Acerca deste conteúdo

The Class 67 is a very distinctive UK freight locomotive which can also turn its hand to passenger work, and now you can take control of this powerhouse in Train Simulator.

The Class 67 diesel electric locomotive, nicknamed the ‘skip’ by railfans, was originally designed as a replacement for the Class 47 to haul high-speed mail and passenger trains. Built in Spain between 1999 and 2000 by Alstom with a General Motors engine and transmission, initial tests proved the Class 67 to be capable of over 140mph. However, the locomotive’s heavy axle load led to a 110mph speed restriction on the class until modifications to the bogies allowed a safe operating speed of 125mph. The locomotives are still restricted to lower speeds on certain routes and particularly at under-bridges because of their axle weight. The engines and running gear are the same as in the Class 66, but with higher gearing to allow faster running.

These 90-ton locomotives can be found pulling freight trains, running Thunderbird passenger train rescue duties, hauling the Caledonian Sleeper and even pulling the Royal Train. The Class 67 for Train Simulator features a highly-detailed cab with accurate controls including digital speedometer, and rolling stock.

Includes:

  • Class 67 diesel-electric locomotive in EWS maroon, EWS Executive silver, royal claret and DB Schenker liveries
  • Rolling stock: Mk1 Gangway Full Brake NEX mail van and Mk3 SLEP sleeper coach

Bought this loco at list, as you get the sleeper carriages as standard. Play on this regular, as a sleeper train, all over the uk.
Had good value for money out of this, you also get mail coaches as standard as well.

A Good Contender

For its age, this is a surprisingly nice DLC.

Model: High quality and no obvious errors. The underframe might be lacking a little detail. Textures are decent, but most of the liveries are far too clean, like they are straight from the paint shop.

Sounds: Engine sounds, brake sounds and cab sounds are all there and high quality. The engine sounds may well of been copied from a US addon but they sound fine. The Horn - it doesn’t actually sound bad, but it is very short and just one sound, you can’t vary the length.

Scenarios: I’ve played most of them, they were nice.

Features: Plentiful:
    Pros:
  • There is a functional train length button: you press it, get a beep, then get two beeps when the back of train has passed the point that you pressed it at. Useful for playing without the HUD.
  • Above your head there is a switch to switch between passenger and freight brake timings. It moves but I'm unsure if it actually effects the brakes.
  • Opening cab windows!

    Cons:
  • It would be nice if the blind worked.
  • No cab light or instrument lights :(
  • Lack of passenger view for the included stock. This would have been interesting for the sleeper.

Freeware support: There are plenty of scenarios on the Workshop for a variety of routes, you should be able to find a few you can run. This pack is also popular for reskins: extra EWS, DBS, Wrexham and Shropshire and Arriva for the 67 are all out there. The Mk3s sleepers are also popular in reskin circles as this is one of very few packs that include them. This free content for the pack considerably increases the value for money.

We have to mention the competition: 3rd party developer Just Trains also offer a Class 67. This includes many more features, such as a start sequence and a slow speed control system. Whether the extra four pounds is worth it is up to you.

I hope this helps you decide whether to part with your money.
