Just Updated

The new level pack for “Adventures of Shuggy”, “Shuggy’s Teleporting Troubles” is now available on Steam. This new set of 40 single player levels provides a fresh challenge by throwing double teleporters into the mix as well as combining the teleporter with other mechanics from the main game such as level rotation, zombie Shuggy, floaty jump, rope swinging and multi-Shuggy. The level pack is included as part of the main game so it’s free for everyone who already owns it.

About the Game

Shuggy has just inherited a castle full of goblins, ghouls, zombies, and robots. Help him clear out over 100 rooms to make his new home liveable again! Every room in the castle is different, letting Shuggy fly, float, swing, spin, change size, time travel and more as he explores the Dungeon, Boiler Room, Clocktower, Gallery, and Graveyard.

Key Features

  • Co-op play - Play 36 twisted two-player levels in the offline co-op mode, with puzzles that can only be completed through cunning and teamwork.
  • Non-linear map screen - Multiple routes through the castle ensure you'll be able to find another route if you get stuck.
  • Boss encounters - Use your wit and cunning to defeat the dastardly bosses in each area of the castle.
  • Time travel - Get caught in a time loop and co-operate with your past echoes.
  • Rotation - Spin whole levels or interlocking puzzle sections to grab all the gems.
  • Seeing double - Utilize multiple Shuggys under the influence of different gravities.
  • Teleportation - Use Shuggy's teleporter to solve some tricky conundrums.
  • Tied up in knots - Grab the magic rope and swing your way to victory.

Aside from those minor complaints, The Adventures of Shuggy is a superb 2D platformer deserving of a much wider audience. Smudged Cat Games have created a game with heart, intelligence and a mansion-load of well-applied ideas. You'll get their money's worth and more with this game. A puzzle/platformer that's not only challenging and addicting, but also adorable, Adventures of Shuggy is a title that gamers of any age and ability are sure to enjoy. If you're a fan of games like Super Meat Boy and you're looking for some interesting twists to the platforming genre, The Adventures of Shuggy is worth checking out. Smudged Cat's first entry in the big leagues is a promising start, and has me excited for the studio's next project.A short campaign is the only downside of this otherwise amazing platformer.

A puzzle/platformer with a surprising amount of depth to it. There's plenty of challenge here, in the mould of some of the older NES games - albeit not quite as tough - with the most fragile vampire outside of Twilight. Shuggy has a variety of tricks at his disposal to help negotiate through the levels, and these assists change depending on the level. Teleportation, rotating the level itself, ropes, multiple Shuggys and even time travel are options open to you throughout the game.

The genius of the game is that it challenges casual players, but is also designed around making life difficult for speedrunners. Many of the hazards seem to clog the optimal quickest route through a level, so if you want to replay levels and go for your best times, you'll appreciate the quality of the level design on display here. Throw in a very fun local co-op mode and a bunch of additional teleportation levels, and you have a game that can certainly keep you occupied.

Smudged Cat have made a bit of a gem. Well worth your time if you enjoy reasonably difficult platformers.

I like a lot of things about this - some of the puzzles are really quite clever etc.

The whole thing is let down by horrible controls tho. You start moving really slowly, bui;ding-up speed the longer you keep moving. This means movement ranges from 'sticky' to 'wild' - just stepping-off a ledge is an exercise in frustration - timing jumps etc. is just frustrating.

Note: coming from the XBOX and having access to an analog joystick and not using it is a bloody weird choice!?

Anyway - spoils the entire game for me, controls should not be part of a game's difficulty...

This game is very clever and fun, Sometimes you can play and really enjoy yourself. Or sometimes you get one of those tough levels where you start thinking about how you would like to murder someone.

Overall It's highly enjoyable and addictive!

Love it! very simple game with different types of levels that can pickly your brain a bit. Fair level in fustration sometimes when things don't go the way you want, which i personally love even more about it (who wants a game thats too easy and you just walkthrough). Will play again as a casual game to play from time to time again when i want to solve those little rooms again.
Would recommend it to anyone who likes a not to hard enjoable challenge.
