“Endless Space is smart, polished and intelligent game of countless permutations. Its strength lies in how carefully and how cleverly it's balanced, as well as how it rewards all kinds of playing styles. We haven't seen a strategy game quite like this in a while.”
8/10 – IGN

“In case it's not yet clear: go for it. If you are an experienced player, go for it. You are rather inexperienced with the 4X genre and it frightens you? Go for it.”
9/10 – FactorNews

“For a first game, it is surprisingly complex, demanding and motivating.”

About This Game

This galaxy is ancient, and its first intelligent life was the civilization we call the Endless. Long before our eyes gazed upon the stars they flew between them, though all that remains of this people is what we call Dust. A substance found scattered or in forgotten temples, it once gave powers to admirals and galactic governors. The galaxy will belong to the faction that can take control of the Dust and uncover its secrets…

A Born Leader

Guide one of eight civilizations as you strive for galactic dominion. Will you control the entire galaxy through subtle trade and diplomacy, explore every corner of the universe to find powerful artifacts and resources, overwhelm other civilizations with your advanced technologies, or destroy your enemies with massive armadas?

Endless Discoveries

With hundreds of star systems to explore, different planet types, luxuries and strategic resources to exploit, the mysteries within the Dust to master and a host of strange scientific phenomena to deal with, the player will have no lack of challenges. Hire heroes to become fleet admirals or system governors and discover five hero classes and their unique ability trees and specializations.

Space Opera

Experience Endless Space with state-of-the-art graphics and interface, switch between strategic battle decisions and long-term planning. Optimize each fleet for epic battles around contested stars. Create the perfect combinations from dozens of unique ships per civilization. Customize your ship with modules, armament, engines and special mods. The player has a plethora of choices of how to best destroy or dissuade his enemy.

Take on the Universe

Play against up to seven opponents and build up – or break – alliances at will. Discover an innovative and dynamic simultaneous turn-based gameplay. Permit instant jump-in for your ongoing online games. Define your own custom civilizations and confront the ones created by your friends.

Endless Replayability

Control every new game’s scope, from a quick match-up to an endless war. Generate an infinity of random galaxies where every start begins a new adventure. Modify the size, shape, density, age and a lot more to create your ideal galaxy. Choose from different victory conditions and adapt your strategy on the fly.

Endless Space is Civ5 in space instead of on a planet. If you like Civ5, you will like Endless Space. If you do not like Civ5, you will not like Endless Space. It has a steep learning curve for the uninitiated, matches can take well over 10 hours at times, and it has the same nuances (for better or worse) as Civ5. The ES community is also much smaller and answers for many questions which new players may have are not as easily found, but I do not think that this game was made with non-Civ players in mind. I enjoy this game very much, but I like "boring" macro and micro sims like this.

Do not buy this game for its alleged space combat, because you will auto-simulate most battles if your purpose is winning, and the battles when not auto-simulated are mostly unpredictable rock-paper-scissors-other element-second other element in formula which do not let you control it like the screenshots may indicate. This does not make this game bad at all, but it also does not make ES a space combat game, either.

Was enjoying this game. It's pretty hard, but superficially, just have to outsmart a cheating AI.

Wasn't given an achievement that I earned.

Then my saves of a really good run wasn't able to be loaded, none of them.
If a game can't even properly handle their saving system, which is essential in a long game like this, it will not be recommended.

If you enjoy raging over a game that you could enjoy but then punches you in the face with faulty saves, by all means, get it.
I'm not playing it again however.

Similar to Endless Legend, this game is quite dull. You spend lots of time micromanaging planets and the decisions you make aren't that interesting. But most of all the combat sucks. It's non-interactive, you are provided little feedback or understanding as to why a battle was win or lost, and the ship customization ability is not very interesting.

Endless space is a 4x strategy game set in well space. The game contains(Currently)12 factions each one playing quite diffrently from each other for instance you have the Cravers which for the first 20 turns on a colonzied planet gain +25% FIDS(Food,Industry,Dust,Science)After that they get a 40 turn no bonus no negatives and finally for the rest of the game a -25% FIDS.The Galaxy looks quite nice and isnt too Graphically intense(I Can run it quite well). The Units howver come with a in game unit designer as you research new tech you get new parts which you can add to your ship this makes the units quite flexible and diffrent. The tech tree is huge and seperated into 4 diffrent paths.Space combat is seperated into 4 parts Arrival,Long range,Medium Range and Melee Range. Each range is better for diffrent weapons. You have two ways to do space battles Auto or you can WATCH the units fight no commanding. However in both modes you must pick a tactic for your units to do in all phases.Ground combat is seperated into Sieges which u can do by adding siege modules to your ships.many more things can be said but i think by now your falling asleep.Overall this game is a 4x Jewel

It's a software program with a lovely UI, a deep, developed universe, and atmospheric tone layered on so thick it's dripping off the sides. Somewhere, however, they forgot to put in the gameplay. A long, drawn out, beautiful version of repeatedly ejecting and closing the CD drives on the lab computers in high school.

I've had this game for a while, I got it just after my daughter was born.
It's wonderful, its just the right pace to play with her sat on my lap, I can just click away and manage at my own pace.

This games biggest strength is it's soundtrack, it's beautifle.

I probably wouldnt get the game full price as I feel the combat is a bit lacking amongst other things.

I was sure I had more than 8 hours on the game, I've spent days on it. But hey ho.

If you like a nice chilled out game this is the one to go for.

In tutorial mode. Game freezes. Using the lowest possible visual setting this game froze 3 times
in less than an hour. I didn't have these sorts of issues with Endless Legend. I regret buying and wish
I could get refund, but this thing has sat in my inventory for months. I want to play it, but I can't.

Ships also have problem moving sometimes.

Nope.
Just Nope.

You guys know.
I am seriously a Fan of Games in this Genre.
And Generally Endless Space is not an Bad Idea.

Its just that the actual Result they got Sucks.
Many Events and other Stuff just have no Real Explanation. Hell you get Events of stuff and have no Idea what even happened cause its not even telling you were something happened on your Planets.
Needless to say that you first have to look into each nook and cranny to find out what stuff is even doing at all.
And even then sometimes there is just some Modifier and you got no idea that it was there or why its there....

The Interface in General is very annoying. Alot of stuff requires you to Check every system manually over and over.
And you cant just Build everything on one Place to build out one System you have to Search for the Stuff on each Planet itself.

But you know.
The Interface and Events and all that Stuff can be Acceptable.
It makes the Game really hard to get into as an Beginner. But once you know everything. You can Play it fairly Good with that.

The 2 Things really Breaking this Game for me.

Are
1.
That the Game is entirely Unstable in Multiplayer.
After Round 100 you can Expect it to Crash or Freeze once per 20 Turns.
Which is entirely Unacceptable.
2.
The Game is creating an very very stupid mix.
Its setting you up in very small Places right next to other Empires thus pretty much forcing you into an very fast paced Combat situation.
While at the same Time Combat is entirely Automatic only allowing for minimal Influence from your Side.
The Strong Point of this Game which is Management and Strategy is Completely Dropped because you never get a Chance to really make use of it. As even on the absolute biggest Map Settings you will meet the First Enemy in Turn 30 and thats given your really Lucky.
But the Combat Aspect of the Game is seriously not worth mentioning. It lacks replayability. So even if Winning a War your just not feeling Good on it. Because well your basicly just cliking through the Combat after a While because there is no real sense in doing anything else.

So in the End.
It could have been a Great Game if they would have Fixed the Stability Issues. And would have Enlarged the Maps so you can actually make some use of the good Parts of the Game and dont end up thrown into a War right away anyways.

This game is horrible.
First you get to start fighting a new enemy so the first ingagment goes bad for you. So withen 2 turns your re deploy your forces know that they shoot at close range but suck at long and medium. You set up for heavy long range with heavy defence. You go back in with close to same fire power. Then magikly or the knows what stratigy to use all of a suddon and poof your fleet goes boom. Oh and did I forget to say that somehow they refit for long range? WTF devs thats some cheep "oh i dont know how to make a game hard so I will let the game cheat" thats.

This game is bugged out enough that I have decided to uninstall and never return to it. if you alt tab out of the game it breaks a number of features in very covert ways that took many hours of testing to confirm. every few hours a curroption will randomly occour for a number of difrent ui funtcions. mainly the changing of population density between planets. To top this off the games difficulty to my knowlegde dosn't give the ai an unfair advantage it gives you an unfair disadvantage by decreasing the quality of your start. the gameplay is incredibly slow and understanding what is better between two options requires two complete attempts at a play through. I really wanted to love this game and I feel that it does many things qeiut well but at large it causes more stress in me then it elviates and so feels more like work then a game.

It is a simple, but yet complex strategy game.

+ Fun to play,
+ Addctive and easy to master, mediocre to learn
+ The fractions are well designed.
+ Exploration, strategic rescorces and planet positions are key elements

- Lacks good multiplayer co-op options (team victory does not excist)
- Some minor glitch/bugs here and there
- End game chart is way to simple.
- The computer AI is moronic in easier levels and "cheats" in higher.

Nautral opinions: When understanding the ship design and battle chart you can win against stronger enemies very easily. It's good to feel overpowered even when the enemies are surperior, but it makes the game way to easy if you're equal or better around mid game.

Recommend to start with "United Empires" as your first time fraction. "Harmony" last.

I tried really hard to like this game, I really did. I was hoping it was going to be a great Civilization-esque game set in a science fiction universe, but there are just too many flaws for me to genuinely like it.
The balancing is crap, some races are literally just inferior to others in broken and unfixable ways (Sowers) and others are overpowered even by the game's own point buy system (Horatio).

The game needs a serious overhaul for me to give it a second chance.

Really well differentiated races to play - the space battles are a bit mechanical for my liking but you're free to skip the in-battle sequences and play it as a 'space civ' with no downsides.

The invasion mechanic is a bit hard to get your head around, but once you read up a little it's implemented well.

Seeing what Amplitude have added in Endless Legend I'm really looking forward to Endless Space 2.

Definitely worth getting when on sale. A nice 4x space game you can play for an hour or so and come back to later. I really enjoy the music and the clean UI; the tech tree and custom ship building is well-thought out and will give you that bit of encouragement to play a little long. Only issue I find is the steep learning curve but a few Youtube videos helped a lot.

A classic: loads of (patient) fun. Solid AI. Complex without being frustrating to learn. Nice graphics too.

Only notable drawback is (like a lot of 4X games) the end-game can become dull because you've built up so much strength that knocking down the rest of the dominos is basically just a formality; something to balance the scales a bit more at that point would have been great.

I am a die hard strategy game fan and have played many, if not all, strategy games on steam or elsewhere. Now the mame Endless Space is a worthy name for the game. For it really is endless fun, an endless hours worth of effort which reaps endless amount of joy, (if you dont mind a bit of hard core strategy action every now and then with indie games)
.--------------------------------PROS------------------------------
1.The game has a Hero system which distinguishes it from other strategy base building games. The plus side is you're not bored after long while playing this game,it adds variety to the game play, slightly opens up the multitude of outcomes, and gives a sense of control to the players which is unmatched in the entire game.
2.The tech tree is unique in that it has four varieties: diplomacy, applied sciences, military, exploration. Each has its own flavor. Military provides might, diplomacy gives keys to diplomacy, applied science sometimes reveals new resources or helps in development of a star system, exploration lets you colonize new planets and star systems. Together they give a unique blend to the game play.
3.Exploration of the galaxy is fun for any newb or experienced player alike
---------------------------------CONS-----------------------------
1.Some technolgies hold the key to survival. For example if you dont discover wormhole travel you cannot travel to other planets or star systems, similarly if you dont discover applied technologies you are more then likely not going to discover hidden advantages of certain resources.
2.The game uses a point system for rating players. Problem is, once your points overtake any of the A.I.s the A.I. attacks you where you're more than likely to lose the war. So its advisable to move ahead of the pack
All in all its a 6.5/10 and definitely worth the buy, if you can handle a bit of warfare maneuvers from the A.I. and have the spirit to colonize the galaxy.
