"This is not only a great example of a professional and credible free-to-play game, but it's also one of the best first-person shooters I've played. I am quite serious when I say that, too. This game is a serious FPS contender, and its freemium status should not diminish your expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend you jump in and give it a try. It'll cost only your time to give it a whirl, and I am certain that it'll be time well spent."

"Great shooting mechanics and deep customization options make for an addictive combination, and its free-to-play model makes it easy to jump into with no upfront cost."

"The matter is simple – the game is free to play and, if you take my word for it, an excellent shooter. In a perfect world, it would knock the CoD series on its ass."

About This Game

Take firefights to a futuristic new level in Blacklight: Retribution, a free-to-play FPS. See through walls with the HRV, deploy mechanized Hardsuits, and customize your weapons to dominate the opposition.

In Blacklight, mastering the futuristic tech is half of victory. You'll need to carefully balance your loadout, from the extreme customization possible in designing your firearms, to the equipment you carry and the in-match bonuses you can unlock. The Hyper Reality Visor (HRV) allows you to look through walls and spot enemies, and attack from where they aren't expecting - but be careful, because you're vulnerable while using it.

The other half of victory? Raw skill, same as it's always been. Good hunting, Agent...

PUNKBUSTER INCLUDED

They took a good game, and made it awful. Navagating the new menus is terrible. They removed electric ammo and magnum ammo, but whoever bought it before still has it. Plus you cant buy protections, so now electric is OP. Please revert menus to the original Parity Patch. Better yet, back to the "drought". Infact this "Drought" I "Survived" was better than the recent updates. Time to uninstall for the final time, I was honestly hoping you were going to get your s hit together, but you failed.

A game I once loved, playing it since Beta and following it up til the Parity Patch. Most of my hours are pre-steam integration, and I had a blast with it for a very long time.

But that all changed when the Parity Patch came. What was once a very slick PC UI suddenly became dumbed down, consolized, easier to use with a controller than to navigate with mouse and keyboard. Unintuitive, unpleasant, and laggy. A far cry from the wonderfully stylized work of the past.

And don't get me started on the balance changes. No stamina anymore? Okay fine, I guess thats ok... Drastic reduction of all recoil? Not so sure there... Drastic reduction of damage falloff and spread? So my SMG is now a laser sniper rifle? So... why use anything but an M4X?

More than anything else, when I play Blacklight I'm dissapointed. I'm dissapointed that they took the game I used to love and killed it.

Love the fast pace of this game, the CRV prevents camping and adds a piece that separates this game from all the other FPS's out there. I love the weapon customization to match your style of play, and its still balanced fairly well. The art style and setting is what I really enjoy though, can't find any other games with this exact style of armor/future stuff. Very shiny! Also my go-to when I want to play an FPS; titanfall made me just want to play BL:R, same with Overwatch.

Cons: eh for f2p this game pretty much rocks. New PS4 interface made the game kinda wonky for me, but I still enjoy it.

I'm lovin BlackLight right now. i'd rate it 8.5/10

CONS:
Well, it's easier to win with payed stuff (but doesnt go as far as pay2win)
If you want to buy a weap permanately you have to pay like 25,000 game credits or pay for 'zen coins'

PROS:
Can run on my potato PC with lower graphics
Easy to understand settings (from my understanding)
Hardsuits are easy to kill (Just run at it with a flame thrower, 2 ez)
With skill you can rekt people with a bunch of payed stuff.
Free better version of COD in my opinion.
And super fun overall

I wanted a game to take my mind off of CSGO since its frustrating how i could never get out of Silver and this was it!

Ya done ****ed it up! Since the update the population hasn't gone over 500 players, need I say more? I have a combined 3000+ hours over a few accounts andf for a while there you really did start to actually 'fix' the game...then the update came. Luckily there a some great FPS competitive games coming out this year! I won't be further supporting this game anymore pshh what a waste of of money I gave you all to support this game.

Please dont bother with this game since the devs are being lazier than a sloth and puking out words promising an update that will never come.

An exceptional F2P shooter, however they turned what was a reasonable grind for gear into a grind that would overgrind a greatsword's blade off. Prices increased from 8.5k per receiver to 25200, 1.4k for an attachment to 3.9k, and 4k for a gear item to 11-16k.

But don't worry, they finally made prestige rewards a year later. They're literally just reskins of the default though. Good tradeoff for spending thousands of hours in the game though right?

stupid useless developers. i use to love this game and even payed for in game money and had a decent lvl character. But the stupid idiots decide "♥♥♥♥ Australians, they dont need a server".
now have to start from scratch and even that is impossibel due to the 200+ latency.

Is this game good as a Free to play FPS? Somewhat, but the real issue lies within the fact that the devs just keep screwing it up.

Its free, but even so, don't support them by downloading it. They have broken their game many times in the past and have done so again. The FPS has been unreliable for many people, the servers suck so much that people across the board are having spazy rubber-banding issues all at once. The people that still play the game are veterans so the skill balance in the game is very biased, making it difficult for new players to get a chance in matches. The game has very little challengign weapon mechanics in it (no recoil, no aim bobbing, etc.).
At one point, the game was pretty balanced when it came to pricing; you could buy everything you needed without spending a penny, but now after this recent update everything is ludicrously expensive, and even with my double GP(currency) on, it takes forever to get anything.

There is absolutely no TEAM BALANCING, which is one of the most aggravating things about this game.
When you join a game, it is usually VERY biased, so you are either on the extremely OP side, where you have all ranked players against a bunch of new unranked players. This makes it not very fun for the losers and for the people on the winning side because they can’t even compete. What is the fix for this? Change out your dumb randomizing algorithm for one that uses the player's K/D to calculate which players should be balanced between the teams you imbeciles, it’s not rocket science.

But I love and hate this game, it has great customization ideas, a simple set up that (at one point) worked, but it’s a waste of time because there aren’t enough players, support, or balancing to the game for it be worth it. Just spend a bit of money on people that are worth your time, not waste it on these insignificant ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Just don’t. It’s free, but don’t.

Yeah I randomly redownload the game 2-3 day ago. I loved that I still had all my Beta items and a GP duplicator already. The grind for gear was way better then it was at launch....

NOW with this new update the grind is worse then when the game first came out. WTF were they thinking... I was just about to purchase zen for cosmetics but refuse to now since this update. I will keep it installed for another week and see if it gets re-adjusted. If not then I will uninstal this game for good.

Game is fun but way to grindy for new players. Gameplay will get stale if you can only buy 1 item every 50+ games with gp duplicator.
