have a FFB-wheel, do yourself a favor and try this game!
- The tyre physics are based on the ISI Motor engine powering rFactor and make for fantastic car feel.
- The sound is momentarily the BEST(!) in any(!) racing sim out there.

If the pricing model is putting you off, try the free content for a few minutes. If you like that, wait for sales. Last black friday you could buy all content for the price of a normal racing game, as if the freemium model wouldn't exist.

Superb racing sim, I really don't understand the negative reviews, are people expecting a non-realistic arcade racer? Excellent graphics, sound, physics and AI. Playable even with just a gamepad (though you really need at least this, not mouse and keyboard), with the correct settings - visit the Sector 3 forum for help wth controller profiles. Also realtively cheap, if you just focus on a particular class - the ADAC GT Masters pack is good value, comes with all the cars and tracks you need for a championship.

I'm fairly new to PC Simulation gaming, the main reason I bought my rig was for Race Sims and so far my time has been spent mostly on RaceRoom Racing Experience. I can't quite put my finger on why.

the game feels much, much smoother than the other two i've played (Assetto Corsa and Automobilista), i'm yet to give others a go. Along with having a superior sense of speed, I believe the cars handle much closer to their real life counterparts, mainly because i've been behind the wheel of an open wheeler and it bought back a few key memories and feelings.

Annoyingly, the game is a money pit, but hey, the base game is free and i'd be more than happy to invest on just the GT series and WTCC series, but... That's not me, I need them all!!! I've had a blast in the masters and WTCC series so far. I'm really, really hoping they can pick up a WEC license at some point, then this game will literally be my go to.

The tracks seem pretty solid, Brands Hatch feels really solid, incredibly close to the real version, this is the only track I know from person so the only one I can really push. Other tracks also feel solid, Force Feedback seems to be creditable with a nice road feel and tyre lean coming through the wheel nicely.

RaceRoom seems to be the only game to give me a close race all the way through the race, others seem to have the ai drop off a little at stages. My one annoyance with RaceRoom is that I seem to blast the Qualifying 1 or 2 seconds faster than second place but then the ai stick with me through the race, even though my lap times barely drop off from qualifying. Not that i'm complaining, I love bumper to bumper action that the WTCC delivers.

But from my amature opinion, I'd chose RaceRoom over Assetto Corsa and Automobilista, but only for now, Assetto Corsa seems to be going places fast, especially now there's a console version to push the developers a bit. Automobilista is a fantastic sim too, so ♥♥♥♥ing fun, i've never even heard of the developers but they've done a banging job! As soon as they get their hands on a new graphics engine, things are going to go pretty sweetly for them. I believe they got there's engine from the first version of a very popular racing sim with an insane tyre model. They're sticking with it because they know the engine so well which is fair enough, it does need updating though XD

But yeah... Add WEC with multi category racing and i'll fall in love with RaceRoom.

A great sim you can make into your own,

Pros
- A game made by people who have made some of the best racing games/sims in the early noughties GTR GTR2
-Theres something for everybody in the Raceroom portal (and theres always a nice discount from time to time)
-Good phsyics and good car models that seem very accurate to there real life counterparts
-Good FFB on par with other racing simulations and getting better with each new update
-lots of options in the menus for graphics, handling, FFB (Make the game as sim/hardcore as you want or as casual as you want)

Cons
- Adaptive A.I needs some work as it can be 12 seconds faster than you one race, and 5 seconds slower the next
- <<<Always online>>> even if you are just a A.I singleplayer racer or just like to get in those perfect practice/test laps on the track, if the servers crash you cant play your content offline or if you share wireless and you disconnect, so does the game (although the developers have talked about the possibility of offline in the future theres been no news on if or when it will be a feature)

Games with ingame purchase-systems like this, feel very deceitful. Add a few DLC packs and you'll easly surpass €100.
Better save your money and buy a more recent and cheaper game.

By far my favourite sim at the moment.
Force feedback is now fixed for T300 owners and it's fantastic; engine sounds are even more incredibile than before. Plenty of cars - new and oldstyle- to drive. Highly reccommended !

I tell you what...
Driving a car in this game is absolutely amazing. Great FFB, car movements are so realistic, sounds are awesome, graphic is absolutely good and a weaker PC can handle it perfectly. But!!!!!
Driver and steering wheel animations are not really good, but of course you can turn off these.
About the content...
Free content is terrible, so if you want to ENJOY the game you have to pay a lot(in cases). Typical P2E (pay to enjoy) game, which destroys the soul inside me... And THIS is, where developers made a terrible mistake. Would be better if we should pay...let's say 40-50 euros for the game and then all further content will be available. I bet, much more players would play this really-really good game.
One of the best sim I've tried!!
If you have the money (I have it, but this paying system f***s my brain to hell) this game is one of the best choiche.
6/10 because of the money suc*er dev team :(

I really love this game. The forcefeadback is hard but it's set like your in a car so that's cool. I don't like how you have to buy every individual car and pretty much all of the tracks but I guess that's ok. Overall this is a BADA** gam. It really feels like I'm playing iracing. The car sounds are really amazing too. Keep up the good work guys!!! 👍👍👍👍👍✋✋✋

-elég drágák a DLC-k

Don't be fooled by people telling you the content was overpriced. There's lots of it and you can get most or all of it if you get it on sale directly through the in-game store or website for little more than a full-priced game would cost. I payed about 70€ throughout a year and own all but 4 tracks and have access to about every racing class there is (and there's so many). And I could have gotten the same content even cheaper if I waited for some special opportunities.

Just stay away from the packages offered on Steam, they are usually way overpriced. An exception is the new Nürburgring Legends pack. The content, if you don't own anything of it yet, would cost you almost 35 € in the store if you count the single prices for the cars and tracks (which you would normally buy within other packs like GT3, WTCC2015 et cetera where they are also cheaper). Here you can grab it for 15€. With this pack you get two tracks with 7 or 8 layouts, including the Nordschleife, and the cars give you access to about 7 classes I think in which you can participate either in Multiplayer or against AI (AI also uses the cars you don't own yourself). Combine this with the European track pack from the in-game store for example and you already have tons of contents for much less than a full price game would cost you.

Apparently the new WTCC 2015 pack on Steam is also quite a good deal if you don't own any of the content yet and prefer to have access to all cars of the 2015 series. It offers a wide variety of tracks with it.

If you are new to this game, check it out - you get 11 cars and 3 tracks (2 circuits and 1 hillclimb) for free.

The sounds are second to none, absolutely amazing.

The Forcefeedback has just gotten a complete overhaul so even if you tried the game at an earlier point already it's worth checking out again. It's great, especially since a lot of classes have also gotten or are about to get a physics update. The new content all have great physics, GT3 also has just been updated. This is of course just my personal taste, but with the new physics and ffb, the driving in this feels a lot better then in Assetto Corsa and PCars anyway.

Graphics are nice, tracks have much detail but the game seems to be relatively demanding. On my old 7950 I have to set shaders to medium to get a minimum of 60fps with more than 20 cars on screen.

Sadly, the game is lacking weather effects and night racing.

The AI however is the best I have ever encountered in a racing game. They give you a good fight, they make mistakes and they usually have a very good player awareness. It often feels like driving against real drivers in MP. Sometimes they are buggy though. A few corners can make them problems depending on with how many cars you're racing and recently they started to take not enough fuel for longer races and some of them go for refueling 1 or two laps before a race ends. But things like this are usually ironed out quickly by the devs.

The menus are a lot more cleaned up than AC, and a lot more efficiently designed than PCars.

Imo, if you don't want to pay a sh*tpile of money for iracing this is the best sim out there atm with a very nice community.

The game is amazing and fun. the down side is the aids of the gaming world microtransactions. if the price for aditional tracks were from $0.99 to $1.50 then i would recomend but the prices are to high for me.

For me the best racing sim on the PC with assetto not far behind, what gives this the edge is better AI & FAR superior engine sound compared to the sounds of assetto corsa, with the new physics introduced recently I simply could not say enough good things about this sim!

I haven't played it much yet but the grahpics is sick and the sound, but you need to have a good computer, my is ♥♥♥♥ and on high setting I only have 5 fps. But what can I say? It's free and amazing would highly recommend it to those who like racing!

My rating on this game is:
8/10

Why? The graphics is sick but you need a good computer to run it on high settings, Race on and have an amazing day bye!
