"It really feels like it could be the start of something big; through conversations with people and lessons during class, you get peeks at something that could expand into a remarkably big and well developed fantasy universe, and it seems we've only just dipped our toe into it." - Jay Is Games

"Weird barely begins to cover it. Magical Diary is an indie, Japanese style adventure (though not actually from Japan) that’s a little bit visual novel, a little bit RPG, and a whole heck of a lot of Harry Potter. Luckily, it’s also really good fun." - Rock Paper Shotgun

+ I loved the humor
+ equal opportunity routes
+ memorable characters
+ great use of magic theme
+ interesting lore/world building/magic system
+ simplified character customization impressed me
+ lot's of replayability, the cheat system was a big help to see hidden scenes
+/- I got used to the art style fairly quickly, didn't bother me after an hour or so of playing
- single CG is recycled
- too many useless spells, not enough opportunities to use them
- you only play through your first year, it left me wanting to play through your senior year

This is such a strange little game and so far out of my genre. I just picked it up out of curiousity one day. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the game is cheesy and obviously is taking ques from Harry Potter but in the best way possible.

Great, fun characters
Lots of dating options
So many endings
Has a nice replayability factor
Lovely animation
The Professor <3

Cons -

I would have liked the game to be a bit longer, even though it's a pretty decent length, but I guess that is a good sign that I wanted more.
Can I put that I want a sequel as a con? :P

I would highly recommend if you get this game to play out the many endings. They main one is great but some of the more uncommon ones are some of the most interesting combinations in the game I think. Check them out.

P.S This game goes very cheap on sale.

When i first played this game, i didnt like it too much. I guess i expected something different and i wasnt happy with what i got. But that was then, and some time later i tried this game again and i loved it.
Damien and Donald had really satisfying, good routes, that made me very emotional. Seriously, i recommend this game just for them. The other routes are also well done and i enjoyed all of them, although they didnt left such an impression as Donalds and Damiens routes did.
The art is not very good at the first glance, but its actually not bad but just... different? After you get used to it, you start to appreciate it, i think. Although the size of the eyes still bugged me sometimes, but thats something you can easily forget about while playing the game - its written in a way that makes it rather easy to focus your attention on the plot.
Its kind of sad there were almost no cgs, but i guess thats the price for being able to customize your character in a couple of ways.
Oh, and if youre not too much into this whole stat raising thing, there are cheats that you can use to swiftly progress through it by maxing all your stats instantly. Makes life much easier when youre replaying the game many times to get all the endings.
I definitely recommend this game, especially if you like cute GxG romances, as this game has two such routes.

I don't know and can't remember the reason behind me having this game, all I know is that if there's an unfinished game in my library that I've yet to finish and touch, it will be touched and finished.

Hm, I've played at least 10 hrs(not 4.2 on record as stated), the other part being offline because somehow launching it via Steam screws it up. I used a walkthrough to power through this game as quickly as possible so I can get on with my other stuff on backlog. This is my yearbook page in case someone's interested for whatever reasons.

So...I felt like I was playing some sort of dating sim; you're this freshman girl who goes to this *magical* school to become a witch as you were borned to be. You go to these different coloured classes to learn about magic and spells. Like school, there will be tests to examine how well you know your stuff. There are seven exams in total. Oh and you can also just not go to classes and sleep or gym all week just like in real life. You get $5 allowance each week, and on every Saturday, well most, you can choose to either go shopping like a real girl would or study.

Aside from that, you apparently get to romance with a select few people(or things as some aren't actually human.....).....and that either goes well or it doesn't. I went with that demon dude, who actually looks more like a girl than a guy, but whatever - thought it would be cool to get it *on* with a demon! hahahahaha

But yeah....

If you like reading a lot and dating sims, this is for you! If not, then don't bother. I'm actually neutral on this, but steam wants either a yes or a no, so I'm gonna so yes as the gameplay was fun I suppose...

Always amazing! You never get bored. And there is a nice choice of dateable characters. Hetero or Les.
