Legend of Grimrock 2 (here on referred to as LoG 2) is everything you could want for a sequel and more. I look forward to what the future holds with user generated content.
The Legend of Grimrock series are a set of real time, grid based, dungeon crawlers with pleasing graphics and a good aesthetic.
Movement is based on grid and you can turn left and right also move left, right, forward and backwards. You attack by clicking the weapon of choice from the character portraits. While this is not for everyone, it's stays true to it's roots and will please many after they have adapted.
While the story is a little weak, you will find yourself enjoying the neatly packaged puzzles that are littered throughout the world. I had a problem with the first game where you had to search each wall for secret buttons or risk missing one. LoG 2 improves on this by giving some subtle and some not so subtle hints that the player is missing something and should look deeper, resulting in a less difficult search.
Another area that LoG 2 improves upon is allowing the user access to outside areas, giving more varied feel to the game. There are now many more types of enemies and many of which have varied A.I.
The soundtrack has seen improvements since the first game and has a lovely score of atmospheric ambient noise and battle music for boss fights. The theme tune is catchy but I still see myself returning to the theme song of the first game.
In conclusion my experience with Legend of Grimrock 2 was amazing and to top off it all, there is extensive support of modifications, I look forward to seeing what people create.
