Captain: "SHOOT THE PYRAMIDION"
Me: "WHICH ONE IS THAT"
Captain: "THE ONE IN FRONT OF US"
*I start shooting the only ship I can see*
Captain: "NO YOU IDIOT, THE OTHER ONE"
Me: "WHAT OTHER ONE?"
*suddenly explosions*
Captain: "NEVERMIND, FIX THE HULL FIRST"
Me: "HOW DO I DO THAT"
Captain: "HIT IT WITH SOMETHING"
Me: "HOW DOES THAT WORK"
Captain: "FUUUUUUUUUUU-"
*ship explodes and we all die*

10/10, would annoy a captain to literal death again.

Lobby Simulator Online.

The only way to win, is not to Ready.

------------------------------------------

(Slightly more) serious review:

The game is awesome, the concept is pretty unique. Yes, graphics are nothing to write home about, but the gameplay makes up for that and more.

Do you want to bludgeon ships out of the sky with brute explosive power? Check. Do you want to harass them, pop their balloons, and then sit on top of them and grind them into the rocks? Check. Or maybe you just want to go full flamethrowers and toast them like a flying marshmallow. Check that too.

Do not buy this if:
  • You hate teamwork.
  • You don't speak English.
  • You don't have a microphone.

Seriously, don't. Because not only will you get very little out of it, and hate the game, everyone you fly with will hate you too.

DO buy this game if:
  • It sounds awesome (because it is.)
  • You want to boost the community count (seriously only 359 people playing on a Saturday? We <3 new players.)
  • You don't give a crap about Metacritic ratings (64? Was the reviewer drunk?)

It is worth noting that your ingame name is not tied to your Steam name. You will need to coordinate with your friends if their ingame names differ from their Steam names.

Pros:
+ Almost everyone in the player community is completely mad in a delightful way.
+ There's a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of something (a ship, gun, ammo type, role etc) it feels great.
+ The soundtrack is subtle and atmospheric.
+ Lots and lots of customisation for ship and crew loadouts.
+ Teamwork really is the core of this game.

Meh:
= While there are a variety of maps, they quickly become repetitive.
= The game modes also become repetitive, although this is mitigated greatly by the variety of loadouts. I've seen users band together to improve this by creating their own rules such as escort missions (agreeing beforehand that the loser will surrender). Hopefully the new Adventure mode will remedy some of this.
= The lobbies can take awhile to fill. This is getting better, though.

Cons:
- Lag spikes are a problem, especially when your ship is an inferno. OTOH, you can use this to your advantage by setting other ships on fire (Captain: "Quick! Reduce their framerate!")
- Very very rarely you run into the type of player who thinks they literally are an airship admiral and cuss out their crew accordingly.

You know how an Italian chef kisses his fingers and says something in Italian that translates to "A masterpiece" after tasting their own dish? That's how I feel about this game.
