Gunpoint is a 2D puzzle game, with very unusual mechanics.
- It's over so soon?
The game itself is fairly short which is the biggest issue I have with it, but has a lot of replay value in terms of replaying levels for a better outcome, or a different solution entirely (and there's also a level editor!)
+ The story
What I like in the game is the story, how it's written, the dialogue especially.
The story of the game is quick to the point, you're a detective being framed. You then proceed to take job offers in order to find out more and ultimately clear your name.
+ The feel
The overall feel of the game, how well you move around, how responsive and fluid it feels, as well as the sound letting you immerse into the game, are all brilliant. When was the last time you punched someone in the face two hundred times and got to hear a "fump" sound that makes you want to punch him two hundred times more?
The puzzle aspect of this game is the main thing though, and it's executed with both elegance and ingenuity, and there's not one 'set' way of clearing levels, which is brilliant but so underrated these days. You choose what items you want to buy, which towards the start can feel forced but quickly ends up being more in your own power to decide.
Overall this game is one of the hidden gems everyone should at least know about.
If I'm not mistaken there is also a demo version if you're not completely sure whether you want to buy it just yet.
