Recensioni

“Analogue is a sit-up-and-take-notice achievement in storytelling, in interface, in research, in mechanics and in moral ambiguity.”
Alec Meer, Rock Paper Shotgun
“It was like watching a horror movie, knowing what was about to happen and curious only how awful the director’s willing to get. Love is not gratuitous but doesn’t disappoint – the fate of the Mugunghwa, and the event that precipitated it, is as valid as it is appalling.”
Matt Sakey, Tap-Repeatedly

This is a game I highly recommend. It's a little different from your usual visual novel formula. There's no dating, no romance, well... per se.

You are a space explorer who was hired to investigate the wreckage of a long lost ship whose disappearance has been a mystery for the ages. The ship is silent, it's crew long dead, the only remnants of life are the two AI programs Hyun-ae and Mute. Together you dig through the archives and records trying to piece together what went wrong.

This game is it's own prequel in a way, you already know how it ends you just need to take the journey to find out how it got there. If you're a fan of visual novels I definitely recommend you give this melancholy story a read, it'll be well worth your time.

Really interesting VN. The characters were nicely written, same with the story. You need to pay attention to all the details in order to get on the route you’re aiming for! The art style was ok and BGM was nice too.

But well, in my opinion, it gets a bit boring to replay this game since you gotta read a lot of logs over and over again just to trigger certain scenes. Even on skip mode, it takes time. But it’s fine, I think the originality of this story shines through that little problem. It’s really worth giving this VN a try, especially if you like sci-fi.

7/10, I recommend getting this game on sale.

A short visual novel about you being sent on a job to recover information about what happened to an old ship that was simply found drifting in space, its crew dead. As you play through the story you discover a story about a woman called the "Pale Bride" who was forced into a patriarchal society and the downfall of the crew as a whole as a result of it regressing into patriarchy. The story is told mainly through text logs of letters, diary entries and such with some input from the AI personalities that exist within the computer, *Hyun-ae and *Mute, both representing opposing views on the matter of how the ship's society operated. *Hyun-ae is the woman who hates the ignorance and cruelty of the men and women who blindly accept the traditions and world views forced on them, while *Mute is the maiden who sees no problem with the world and happily agrees with and is very protective of the old gender roles.

The themes are quite mature and depressing, much more so than what you might expect looking at the screenshots. The people described in the logs are mostly awful people, if not by choice then by simply not understanding the opposing point of view, and reading through their entries was really painful at times. I could practically feel my stomach churn as I read the final log.

As for the VN itself, the way it tells its story is quite interesting, as it's mostly you simply investigating the past, with very little new story details introduced. The reactor malfunction part is somewhat infuriating if you just came for the story, but that's about the only complaint I have. Outside of that, the story and presentation is fine and unique enough to set it apart from most other VNs out there. There aren't as much artwork as most other VNs as it all takes place inside a holographic interface or something like that, but I'm fine with that. After all, the story is the important part and not the graphics, but what little there is of it is pretty good. There are multiple paths to take and I would strongly suggest you explore them as well just to get a bigger picture and see how the viewpoints of the two AI personalities conflict.

I'd recommend this VN to people who are a fan of the medium and maybe even those new to it. Just know that the story is a bit darker than the initial impressions would have you believe.
