This new set of 40 single player levels provides a fresh challenge by throwing double teleporters into the mix as well as combining the teleporter with other mechanics from the main game such as level rotation, zombie Shuggy, floaty jump, rope swinging and multi-Shuggy. The level pack is included as part of the main game so it’s free for everyone who already owns it.

I have had this on my library for a long time and finally gave it a shot for a half hour. Maybe it gets better later, but I felt like I had had enough from the first half hour and did have the desire to play any more. Obviously this is not a full review, but just meant to share an experience of someone who played the game until they no longer wanted to play it and quit playing it.

The controls felt a bit off to me, making me feel like I'd rather play Mario or some other platformer instead. Getting nearly all the crystals in a level and dying is frustrating in a bad way (as opposed to something like Bloodborne). What made me quit was a level where the character stands sideways and gravity is flipped 90 degrees, but you have to press up and down to control him rather than left and right. Usually I like flipping levels like this, but just found it disorienting.

Not a bad game, but didn't find it to be a good one, either.

Can you call a game good when upon completion of the many levels you ferociously proclaim "Yeah, beach! In you ♥♥♥♥ing face!!!" There is a little balance actually. Some levels, required to see THE END screen, are so small and simplistic it makes you re-check the game info (was it addressed to elementary school?) while others are annoyingly difficult with nothing in between. And believe me that's the worst kind of difficulty there is. You wait, wait, wait... make a jump that is not 100% precise, fall and wait for the right sequence to happen again. Annoying and boring - the perfect mix. Rarely it challenges your mind. Most of the time you know what you need to do in order to succeed but game mechanics stands in your way. Too primitive to be called puzzle and with levels so small (one screen - early 80's Donkey Kong style) and actions limited by one ability at the time game lacks drive to bring satisfying action. No storyline whatsoever (you see something - go defeat it). Few decent audio tracks that get repetitive long before you're done with the game.

This is actually a pretty decent platformer. It has all kinds of different ideas to make the monotonous gem collection more interesting. Maybe not worth $5 unless this is your kind of game, but there are a lot of levels.

There's an ad whenever you close the game. ♥♥♥♥ off.

Adventures of Shuggy had potential. There's a nice soundtrack, colorful animation, and cute characters. Unfortunately, it seems the developers put too much effort into the visual look and not enough into the actual gameplay. What good there is here is unfortunately ruined by annoying enemies and too much flash over substance.

Shuggy's controls are way too floaty and it never feels like he's going to actually respond to your commands, even though he does. Despite having a fairly standard jump height, The vast majority of jumps will have you diving into a platform, getting two pixels of your foot caught against it and losing all forward momentum, then BARELY managing to float up with the rest of your vertical momentum.

Lots of minor optimization issues exist here. Every time the level starts, there's a burst of particle effects as all of the enemies and elements appear, but you maintain full control of Shuggy during this time, so it's entirely possible to run into an enemy or spike and die before the level has even fully appeared, which is especially noticeable in levels where death and restarting is not only common, but expected.

Enemies same tailor made to ♥♥♥♥ the player off. There is no way to kill them; they must be avoided, and the developers took careful action to make sure to put them in the most obnoxious place possible. Most of them move in predetermined patterns, so avoiding them is simply a matter of pattern recognition, but the mosquito enemies called Mozzies are the absolute worst. Their movement claims to be random, if the meaning of the word random has been changed to "in the worst possible spot and right up your ♥♥♥ every second they are on screen" and I wasn't informed. Also, they make a buzzing noise right in your speakers every time they get nearby. Lovely touch, developers. Isn't that what everyone loves? The sound of mosquitoes buzzing around your head when you're trying to play a game?

That's not to say Shuggy is completely without its merits. The real key to this game is the wide variety of powers and gameplay features that change up in every level. Each section of the game has a different theme and seems to focus on one or two mechanics for most of its stages, but the problem is that there is no rhyme or reason for where or when these powers exist. The stages aren't laid out in any particular order or categorized beyond their visual style, so in some levels you will have an infinite jump, then in the immediate next level you will have no control at all, only being able to rotate gravity. The only indicator of this is a rather obtrusive text box that appears on screen and seems to be more interested in wobbling awkwardly than responding to your spamming of the A button going "Yes, I know, go away!"

Unfortunately, while Shuggy has a wide variety of gameplay mechanics, it never feels like any of these are used to their full potential. In a better designed game, every mechanic and power would be given the spotlight and levels would be designed to showcase all aspects of these powers. Instead, each level seems to be randomly placed, with a random arbitrary action assigned to the Right Trigger, and the developers just decided to roll with it.

But the REAL nail in the coffin is this: Whenever you close the game, you get an ad. Yes, an ad for another indie game. I don't know if it's by the same developers, but I don't care. This is absolutely inexcusable! This is what pushed the game firmly into the "Do not buy!" category. I already bought the game, and you're going to use it as a platform to sell me more of your crap? Maybe if you focused on making a great platformer, your studio would have a more positive association and fans will actually want to seek out your other work. Shoving it down our throats is just plain offensive.

Without the more annoying aspects, Adventures of Shuggy would be slightly above average, but when you add in flashy effects that distract from the gameplay, annoying enemies, and obnoxious, poorly optimized menus, it falls into the mediocre-to-bad category. And the ad at the end just clinches it. Avoid Shuggy if you like good games, but REALLY avoid it if you hate pop-up ads.

Very entertaining and cute game that strikes exactly the right balance between difficulty and fun. Heaps of gameplay variety to keep you hooked. Co-op mode is a great addition to an excellent single player experience. Enjoying it a lot so far.

The game is pretty nice, between casual and puzzle-platformer gamer. The music are annoying after a time, you can still mute it in game. The levels are wide and unique, and the puzzle are unique too. That's why the game is great !

There is plenty of gadgets, environments to use in many levels such as : teleporter, block of stones, rope... The are also several powers : several shuggy to switch in a level, turning the level of 90 in wanted side, unlimited jumping, zombie walking, time traveling and much more !

But you need to know that the level have the size of the stamp, meaning that some ennemies (rats..) and some environment (spikes, spiky balls, some plateform) are very small so it can be stressful to find your way through them. Also, as I said it, the co-op is only playable in the same computer with a keyboard.

To talk about the issues I got (*) :

The first achievement didn't unlock for me, for an unknow reason. Well that was the only issue about the achivements.

I disabled the steam cloud, then started the game and reseted my save file to have the last achievement.

When I got it I closed the game, turned on the cloud and started the game. Was so suprised to see that the game didn't synced my savefile, so I ALT+TAB to turn off the cloud and close the game. I tried another time but the game crashed on startup and then synced the new file instead of the perfect savefile.

So if you wish to do that, I would recommend you to make a back-up instead of doing what I did.

The save file is in the steam userdata folder.

Nice little plataformer, nothing mind blowing but it will keep you entertained for a good few hours.

After inheriting a haunted house Shuggy must collect green gems to unlock all of it's secrets.

This puzzle platformer has a lot of varied mechanics that keeps the challenges fresh. Unfortunately the platforming is a little too tricky when combining a floaty jump and needing pixel perfect landings.

I'll admit to being initially skeptical but Adventures of Shuggy is actually a pretty decent puzzle/platformer. Yes, there are a lot of mechanics. But you only need to deal with one or two at a time in any given level so it's relatively easy to manage.

What I liked:
-Good bang for your buck. Doing everything will take 6-10 hours
-Variety
-Almost no downtime. Level resets basically instantly when you fail
-Decent challenges that never feel impossible. (minus a couple rooms that aim to misdirect)
-The rare AI helpers will never mess up a level for you. Well done there.
-Controls equally well with keyboard or controller
-"Stupid rope" Can use the rope ability to pole-vault and climb flat walls. Not how rope works but fun anyway.

What I didn't like:
-Controlling Shuggy takes some getting used to. He has unusual acceleration for this type of game and slides a bit. Caused many a death, let me tell you.
-Mosquito enemies are garbage with their random homing AI. Many levels that feature them would still be challenging without their annoyance.
-Smoo levels are slow and boring in general.
-There's a bug where if you exit the game while in fullscreen, it might not open up properly the next time you turn it on. Play in the default windowed mode to avoid this.
-Strange lag in levels. It's rare (maybe once in 20 levels) and not persistant but unusual for a game of this type. Never actually prevents completing a level but certainly annoying during an otherwise solid run.

Overall, pretty fun.

The game is pretty nice, between casual and puzzle-platformer gamer. The music are annoying after a time, you can still mute it in game. The levels are wide and unique, and the puzzle are unique too. That's why the game is great !

There is plenty of gadgets, environments to use in many levels such as : teleporter, block of stones, rope... The are also several powers : several shuggy to switch in a level, turning the level of 90 in wanted side, unlimited jumping, zombie walking, time traveling and much more !

But you need to know that the level have the size of the stamp, meaning that some ennemies (rats..) and some environment (spikes, spiky balls, some plateform) are very small so it can be stressful to find your way through them. Also, as I said it, the co-op is only playable in the same computer with a keyboard.

To talk about the issues I got (*) :

The first achievement didn't unlock for me, for an unknow reason. Well that was the only issue about the achivements.

I disabled the steam cloud, then started the game and reseted my save file to have the last achievement.

When I got it I closed the game, turned on the cloud and started the game. Was so suprised to see that the game didn't synced my savefile, so I ALT+TAB to turn off the cloud and close the game. I tried another time but the game crashed on startup and then synced the new file instead of the perfect savefile.

So if you wish to do that, I would recommend you to make a back-up instead of doing what I did.

The save file is in the steam userdata folder.

游戏目标很简单,收集完每关的宝石就可以过关。和大堆同类游戏相比这个游戏基本每关都有新花样,不同的关会给不同的特殊技能和物件等,有的关考验操作而有的关很考智力,另外还有几个boss关,所以玩到后面不会觉得单调。游戏难度总体来说中等,不会很休闲但也不会太虐心,有些关难度比较大需要花时间琢磨。总体来说还是挺有意思的,不过5刀实在太贵,打折或者入包可考虑。

挺不错的一款小游戏,挺好玩的说,关卡重复度也不高,比较新奇,很多也很有创意,好几关纠结了好久。。。虽然语言上不太影响,但还是希望能有中文吧~赞

挺不错的解密小游戏,关卡的设计也比较有意思,每一关都有新的解密方式。
难度不高,风格怪异中透着一股可爱,有coop,可以和女朋友一起玩!!!

5刀的横版通关游戏,画面很精良,BGM很有感觉,关卡玩法很多。可以买个和朋友一起欢乐的畅爽,游戏的难度可以用丧心病狂来形容,以我的操作能力,遇到难的关卡基本要玩十几遍才通关。但是过高的难度没有挡住游戏的魅力,就像黑暗之魂一样死了再多遍还是坚持下去玩!正所谓:游戏虐我千百倍,我任对它如初恋!

游戏不大但是蛮有意思的,虽然并没有给出剧情或者主线,就是一个横版过关小游戏,说难不难,但是要动一下脑子,每一张图花一两分钟就可以完成,闲来没事无聊时候可以玩一玩,动作很流畅,画风不难看,模式设定合理有趣且具有挑战性。最重要的是免费领取的,给好评!
