About This Game

Michel Ancel, celebrated creator of Rayman®, Beyond Good & Evil®, and the Raving Rabbids®, returns to his roots to bring us Rayman® Origins: a high-definition, 2D side-scrolling, platforming adventure with full four-player co-op!

Play Rayman Origins and discover or rediscover the magical universe and legendary 2D gameplay that captured the hearts of millions of fans...

When the Glade of Dreams is overrun by “nefurrious” Darktoons, the Fairy Council hastily invokes Rayman to save the day; but the hero of light isn’t quite all there…To help him, Rayman teams up with his best friend, Globox, and two crafty wizards, the Teensies. Together, the world’s most hilarious team of heroes will need to restore peace to the Glade, or watch as their beloved home vanishes like a bad dream...

Key Features

  • Rebirth of a Platforming Legend: It’s been 15 years since the initial launch of Rayman. Rayman Origins brings back many of the classic characters, revived in their original 2D form, as well as a whole new world of characters and environments.
  • Four-Player, Jump-In/Jump-Out, Co-op Gameplay: Play as Rayman in the solo campaign, or have up to three friends jump in at any time to play as Globox or as one of the two Teensies. Players can leave at any time without affecting the others’ progression.
  • Unique Approach to 2D Art: A rich world with over 100 characters and 12 unique environments created by some of the video gaming’s most reputed artists and animators. This creative approach to 2D design will recapture the hearts of platformer fans and introduce a new generation to one of the industry’s best-loved characters in his original 2D form.
  • A Vast Playground: Rayman Origins includes over 60 levels of 2D platforming gameplay designed for all ages and playing styles. Unlock new abilities progressively and return to previous levels to discover new paths and secrets.
  • Variety of Gameplay: Rayman Origins is a platformer at its core, but it has elements of many game genres. Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies gain unique abilities as they progress through the adventure, including swimming, diving and the sensational “HairlyCopter.” The game also features many elements of action, adventure, and beat-’em-up gameplay.
  • Epic Boss Fights: A giant pink monster with hundreds of eyes... A possessed, mountainous golem... An evil daisy-cum-carnivorous plant...Rayman Origins will put players to the test with these and many more challenging boss battles!
  • A Handful of Highly Talented Artists and Engineers: Rayman Origins was developed by the UBIart team in Montpellier and is built on an open-source game engine - the UBIart Framework - designed by Michel Ancel to allow much smaller teams of artists and developers to produce incredibly high-quality graphics and gameplay quickly and efficiently. This garage-game approach has led to great strides in creativity and innovation.

Let's just hope they don't port this one to every single electronical device in existence like they did with Rayman 2.

Best Platform Game of 2011, and created the path for Legends, which is even better.

A great game for young and old who feel young. The most fun to play with 3 or 4 players.
A really good catch... After playing through Rayman Legends is a must.

I'm stuck in a black screen. The music is nice though.

Edit: I had to go the regedit and set fullscreen to "1".

Game is amazing! I prefer Origins compared to Legends.

I bought this for the Wii back in 2011 and it's been a favourite ever since. Few developers have reached Nintendo's level when it comes to platformers, but Ubisoft delivered a masterpiece here. It's one of the finest games from the last generation and I can't recommend it enough! It's a total joy to play, it's beautiful to look at, it's relentlessly great fun, the soundtrack is beyond description in its brilliance, and it all makes for a 10/10 must buy.

Play this game through to the end, and you will find yourself slowly driven mad as you realise the game's level design is actually a sinister ploy to make you lose your grip, over and over, in your attempt to reach the exit. It might start out with a hand on your shoulder and some encouraging words to help you along, but before you know it you find yourself thrown off the metaphorical cliff as you reset the same stage for the twentieth time in order to bypass the same obstacle, while the game gives you a patronizing pat on the back and asks if you don't want to just give up already.

Pretty game, the visuals are a work of art, but the level designers were a band of sadistic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s beyond compare.

Up to four player platforming mayhem. Storyline is dismal and easily forgotten, however, the the music, the art, and the gameplay are all topnotch. The movement is phenomenal and gives you so much freedom to exploit the maps to the fullest. The art is straight out of Saturday Morning Cartoons. It is a delight to watch. But this game truly shines when you play this multiplayer mode. You can slap each other, punch each other and do so much more to each other and sometimes it plays a perfect part in the game, other times it just adds that much more fun to the game.

An absolute contender for best platforming game ever. Don't miss this one.

It is a very fun platformer, maybe one of the best Rayman games.

It does what that title says, it brings Rayman back to where he came from and it is done extremely well.

Bright, colourful and so happy, happy, joy, joy it's impossible not to like.
Precise controls, beautiful graphics and great music too.
The perfect cure for a Dark Souls 2 hangover.
8/10.

Gorgeous hand drawn animation and fantasic gameplay. On the difficult side, but game has a forgiving setup where you can help a younger player through the more difficult sections of a level. Love some good old school 2-d platforming, and this game is probably the best in this particular genre. I give it a thumbs up!

A beautiful 2D platformer, which you can play with your friends. (local) This game feels so natural, smooth and not too difficult. Lots of unlockable characters, great music and lots of collectibles in the levels themselves.

Would recommend to play with friends though! Makes so much more fun.

Rayman: Origins is a 2D side-scrolling, platforming adventure with full four-player local co-op.
Rayman accidentally started a war with the Livid Dead, the monsters lurking beneath the otherwise peaceful Glade of Dreams.
The protagonist must work his way through a series of themed stages, collecting floating objects called "Lums", and rescuing critters known as "Electoons" from hidden cages. Reaching certain Lum targets can earn extra "Electoons", which unlock new levels and characters.
Besides of jumping Rayman learns new skills such as hovering, swimming and shrinking, bringing a compelling variety to the action, and testing your dexterity to the limits.
On your way you have to cross floating platforms, dissolving platforms, platforms that twist and turn, that bounce you into the air or slowly fall and fade.
Rayman: Origins has impressive graphics, the backgrounds are beautifully drawn and has multiple layers of action.
The levels vary from familiar takes on platforming staples – cloud levels and underwater levels – to such oddities as a world based on didgeridoos.
Alongside the standard platforming levels, there are boss encounters, and scrolling shoot-'em-up challenges in which you leap on to a mosquito and fly through formations of angry birds and spiky puffer fish.
Rayman Origins features drop-in/drop-out cooperative play for up to four players at a time and as long as one of you stays alive to free injured players from bubbles in which they become trapped when hit, progress through a level remains possible.
Everywhere there is humour and whimsy, every screen a feast of bizarre scenery and weird inhabitants.
Rayman: Origins is one of the best platforming experiences you are going to have on Steam. The game is crafted with so much love, so much humor, and does so many things right, that it is impossible not to have a blast. It is definitly worth the money.

Sounds 8/10
Graphics 8/10
Gameplay 9/10
Atmosphere 9/10
