Om dette innholdet

The Dash 9 brings some heavy hauling to Train Simulator, and with a great mix of liveries it is perfect for North American railfans looking to expand their freight fleets.

The Dash 9 was introduced by General Electric in 1993 with the model designation C44-9W, and the 4,000 horsepower ‘Dash 9’ proved very popular with railroads across the US. Over their production life, the Dash 9s have amounted to almost 2500 units across more than 10 operators on 3 continents around the world. Sadly these numbers are diminishing all the time as this powerhouse is replaced by the more efficient Evolution Series, due to stricter emissions requirements introduced in 2005. The Dash 9 for Train Simulator gives you BNSF, Norfolk Southern and Canadian National colour schemes and replicates the controls and complex dynamic braking system of this high-powered hauler.
Includes:

The Dash 9 locomotive in 6 colour schemes: BNSF weathered, BNSF clean, War Bonnet weathered, War Bonnet clean, Norfolk Southern and Canadian National.

Great pullers I had them for atleast 2 years now. They look awsome in any lash-up the only thing I would change is give us more stuff to do in the cab

The loco looks good, but if you're planning on using this loco going DOWN a steep grade like Marias Pass or Cajon Pass, be warned: the force of the dynamic brakes is too powerful and will automatically trigger wheelslip, even at low speed. This can also cause derailments on long freights (happened to me several times). Also the couplings stretch too much so that when you start the loco on a heavy freight the couplers look like they float. The couplers create issues when using the locos to simulate DPU operations with locos in different parts of the train because due to the distance the couplers are allowed to stretch the loco can clip into the freight car in front of it and if too much throttle is used or the slack isn't taken up by the front end properly it can lift the rear car off the rails. This doesn't trigger a derail unless you try to uncouple the unit from the car (again this has happened to me).

I'd personally recommend not using this unit as your driveable loco in mountainous territory because of the dynamic brake issue and the couplers or very much at night due to lack of cab lights (it's an old model - 2012 or thereabouts and cab lighting didn't become a thing until about 2014). Also not recommended for helper service either mid- or end of train. Keep it as your 2nd-3rd engine in your lead consist.

I'm left disappointed by the scenarios due to a lack of real-life practices and situations, but then again scenarios included in routes and loco dlc usually suck anyway so par for the course.

Overall it looks nice outwardly but internally it hasn't aged well in my opinion - and I'm the guy who usually sticks up for DTG/RSC.

great loco model but they could have added flashing ditch lights on the NS model and the crappy crap horn is easily fixed

I love this engine. It's my favorite engine ever. But there are some bad qualities. Neither the hornor bell are good at ALL and the numbering is wrong on the CN and NS locos. Otherwise, these are awesome. The NS ones Work great on the Horseshoe Curve route (check out my scenarios, for 2 of them use Dash-9s) and the engine sounds are great. They also have different liveries on Railworks America, including NS Horsehead, NS Unibrow, NS Primer (the colors they were in before they were delivered), CN, and BC Rail. Those are only the ones I downloaded! Overall, they are really good.

It's a great locomotive. I got it last year in the Thanksgiving sale. ALthough the sounds, horn and bell are the exact same as the Kuju ES44AC. You get several different liveries(BNSF, BNSF dirty, BNSF Warbonnet, BNSF Warbonnet dirty, CN and NS) along with four scenarios(1 free roam, 2 standard and 1 career). The sounds may not be the best but other than that it's a nice add-on.
