Информация о дополнении

The Type 4 Class 50 ‘Hoovers’ were an express passenger locomotive that worked on much of the UK’s railway network, and is now available for Train Simulator.

Fifty of the Class were built in the late 1960s by English Electric at Vulcan Foundry Works and were exclusively used on the then non-electrified West Coast Main Line between Crewe, Carlisle and Scotland. Prior to TOPS classification, the Type 4 locomotives had a top speed of 100mph, being re-classified to the Class 50 and purchased from English Electric Leasing by British Rail in the early 1970s.

After electrification of the WCML, the Class 50s were displaced and transferred to the Western Region, working mainline passenger services from London Paddington along the Great Western Main Line. However, the Class was beset with reliability problems and BR made the decision to refurbish all 50 locomotives in the late 1970s. Whilst this temporarily resolved the reliability issues, by the early 1990s, just eight locomotives remained in service.

By 1994, the whole fleet had been withdrawn from service, but 18 were preserved and can today be found mainly on the UK’s heritage railways with many still certified for mainline running and used to head rail tours.

The Class 50 for Train Simulator, developed by Meshtools, is available in a variety of BR and privatised liveries, including BR Blue (TOPS and Pre-TOPS), Great Western Railway Green and BR Dual Green, Network South East Blue (original and revised) and BR Large Logo. Features of the model include independently operated screen wipers, four position reverser, two-tone horn, opening cab windows, operating sun visors and configurable locomotive running numbers and names.

The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the Class 50 on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the Settle to Carlisle route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).

Scenarios

Five scenarios for the Settle to Carlisle route:
  • Carlisle Commuter
  • Hoovering Pipes

I love this dirty, rusty, old iron pile. One of the must have DLC's in my opinion. Listen the unique sound of diesel engine. Old controls, late reaction times on brakes, like old engines... 10/10

Good engine, bought this during a sale, use it a lot to drag mk1, mk2 coaches and mixed freight on a lot routes..
Good fun on all lines.

A loud classic that looks very good on the Riviera Line. Not sure why this one got a reduced price, because there is nothing that other trains have that this one does not.

Now most people will know what a Deltic is but this is the "son of" Deltic, its drive gear completely interchangeable with Deltics, 37's and other EE derived units and it indeed inherited quite a bit from the mighty Deltic and is every bit as capable as its forebear.

Sadly, the 50 didn't capture the hearts of the rail community as the Deltic, the Western or the Warship types yet in this game, the 50 is very smooth, very predictable, excellent braking and superb sounds as she "hoovers" away, 100mph plus as well and able to pull a weighty train at those speeds makes this a worthy engine to add to your collection.

I will go against the grain with this one...
yes, Class 50 is essential, yes, this model has very good driving characteristics, yes it contains a lot of liveries...
However. This model is also a deeply flawed one - in lower detail settings, the texturing has inverted light, which makes the loco to look very weird and if this was not enough, the bundled Mk1 coaches have also problem with texturing (they look like they are filled with those crash test dummies).
Bundled scenarios are also... weird, to put it mildly (it is a wild mixture of liveries, not really fitting to any era in particular).

Do not buy this for full price.
Get it in sale, if you have to - and if you do not have to, ignore it... btw. some time ago I attempted to contact the devs (Meshtools) regarding this model, well, they ignored all my e-mails (just compare this attitude with some other devs who activelly help people with their product and even issue fixes...)
