About This Content

The Class 170 Turbostar is a great modern passenger train which is perfectly at home on any UK Train Simulator route.

Known as the Turbostar, the Class 170 DMU (diesel multiple unit) was built between 1998 and 2005 and continues to serve across England and Scotland on regional and suburban passenger services. With a top speed of 100mph thanks to all cars being driven, the Class 170 also proved capable of longer journeys, and altogether 122 sets were built. The Class 171 is identical apart from having Dellner couplings rather than the BSI type found on the Class 170. The Class 170 for Train Simulator has realistic controls and sounds and includes a selection of liveries and a Class 171 variant.

I would really recommend this pack to anyone. It's very extensive and there are a lot of different rail service designs. (Scotrail, Southern etc). I haven't found any problems with this add-on and it runs on every route/map I have. Great train, not too bothered by the price which seemed reasonable.

The class 170 is a very nice edition, which of course operates on quite a lot of routes so there are quite a few scenarios that could be made out of this. It also comes with a Southern class 171, with the correct coupling. Unfortunately, it isn’t very operable.

Comes in many liveries, worth grabbing, as it's probably local to almost everyone.

A rather nice addon, which has large potential for a number of routes. It contains a great variety of liveries to go with and overall is nice and easy to drive. The only problem I have is the sounds, as it doesn't sound anything like a real life Turbostar. However if you can put that to one side, it's an enjoyable addon.

It's a decent addon for the price (currently £3 on offer) and id definatly recomend it for this price. Comes with a supprising amoutn of liverys. Only downsides are the lack of a passenger view and smoke effects.

This is ONLY a 'yes' if you buy it on sale, do not buy this at full price.

Don't get me wrong, this is a nice unit, the cab looks good, I like the sounds and it comes with a load of liveries but not putting ANY scenarios with it seems a bit lazy. You can of course get some from the workshop but to me, a payware product should work right 'out of the box' so to speak, withoiut you having to download more stuff to get proper use out of it.

It's certainly a good train if you're looking to learn how to use diesels that may not have a large amount of power.
