Σχετικά με αυτό το παιχνίδι

Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts have peculiar jobs: They give people another chance to live, all the way from the very beginning... but only in their patients' heads.

Due to the severity of the operation, the new life becomes the last thing the patients remember before drawing their last breath. Thus, the operation is only done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfill what they wish they had done with their lives, but didn’t.

This particular story follows their attempt to fulfill the dream of an elderly man, Johnny. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the puzzled events that spanned a life time, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish to be what it is.

And Johnny's last wish is, of course... to go to the moon.

This game is like an emotional rollercoaster. Overall this game will make you sob like a little child but there are moments which will bring a smile to your face. Great game.

Controls are a bit janky though. Nothing too serious.

2% of the game: "ok" story
98% of the game: stupid mini-games and not-funny-at-all jokes from the idiotic male doctor.

Game is not "that horrible", but your money are more well-invested anywhere else.

TL;DR: Not a technical gem. So many feels. SO worth it.

The Game
To the Moon is an RPG-like game in which you play two employees of Sigmund Corp., a company that is hired to change people's memories in order to fullfil their dying wishes. Dr. Watts and Dr. Rosalene, are, thus, contacted to fullfil an old man's (Johnny) wish of going to the moon. For that, they backtrack through his memories, starting at his most recent one, until they reach a point where they can inject his will to become an astronaut, leaving his own mind to fill the gaps after that. At each memory, they must find a memento, an object that will link back to an older memory upon activation.
As the player plays through the memories, a beautiful, and sometimes painful, story unfolds.

Technical Review:
This game is not a technical gem. The mechanics are simple enough, and it looks like a project a beginner game designer could make on Engine 001. Sometimes, some things felt awkward (for me at least), specially with the change of the cursos icon, and the characters movement (choosing weird routes when point-and-clicking, and not doing as predicted when using a controler).
The switch from regular RPG to a puzzle during the preparation of the mementos is something that I quite enjoyed.

Artistic Review:
If this game is not a technical gem, I'd easily say it is an artistic one.
Although the graphics are very simple, and mostly "uneventfull", there are one or two moments where even they shine.
But the graphics are far from what makes this game an artistic gem. It's story and music make it so.
The story is sometimes beautiful, sometimes painful, sometimes hauting. The story of two lovers since childhood. At each memory we get a new look at things, and in my opinion it beautifully brought to light a desease (Aspergers Syndrome) through a couple of characters with different struggles, and stories. It is a game that quite possibly will have you cry, as well as laugh at the ever so inadequate jokes of Dr. Neil Watt. (Who, it should be noted, seems to be a fan of How I Met Your Mother and Doctor Who).
Finally, the music.
The music of this game is absolutely beautiful in it's simplicity yet emotion. It shows how it can create ambiance, from mre cheerful moments, to sadder tones, to mysterious, even a bit suspenseful. If the story alone won't make you feel, put a good headset on and you're either gonna cry, or gonna have your eyes begin to tear up, or you're just not human.

Overview
I absolutely recommend this game. It's a great, simple piece that shows us that videogames are, truly, a form of art (it actually will literally tell you that on one of the DLC's, like that was needed)

P.S.: I've played the first DLC (the holliday special miniepisode), but not yet the seccond. It is also a beautiful piece at different moments, and for different reasons. I do feel, however, that a chance was wasted at telling other stories, and from other points of view. However, the universe was expanded in a new and interesting way.

P.P.S.: Though this game reminded me of Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, I sill felt at moments that I would like to watch a movie of it, were it well made. And by well made I mean take one of the tangents that the game offers, instead of telling the same story. Perhaps one of Dr.s Watt and Rosalene's old cases, perhaps someone one of someone else's from Sigmund Corp.

This game is by far the most touching story ever told in the game industry. Although the game mechanics are easy to follow and very simple, the story is truly something. This game brought tears to my eyes. It's truly magical. Definitely one of those games you'll instantly fall in love with. With it's simple, but elegant design, incredible writing, and thrilling, heartfelt tale, To The Moon is more story than game, but what a story it is...

Truly a moving experience. I actually cried during this game, twice. I recommend heavily, although one shouldn't go in expecting many gameplay mechanics. This is a story you get to vicariously experience. Definitely worth the buy.

Cliche and short, with only 1 likeable character. Annoying heavy-handed treatment of autism and the whole point of the game is to give the biggest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ever a meaningless happy memory.

Oh and the controls are TERRIBLE. Making precise movements was awful (especially with a controller) and visually it did a bad job of showing paths/boundaries. Also there's a *completely* pointless and repetitive minigame that you have to go through for no reason every time you jump to a new area.

Waste of both time and $2.

I don't write Steam Reviews. This game made me do it. Awesome game and makes want to come back for more. The characters were well designed, the music was really pulling you into the game. This is a masterpiece of an RPG Maker game and this is worth more than I bought it for. Good job and more power to everyone.

Think of the best pieces of art in visual arts, media and literature.
Think Mona Lisa, think the Titanic, think about the works of Charles Dickens. To The Moon is the videogame equivelent to those pieces of art. This game is so captivating, so story rich and all so beautiful I feel incredibly selfish and bad for purchasing the game while on sale.

Do yourself a favor and buy this game along with the soundtrack. It's honestly one of the best games I've ever played. Flawless in everyway.

Got this game from a friend. But honestly, I'd pay 20$ for it.
It starts off slow, but after about 30 minutes of playtime, you are exposed to the most beautiful, thrilling and exciting story.
It got me to reconnect with some of my long forgotten dreams, and it made me cry. A lot.
The soundtrack is beautiful, and I still listen to it whenever I'm down.

If you finish this game and don't like it, you are dead to me.

Beautiful! Emotionally captivating. Please make more!

Controlls are a bit iffy - I switched between mouse/keyboard and gamepad frequently; Doesnt take away from the experience though.

Slightly clunky controls and occasional glitches are completely overshadowed by the amazing story. I don't think i've been this moved by a game since The Walking Dead S1. It doesn't take very long to complete but feels longer than it's length and can drag at times. The gameplay itself is mediocre rpgmaker type point and click with some arbitrary puzzles placed throughout. This in no way deteriates from the story though, with a steady ramp up to a heart wrenching finale this is one of the best stories i've ever played.

much more like an interactive experience than a typical game.
A very well written and executed story, filled with very dramatic and funny moments, accompanied by an amazing and mesmerizing soundtrack.
An experience not to be missed!
Heartily recommended.
