Time Bought: Can not recall
Money Spent: Bought it in a 'bundle'
Worth The Price?: YES, and then some
Position In Game At Time Of Review: Finished story on Normal, doing hardest difficulty now, retrieved all weapon power ups and almost all achievments

I was quite surprised at how much fun I had playing this game!!! It kind of reminds me of Killing Floor a little but with a different gaming style. It didn't take to long for me to be obsessed with finishing the story mode and maxing out all my weps. Don't believe most of these 'below 1 hr playing' reviews that clearly are written by mo rons who didn't even give the game a chance. Like most games, you have to get used to the mechanics of the game to fully enjoy it, but that doesn't take too long. There are NOT that many glitches, and the few that I came across were more fun than disruptive. Playing co op was fun as well, but a voice chat and experience would definitely come in handy. Most of these reviews forgot to mention that there is a Survival Mode where you fend off waves until a certain time runs out for cash rewards to be used at the weapons store :) I'm going to move on to another game in my inventory, but if anyone wants/needs a co op partner then I'll be more than happy to join you!!!

Kind of repeatitive, Game is challenging, even on easy lol. But it's a fun game to play with a friend. The controls are very easy to get used to but I do wish the camera movement was mouse based instead of keyboard. Lighting is very dark but that adds to the ambiance of the game. Graphics are so-so and the music isn't that bad. There are a few problems that I have encountered like: Forklifts getting stuck in the ground and your character getting stuck in random weird places, you have to die to free yourself.

I love this style of game. Excellent coop. I wish there were more like this. It's a little short, but it's cheap. Cool lighting effects and tons of blood.

OK, so first off, who doesn't like to shoot mutant-bugs in a Duke Nukem-esque way? This game absolutely satisfies my cravings to gut some mutant-zombie-bugs...? (I don't know what they're called!)

So you start off in the first level, after you have gone to the shop, and chosen your difficulty and you're dropped into nowhere! Not knowing what to do, but the thing about this game is that you go where you think is right, so if you think it's right to go through that door, or activate that button, chances are, it's the right descision to make.

The game throws you at various types of mutant bugs, shall we say? Of different difficulty to kill, there are some small minor mutants which take a couple of shots to kill, then there are the ones which take an entire clip to kill, and of course there are the bosses.

Now the bosses are hard(ish) to kill because of the fact that you have all the harder mutants to kill along-side the boss, which means that you have to think carefully about how you place yourself on the battle stage with the boss and the other mutants.

There are some moments of the game where the atmosphere of the game is generally decrepit, derelyct, and desolate. But just as soon as you are about to give up... BOOM! Out comes a massive horde of mutants for you to deal with.

Overall this game is really fun, for what it is, and having cleared the first area out in single player, I have no reason to believe it would be worse with your friends. This game is definitely worth checking out.

Primal Fears

Primal Fears is a top down shooter that has you fighting mutants of various types and sizes. Your travels will take you through 7 different levels and can be played on 4 different difficulties. It can also be played with up to 4 friends which makes it even better. After you go through the campaign mode you can't keep racking up your score by playing the arena matches they have.

Now I know this game got horrible reviews and the metacritic rating sits at 39 but you know after playing it for a good 10hrs, I've come to believe the critics don't know crap. Yes the game has some flaws but I didn't find anything that made this game unplayable. It's action packed, has many weapons to buy and upgrade, 4 levels of difficulty, and is just fun as hell to play with friends.

There are about 9 different enemies types in the game. They range between regular enemies, mini bosses, and big bosses. Further in the game you will get a mixture of them all at any time. Design and graphics are subpar and don't really seemed polished but this doesn't break you away from the gameplay. I used a controller playing it as it was a little easier for me but you can use mouse and keyboard. Every once and a while when I hit reload it would make the sound but wouldn't actually do it. This really didn't bother me to much when playing.

There isn't a story to follow so if that's what you're looking for you won't find it here. It has a few glitches I've seen like characters weapons floating behind or next to them, It froze up on me once and I had to restart my PC because it wouldn't close. It also dropped to like 1 fps on me at the end of one level which I just restarted at the checkpoint and it never did it again. These minor issues never made me want to stop playing and never ruined the fun for me.

If you own this game or have been thinking about getting it don't believe the metacritic avg. score and play it. It has it's flaws but overall a great game for you and some friends to burn some time on.

Another sadly overlooked action game by eternal underdog DnS.
Much like other top-downs, the average knuckle-dragging ape will spend roughly five minutes playing this title before ragequitting. (The genre is not known to have a gentle learning curve and requires considerable patience)

Primal Fears can be especially frustrating to new-comers as it utilises a weapon upgrade system that does not initially seem intuituive. Your weapons also begin the game stupidly underpowered. (Think Killing Floor)

Howevers, as one progresses through the difficulties, the weapons DO get better.
It is at this time one can then observe the real game; and it is pretty f::uck::ing sick.

At it's best, primal Fears recalls classic Alien Swarm campaigns such as Tears for Tarnor, The Beginning, and Paranoia.
Never did I feel the game suffered from locked door syndrome nor did the objectives ever feel forced, pointless, or otherwise stupid.

...and the misunderstood manual camera rotation allows the player to faithfully recreate the experience of asw_elevator on any level, which is of course a great thing.

Primal Fears is a top down survival shooter you can either play alone or in co-op.

Storywise it's like your everyday zombie shooter except this time with insects. The story is told by nothing but reading newspapers you can find and isn't deep at all. When you start the game you are thrown into your base camp and the tutorial consists of "Go to a red circle and press F."

The graphics are pretty nice on max settings, unfortunately I had a lot of stutters even though my computer was running at not more than 50% workload.

The sound could be good if it was implemented properly. The sound effects are okay and the music creates suspension but most of the time you will be playing without any music at all. It will only start when a larger group of enemies is about to appear and might stop while you are still in fight or continue long after the last enemy is dead.

The core of every game is it's gameplay and Primal Fears offers several neat features which could set it apart. When running backwards to evade enemies you are slower which strongly shapes your combat. You have a collection of several weapons, some as unique as the disk saw thrower, and every weapon has multiple options to upgrade it. Another feature is a physics system which lets you kick around parts of the environment. All this is outnumbered by the downsides. There are just a few different enemies and bosses appear just as unspectacular as common creeps. Your biggest enemy is getting stuck, either in a crowd of creeps or in the previously mentioned kickable stuff. Maybe even at the edge of a sidewalk. There are many more flaws like enemies running through walls, not being able to turn your flashlight back on or being attacked while reading a newspaper (because the game does not stop meanwhile) but the list would just be too long.

All in all this game wastes a lot potencial and isn't worth buying unless you love the genre and get the game for a buck or less.

Dead Horde is without a doubt one of the most appalling games I have ever played. Primal Fears is apparently from the same people, but lo and behold, this one is actually playable! I'm not yet sure just how much LONG-TERM playability it's going to have for me - I suspect it'll get repetitious in no time - but thus far it's simple, dumb fun, and even a teeny tiny bit atmospheric to boot. Far from the best game I've ever played, but far from the worst. Heck, so far I'm enjoying it way more than Killing Floor, which is just mindless shooting followed by mindless purchasing followed by more mindless shooting. Sure this one is much the same deal, but at least it has enough pretense to attempt the semblance of a plot, however slight it may be. And that's all I ask in a game: The slightest semblance of a plot. And a bucket-load or two of hefty violence.

1.4 hours up on the clock already, I reckon I'll manage at least 5 or 10 before this game runs its course for me. Definitely worth the $2.49, though they're surely taking the piss with the normal price tag of $9.99. Get it on sale! Kill giant insectoid things rather than the usual boring zombies!! Keep your expectations low, and you may actually have a passably good time!!!

Verdict: 6/10.

Primal Fears is a huge improvement upon its predecessor Dead Horde. I enjoyed the first game but not without a ton of frustration as it was not optimized to say the least the lag was horrible even on lowest settings. However Primal Fears was a joy to play. Don't listen to the haters this is a fun little game. Not perfect but fun.

What can be said about primal fears? well it is an updated version of dead hoard, there just isn't really much change with this game there are only one or two variations of specimens that have a different size and skin texture but are still the same well let's go through the list.

Pro's

-More Weapons!
-Hub World(Camp)
-An Arena
-Moveable Props

Con's
-Moveable Props...(they can get in your way)
-Not enough enemy variation
-Enemies absorb way to many shots.
-Limited sprint 3 seconds(can't roll)useless since most enemies can catch up to you anyway.
-Always night.
-Cannot shop in peace(shop menu doesn't pause the game also cannot buy medkits)
-Re-used enemy jumper(which was in dead horde)
-Level design is dull and cliche'd.
-One level can take from 15 to 30 minutes to finish depending on difficulty.
-Melee weapon is useless in any situation and serves as a joke when you could be spriting away for 3 seconds.

Overall i would say this is an avarage shooter, no real innovating ideas or any new concepts, just reused boring ideas, if you are interested in shooters and just want some mind numbing fun, buy it, if you are looking for something new and interesting, don't buy it.

if you want something similer try nation red or zombie shooter which will prove more fun.

This game is not bad, it really is not so great by yourself, the real fun is in the coop. Unfortantly not many people play the game so it might be better for LAN parties or actually just making a friend buy the game and play with you. The combat can get intense and the atmosphere is pretty cool but this is yet another game not for everyone. 2D FPS with horrific creatures is great and all but there defiantly needs to be a lot more weapons put into the game I think.

It's not that bad, but it's not that great. A top down arcade style gameplay with minor upgrades to weapons and only a few types of enemies.

The good -the areas look nice, shadows are cool, and its coop. The bad - AI dumb, guns feel weak, and enemies spawn every time you grab anything, go through door, and walk 30 feet. The worst of all is the hit detection and the few enemies in the game are not all the same... basically two fat guys (one is super fast, one is slow) for no real reason.

Anyways - I did about half the missions in 2 hours, so I assume 4-5 hours of content. Not bad since I got it with a $5 bundle, but I couldn't say I'd recommend buying it unless you love this kinda gameplay.

An amazing game I bought the 4-pack for 3 others and myself The graphics are as good as a game like this can get and the weapon uprgrades and choices are phenominal! The money ingame you get while playing is a little too small until I realized you keep the weapons and upgrades forever as long as you complete the mission you're in when you buy them you are able to keep them forever! I think this game would be a 9.3/10 because 10/10 for graphics 9/10 for gameplay 9/10 for mutiplayer play because it's only co-op!
