About This Game

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD takes the best elements of the classic THPS games and gives them a fresh update to create an all new skateboarding experience for PC. The gameplay in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD focuses on the satisfaction of linking sick tricks for maximum points. Combining sharp visuals with the best controls ever in a Tony Hawk game, the feel is cutting edge yet timeless.

Key Features

  • THPS and THPS2 gameplay comes to PC!
  • HD Upgrade: Game was rebuilt and polished by Robomodo using Neversoft’s original level models.
  • Classic levels: The style and feel of the best 7 levels from THPS and THPS2 (Warehouse, School 2, Mall, Hangar, Venice, Marseille and Phoenix Downhill Jam) refreshed for today. The levels are exactly the same specs as the originals - every gap, SKATE Letter, etc is exactly where you remember it but looks a hell of a lot better!
  • The Top Pros: Today’s biggest skate pros round out the cast including: Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins Pastrana, Riley Hawk and, of course, Tony Hawk himself. Each has 8 boards, 3 special moves, and an alternate outfit.
  • Refined controls: The skaters’ animations, tricks and combos reflect the evolution of the THPS games. Animations are improved, the tricks have been redone (and some new special tricks added), even “skater celebrations” have been added for big combos.
  • Manuals and Reverts: You can do manuals as part of trick combos in THPS HD. Given the fact that this game combines the best gameplay from THPS1 and THPS2, Reverts will not work as part of trick combos in the initial launch of THPS HD as that mechanic was not introduced until THPS3. However, reverts will work in the post-release DLC for the THPS3 levels, as those levels were originally designed to accommodate this.
  • Endlessly fun objectives: Players pursue the same global and level-specific goals as the original games, including S-K-A-T-E, Secret DVD (used to be VHS tape!), and many more.
  • In-Game Soundtrack: It is about half classic THPS tracks and half new ones. Includes Goldfinger’s “Superman” and the Anthrax/Public Enemy collaboration “Bring the Noise”.
  • Downloadable content: Coming post-release, The “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 HD Revert Pack” DLC includes levels from THPS3 including Airport, Canada, and LA. New pros included are legends Steve Caballero and Geoff Rowley.
  • In Game Map View: Pause and see the location of objectives and gaps.
  • Quick Restart: Back button allows you to quickly restart their session. Perfect for the obsessive gamer who is looking to achieve the perfect combo.

The best skating game on the PC in the past 5 years.

It's most likely also the only skating game for the PC in the past 5 years.

if you press the grind and kickflip buttons at the same time near a ramp, the skater just flies up into the unknown.

8/10, great fun

I am a person who LOVES Tony Hawk games. I've played and beaten every single one, (Save Ride & Project 8, but do those really count?) so I was super stoked to try this one out.
this was not made clear to me, so I'm going to bold this out for people;
THIS IS NOT A PORT OR GRAPHICAL UPDATE, IT IS A NEW ENGINE WITH THE SAME MAPS
why is this such a big deal? It feels different. For someone who spent 100's of hours with THPS 1 & 2 this is a huge deal. It just doesn't play the same, and that breaks it for me. There are just so many things wrong with this game.
-only single player available
-no re-mapping controls
-the only graphics option is to change your resolution
-they've taken out the option to skip ♥♥♥♥ty songs (why?) & They've added a lot of new ones that suck.
-They've taken out the park editor from thps2
-I run into physics glitches all the time

A port or re-release of the original games even with no HD update would have been 900X better than this, this is a poorly made, rushed-feeling wanna be remake of a classic that deserves better.

What DO I recommend? Buy or download one of the official tony hawk PC releases, or buy a Dreamcast of Craigslist and google how to burn the games yourself.

Brought back a lot of good memories from growing up, and a lot of frustrations. A decent buy if you have a controller and a third-party software for it since you can't edit keybindings.

THPS HD is a lot of fun to pick up and play. The engine holds up well enough, running smooth and bugless the entire time, despite some of it's bizzaro physics during bails (which in my oppinion add to its unique charm!). The sound track is decent enough, but you will find it repeating fairly often, not much you can do about that. For the asking price, I would highly recommend giving it a try! I definately enjoyed playing it through to completion. :) I would also recommend playing with a gamepad.

This game was developed by Robomodo instead of the original Neversoft, but it is still published by Activision. It is more of a highlight reel put together by fans of the franchise than a 100% port of the original. That being said, it is still very much Tony Hawk Pro Skater and has hours of playability.

The base game has seven levels from THPS 1 & 2 (Warehouse, School II, Hangar, Mall, Venice Beach, Downhill Jam, Marseilles), and the DLC adds three huge maps from THPS 3 (Airport, LA, Canada). An awesome feature they used was that they locked all of the levels, making you play and complete the challenges in order to progress to the next stage. The hidden S-K-A-T-E's are all still in their original places, as well as the VHS's, except they have been changed to DVD's.

Purchasing the DLC also adds the ability to revert during combos on all maps, allowing you to carry them for a longer amount of time. Additional content includes four new skaters: Steve Caballero, Geoff Rowley, James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo of Metallica.

Most of the complaints I see are about wonky physics, but the franchise has always had wonky physics. I booted up my original THPS2 on console and it was pretty damn wonky. But that is what added to the fun and charm of the franchise, at least to me. However, there unfortunately are no multiplayer game modes, and there is also no level editor.

Still highly recommended for skateboarding fans and fans of the franchise!

Worth to buy, if:

-You played older Tony Hawk games. You feel the same tipical atmosphere, only with better textures and a better engine

-You like skate games at all and an absolute great graphic isn't so important to you

It would be great if you could change the controls but since you can't it's so hard to play.

While this may not be the most realistic skating game out there its still a hell of a lot of fun and it brings back some nostalgia from the old tony hawk games

This game is hilariously bad. We didn't need any more proof but this is a perfect example where creativity has gone in games.

This is trying to remake the gameplay of an N64 game and it doesn't even do it. There are big parts of the original gameplay that aren't in this remake.

This remake also has a sponsored company's logo right under the time for the entire game. It is a giant commercial.

There are so many bugs. crashing at the end of a grind for no reason, at the middle of a grind. So many times the character randomly bails. Be careful where you skate you might clip through part of the level, fall into a spot that is impossible to get back, or run into an invisible wall somewhere that makes no sense at all.

The animations don't even look like they're performing the tricks. This entire game seems like it was made by people that wanted to make the series look bad. It is amazing.

The sound makes me very sad because it is my dream to do sound for games, and whoever was responsible for it did an amazingly bad job. The mix, the sounds, the lack of sounds, so much about this.

Seriously I would love to work on garbage like this because at least I would do such a great job it would stand out. It is embarrassing that I bought this, but it is amazing such amateur work can be promoted because of the well known franchize made by actual skilled people that cared. All you need to do is care. Activision are taking advantage of people's time by not making something enjoyable. The people making the game should have made it enjoyable, but ultimately Activision decided to sell it. Basically I would love the opportunity for people's time to impress them. It is ridiculous they don't try to make games that impress people in every way possible.

This game is pretty garbage. I was so pumped about it I blindly dove in without reading up first. I thought it would include the features of the originals but instead it is just a lazy semi compilation. No create a skater and no multi, even offline. Kind of a joke. If you just want to kill a few minutes here and there it is OK. Just don't spend full price on this.

No graphics options except resolution. Lack of keybinding makes playing on a foreign keyboard practically impossible. The original game itself seems solid.

Said it was going to bring back the old tony hawk games feel with the old maps, music, skate boards etc, it did nothing of the sort. Also, it only reased one dlc with other maps.

Also keyboard controls are god awful.

First off, do NOT get this game if you don't have a controller. That being said, it's alright. Not good, just sort of "meh".

The game was only $10 usd so I had no problem forking over the cash. Plus, at the low price, I had low expectations for this. There are a LOT of bugs (if you try to do a flip or grab trick when landing a grind, your character flies to oblivion and the map selection has extremly little to offer. But the biggest letdown is the lack of arcade-multiplayer. Some of the best points of the series was the games: Grafitti, trick attack, and horse. None of those options are here. Just single player.

All in all, it's reasonably priced for the crap revamp that it is. If you don't have much else to do, then go ahead and play it, but don't play it with any REAL expectations.

I played the original a ton back in the day. As some have said, the controls are a little difficult at first but just like the PS original, you get use to them and can play very fluidly once you get the hang of it.

It is also a complete remake with a new engine as some have said. However, I think they had to do this in order to achieve the graphical updates they intended to do. Again, this in my opinion does not take away from the game.

Overall great game with tons of replayability!
