About This Content

The Munich to Augsburg line is a fantastic German high-speed railway line for Train Simulator, complete with ICE 3 high-speed trains.

The 61-kilometer (38-mile) line between the two Bavarian cities of Munich and Augsburg was completed in 1840, and was soon nationalised as part of the Royal Bavarian State Railway. High speed upgrades began more than a century later, with the first 200km/h (124mph) section of the route opening in 1977. The fully-electrified Munich-Augsburg line is now one of Germany’s busiest lines, with around 300 trains per day using the route including trans-European services. The main line has four tracks, enabling ICE trains to run at high speed without interruption, with separate tracks for the S-Bahn services at the Munich end of the line.

The Munich-Augsburg route for Train Simulator is a highly-detailed recreation of the route complete with all the unmistakable stations and landmarks, and includes the ICE 3 high-speed train plus local trains.

61-kilometer/38-mile high-speed route from Munich to Augsburg, featuring the huge Munich Main Station complete with underground S-Bahn station.

I had hoped this route would be good and as far as scenery goes it is. However the endless missing speed markers and messed up HUD are real let downs. An example, I'm heading towards Pasing at 40 kmh in a 40 zone all good, I pass a 60kmh marker, the end of the train passes it and the HUD shows a speed of 60kmh, I raise the speed above 40kmh and I get a speeding error and lost points. Entering Pasing or any other station there are varied speed reductions, not one is shown in the HUD, this does rather render the game a bit useless.
Then there's the issue of the quick drive scenarios not working at all.
Thus another route carelessly built with no seeming quality control; how hard can it be to have someone actually test the route by someone that actually gives a monkey's?
Sadly, this can not be recommended until fixed and was a waste of my money.

This is a line where you can test your speed and mettle. Good use of scenery and appropriate quality. The ICE is nice to drive, can go up to 300 km/h and have auto cruise control which changes its top speed to the line and overall good.

Very nice route, but too many errors in speed zones and speed idicators though. This takes all the fun out of the route. Driving a scenario is a nightmare because speeds change from 60 to 40 etc. without warning. Speeds change with no warning and Speed Errors are frequent. I am trying to avoid this route if possible.

Seems a great scenario, plays vary smooth. But when playing on drive (as in not career) and I play the snow scenario I keep being told I haven't completed a stop properly even though I am stopping at the station, at the target part of the platofrm and letting passengers on and off. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

There's one thing that I can't stand when playing TS addons. Broken scenarios that I can't finish at all or can't get a gold medal for (in case of career ones). This addon used to have such a problem (bad point rewards) and I was just about to write a negative review for it. But yesterday I replayed the career ones and was able to get gold after all. Has it been updated recently? Anyway, now I can recommend this route, especially for ones who like fast services. The speed limits go up to 280km/h so it's faster than e.g. Hamburg-Hannover. The scenery is suprisingly rich and good looking to me and all systems (PZB, LZB, AFB) work just fine on all three included locos. Just some minor problems worth highlighting:
- the detail on the locos is mediocre
- sudden split-second speed limit changes happen occasionally which luckily don't prevent you from getting that gold
- this addon has the same base price as other more recent routes, in my opinion it should be cheaper. you can still get it on sale at times though

This DLC is full of bugs. Quick Drive scenarios will not load from Munich to Augsburg. I can't believe they actually released this route and charge real money for it. It needs to be fixed and update released.

Nice route and love the ICE, but the number of bugs is huge! Mostly incorrect speed changes (like from 160-140-120-160 in 30 seconds!). Makes it impossible to complete some of the scenarios.

The line from Munich-Augsburg is a nice route to travel on in Train Sim, with a good mix of local stopping services to high-speed runs. A few problems though. 1 It's too linear. 2. The BR 423 was left out of the base package and 3. The sounds of the ICE 3 and probably the BR 101 and 294. Get it in a package like the Commuter Europe Pack which comes with this route and London-Brighton AND DB BR 423, FCC Class 319 and the Southern Class 421 for $21.49.

The route is nice, the trains are nice. However, it only includes 4 career scenarios (which seems to be copies of the standard scenarios). The 2 ICE scenarios aren't the most appealing ones. "Storming into Munich" takes you in the dark, stormy weather. "Wash and Go" requires you to take it extremely slow the first 15 minutes or so (max speeds 40km/h and even 10km/h in the wash). Altough the track speed limit is 280km/h, the stretch is not long enough for you to achieve that speed. The Class 294 locomotive has no career scenarios (only standard scenarios).

Bugs, crashes and lags, horrible. It is laughable that there is a 'german collection' for the same price and DTG keeps selling this for the same price as it is, horrible.

Although, I recommend buying the route in the collection and I even recommend buying the route because there is a third party route that consists of München to Augsburg, Garmisch and Rosenheim, the map on it contains fixes and you get a real justice and bang for your buck for free! It contains quickdrive what everyone loves and you can basically go from Augsburg to Rosenheim via München! Quite amazing.

So yeah, standalone the track is crap and not recommended, but if you buy all three maps and set them together, then the whole thing gets recommended for use! :D

Updated to recommended after Roshenheim + Garmisch + Augsburg track updated, 10 out of 10.

Standalone mod is just 6 out of 10, only buy when on sale!

The route is good enough, but the scenarios for the ICE are too easy.
Not worth the 24.99, but get it on sale definetely.
I got it in the commuter EU collection, with london-Brighton and locos, and with the DB BR 423.

I got this route as aprt of a package with London to Brighton. I was looking forward to driving this route but I've hardly driven due to the the errors in it. There are speed changes with no warning, signals go back to red in front of you for no reason and timings that I would have trouble running to if I were in a Ferrari let alone a train.

It's a shame really because this route has a lot of potential what with the pleasant scenery and the high speed running but the negatives far outweigh the positives. I'm just glad I didin't pay full price for it because I don't think it's worth the money but as part of a pack it's ok at best.
