Bu İçerik Hakkında

The second expansion for the critically praised strategy-RPG Crusader Kings II focuses on the Byzantine Empire. In the rich political world of Byzantium, the vassals have been scheming. They have split into factions and they are banding together to revolt against your rule.

Legacy of Rome contains a wealth of new features to outsmart them and maintain your empire. The finals breaths of the Roman Empire are in your hands!

Crusader Kings II explores one of the defining periods of world history in an experience crafted by Paradox Development Studio, the masters of Grand Strategy. Medieval Europe is brought to life in this epic game of knights, schemes, and thrones.

Key Features:

  • Explore the Intricate Faction System: Join a faction to put pressure on your liege and to keep track of factions in your own realm
  • Raise Standing Armies: You will now be able to use retinues to have standing armies in your domain. The size is determined by technology
  • Experience Factional Revolts: No more easily defeated rebellions. Disgruntled vassals will now band together in revolt against your rule
  • Appoint Orthodox Patriarchs: Orthodox kingdoms and empires can now control their own heads of religion instead of being dependent on the patriarch of Constantinople
  • Streamlined Mobilization: You will always raise a single, larger levy from your direct vassal; no need to worry about the opinions of the lower vassals
  • Leader Focus: Appoint your generals wisely, their traits & skills are now of vital importance on the field of battle. More commander traits are now added to increase the importance of your choice of military leaders
  • Explore Byzantine Events & Decisions: Legacy of Rome includes many specific events & decisions to make the Byzantine Empire come alive
  • Improve Your Ruler: You can now actively strive to improve your skills or traits through the new Self Improvement Ambitions

A must-have addition to the game if you want to have a really cool roleplaying experience.
Go on, restore the Roman Empire in all its glory and might and found a new dynasty of Emperors that the world will never forget!

Sounds too easy considering how strong the Byzantine Empire is at the start of the game?

No problem! Go start as a small Italian count, give your dynasty the name of a Roman family and give all your children Latin names, only. Then start becoming independent, build the Kingdom of Latium, then swear fealty to the Byzantine Empire only to disintegrate it from the inside. Crown yourself the new Emperor and then push through with your claims on the world as well as anything and anyone wandering it... *salivating intensely*

What? No, I don't have a mad look in my eyes. No, I do not require psychatric evaluation...
Go fetch me some claims I can push...

A few words about the retinue feature, which is in my opinon the biggest selling point of this dlc.

Retinues are somewhat expensive to raise and to maintain, but the advantages (strategy and fun) outweigh the costs by far.

- You can declare war even with an army (Retinues) raised.
- The retinues are calculated into your total army size, preventing factions to reach critical mass.
- They can be stationed at any hotspot you want to have control over (e.g. religous unrests) before anything bad happens.
- They are equipped with the most advance tech you got.
- When fighting breaks out, their morale was already charged before.

You can also see the strategic layer it adds to the game. Economy and military wise. Just think about how you can prepare for an invasion. Deploying your troops at the border, declaring war, invading the county. You start sieging with your retinues on day 1, and secure a foothold/beachhead before the enemy can react and soon your other troops arrive, probably win a batte (even a war). Its your elite. Its your shock troop. Costly, but always prepared, ready and truly badass.

They are made out of what you select them to be. Need super fast and strong troops to kill or scare off raiders? Make them cavalry. Need a hard hitting troop to turn the tide of battle? Make them heavy infantry. You need the numbers to maintain order in your realm? Make them cheap light units. And in battle you put them on the flank which suits them best. E.g. a general who boosts cavalry and cut through the opposing flank.

You can raise them in peace time at full speed or, when the economy wears you down, you can raise them slowly at reduced costs or even halt the reinforcement completely.

I love retinues. And i wouldnt even care if they were taken out from the LOR dlc i paid for and implemented in the main game so the mechanic could be enjoyed by everybody and it could be further expanded on. Its an awesome feature.

In my humble opinion its the best feature any dlc added to the game. This is not a fluff thing. For my game its absolutely mandatory.

It is good. Play as Byzantium. Castrate people. Blind 'em to. Reform Rome. Unite Christianity. Have a standing army. They should have included this in the real game instead of just spamming out frucking DLC. Buy it if you like Crusader Kings II

bu paraya değmez. paradox güncelleme olarak getirmesi gereken şeyleri ekstra parayla satmaya çalışıyor hep. multiyi kullanmıyoruz bile. size önerim torrent-oyun adlı siteyi ziyaret etmeniz. ayrıca bkz. hamachi

the downloadable contents should be updates. do we have to pay for seing slav faces of the the slavs or turkish faces of the turks? they are only trying to get most of the cash they can over people. i strongly advise people to visit zamunda instead of paying for games(whic have paradox as the owner, so they deserve it) which you wont even use the multiplayer. even if you will use mulltiplayer it still doesnt worth it. by the way i have friend called hamachi. check him out. great lad he is.

Unlike Sword of Islam, Legacy of Rome adds a bit more than just some enhancements to a cultural group (in this case, the Byzantines and Orthodox countries). As it had better, since those countries were playable in the vanilla game, though most of the "new features" listed below were patched into the vanilla game as well. So is it worth it? Ehh... that depends on how much you care about playing characters from these areas. Though this DLC does add some... interesting new options for cruel characters who have some people in their jail. Dig through my screenshots and you will find one that shows this off. "He had it coming." ;)

As Byzantian Basileus i was proud for my achievements. The Empire is wealth, people are happy, even my neightbors like me.Everything was perfect until...
My brother made a party to throw me out. After failed persuasion he declared war.Land was divided, everything what i built in flames and people killing eachother for his ambitions but then fortune smiled on me and i captured him.
As punishment for his crimes i blinded him.Four months later he died and his only son declared another war against me.
I hated that little b@stard from the beginning and this revolt was even bloodier.Guess who laughed last when i chopped his balls off?

10/10 would castrate ungrateful nephew again

There are two reasons to buy this expansion:

One is what it says on the tin: You can play as Byzantium and other Orthodox Christians like Russia, and restore Rome in a special event.

The other, however, is critical to any playthrough of CK2, and that is that you have access to retinues. Retinues seriously change the game's balance of power in favor of large empires, and if you have any designs upon a conquest of Europe, you're going to need their power.

Retinues are theoretically "standing armies", but in play, they are like mercenaries that cost no upkeep except when replacing losses. Although they are less numerous than levies, with proper stack construction, they are capable of beating levies triple their number and fully exploiting the dodgy rock-paper-scissors mechanics of the game.

Basically, once you get to empire-tier realm size, you functionally never have to raise your levies again except to take on another superpower.

Since you do not need to dismiss them before declaring war, you can declare a conquest or holy war on a small duke-tier realm while actually already having your army assembled and halfway marching across the border, already. This allows you a first strike capability that gives your side significant advantages. If you build an archer-heavy retinue, you can also sack castles instead of sieging them, allowing you to win small wars in weeks, rather than years. Win wars without even bothering raising your levies! Let your opponents call up their reinforcements - you'll have already won the war while they get their armies to slowly pool together before they start even trying to march towards you! In fact, with retinues in an empire, I often spend much of my time looking for any random target I can even attack while waiting out treaty timers, rather than worrying about how I will maintain my powerbase.

This is even more exploitable with pagans or other raiders - sacking with a retinue of raiders nets you lots of cash fast (although you pay back a lot of it retraining new troops lost sacking) while a smaller force can come in and conquer the sacked and pillaged lands in a war right after the raiders sweep through.

In total, there's a reason retinues were MASSIVELY nerfed in this game, as retinues completely reverse the trend of making it difficult to keep large empires together, and make large empires extremely simple to expand. Even if you face civil war, having potent retinues are game-changingly powerful. Using retinues makes empires MUCH easier, and in fact, basically TOO easy. That said, once you get hooked on them, you can't ever go back to mere levies again.

A must-have if you like playing the Byzantines. Has a bunch of great Byzantine decisions and events, plus you get to castrate and blind your enemies. This being CK2, it doesn't limit your savagery - you can blind infants, and lop off baby boys' little weenies if that strikes your fancy (though the game does call you out for being a "real piece of work"). Even if you don't play the Byzantines, it's worth it for just the retinues - they do dilute the feudal aspect of the game somewhat, but it's a great way to make your battles more interesting than "throw the biggest amount of troops at enemy".

One of the essential CK2 DLCs, in my opinion.
