I just finished this game and have to say overall it is at least tied for my favorite SH game, the other being vs Jack the Ripper. It may just be my favorite. The graphics are an improvement over most of the SH games and overall the voice acting is very good. I loved most of the puzzles as well, it was a good mix this time, unlike Nemesis which mostly had math puzzles. The story was very good and kept me guessing as to what was actually going on. The scenes in the game were all very good, each location had a good feel and there were no tedious travels with having to go back and forth between several places in a single scene (Nemesis got very tedious). I managed to get all the achievements as well, in 22 hours of play time (of which 6 hrs were probably idle/afk time for me. If you like mystery games this one is highly recommended!

If you like crime, mystery and Sherlock Holmes then you'll love this game. This game is mostly about finding clues, looking for items, completing puzzles and talking to other characters. It's not a point and click game but does have some essence of it. You can control Sherlock and walk around environments. Finding clues is easy but the puzzles will really make you think. If you intend on playing this game fast have a walkthrough on standby. The game nudges you through a lot of it but the puzzles and how to use items is trial and error. But what do you expect from a Sherlock game? It's real fun and I recommend it. The storyline and cut scenes really kept me interested. It's like playing a story!

Pros:
Easy gameplay
Storyline
Voice acting
Challenge
Graphics were better than expected
Not boring
Easy to complete all achievements

Cons:
Some challenges or tasks was tough enough to need a walkthrough. This was a personal matter because I was rushing.

I really enjoyed this game.

The Story, pacing and graphics are all very well done. I enjoyed all of the puzzles and found the voice acting solid. If this game is on sale, buy it. If this game is not on sale and you want a good point and click, buy it anyway. Either way I think it is worth it.

Thank you Frogwares for another fun game.

10/10

PS: Toby is in the game so let's call it 11/10

Never really got into the point and click style adventures, but for Holmes I thought I could make an exception. The puzzles can be challenging, but it just makes it all the more satisfying when you finally stumble upon the solution.

Decent story which did eventually tie together at the end and pretty graphics. Overall I rather enjoyed myself.

A few gripes, the mini games don't explain themselves and you will waste time and patience trying to guess at what they want you to do. Very annoying once you realize you get an achivement only if you complete them all. Also, there were times where I couldn't figure out what the game wanted me to do. I couldn't leave an area until I found some crucial bit of evidence, but was given no indication what it might be. More than once it seemed like I just needed to have the character acknowlege something, even if it didn't seem the least bit relevant.

Still enjoyed the game and picked up a few of the others in the series.

For a point-and-click game it was great, the puzzles were challenging but not to the point where you need to be a genius to solve them nor too easy that the game lasts 10 minutes

Despite of some bizarre glitches, which do not prejudice in anything at all, the game is really good. I haven't finished it yet, but the game has a good story, the difficulty is fair and it is very well dubbed. Get it if you like adventures and to solve mysteries.

A must play for any fan of adventure genre. It has a great story (though a bit disappointing closer to the end) and logical puzzles nicely integrated into the narrative. The visuals are pretty good as well. I especially liked the fact one could play in three different modes: first or third person perspective, or with a static camera like in Grim Fandango. The last but not least: the game is very true to the books with Sherlock being, well, Sherlock.

Good stuff:

*Gameplay that doesn't put you in the 'where do I go'' situations as much.
The game cleverly helps you to the right directions, without making it
too straight forward easy.

*Puzzles is at a perfect level of challenge.
None of them taking more than 45 minutes to solve.

*Music is as soothing as usual, in a Sherlock game.

*Graphics are really sharp, with good lightning.

*Story pull some surprising twists.

Bad stuff experienced (as feedback):

*Recurring bugs when in puzzle view.
The interactivity decides to freeze half the time when entering a puzzle view.
Sometimes being fixed by spamming the ''reset'' icon and exiting the puzzle
view, but in some cases forcing you to instead reboot the game.

*The feature in the menu, of being able to select between playing Holmes or
Watson, comes out highly unnecessary, as it is almost never avaliable through the game.

*Dr. Watson is an expert at always standing right behind you, when playing
Holmes and feel like backing up, blocking your path doing so.
But maybe it was intended like that? :D

Conclusion:

Excellent game!

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes tells an interesting story, mixed with a bunch of intuitive puzzles and a few clever characters. However, for every upside there's a huge downside, and it's hard to look away from the game's tendency to be both extremely slow-paced and amazingly rigid in the way you actually play. What's worse: The game includes plenty of infuriatingly complicated puzzles, the kinds you need a guide to figure out, lest you're a fan of crazy amounts of trial and error.

You'd be better of skipping straight to the far superior sequel, Crimes & Punishments.

Conveys the Sherlock Holmes I know and love from the books and short stories, in a way most other visual media won't do. The puzzles are brilliant. Very difficult to guess correctly; you certainly have to think about it. Watson is funny but very like the Watson I'm familiar with from the books. He's slightly slower to cop on here but that's fine.

The game design is nearly flawless. Just a couple of glaring UV seams not worth mentioning (would you look at that, I've mentioned them) but no-thing else to complain about there. Some slightly overused NPC models but it's an indie game so you expect that sort of thing. Really good attention paid to Victorian English culture, accents, clothing, architecture, &c. Though a couple of articles of clothing, if I'm to be overly fastidious, are American and not British. You won't notice. Only me.

The story is perfect. The acting is mostly perfect. A couple of less believable actors but most of it's great.

I will complain about the controls. It doesn't matter much because you don't really need fast response time in this game, but in third person some stuff is annoying because it takes far longer than you'd expect, and this is fixed by going into first person view.

Overall, great game, great story, great puzzles, great Holmes, great Victorian London. Very impressed by the puzzles.

I really enjoyed playing this game. The puzzles were fairly challenging; I looked forward to trying to solve the next puzzle. I was truly interested in the story line, and I liked how the story came together. The controls were difficult at first. I actually ended up playing with a controller because it was easier. My major critique of gameplay was that the clues were always very obvious - meaning the magnifying glass or the hand popping up. I would have enjoyed playing this game as an interactive without those tips. Make me really look at the surroundings to find clues, etc. Otherwise, time and money well spent.

Another excellent Sherlock Holmes game. Graphics are pretty good and the voice acting is as good as ever.
Excellent story and puzzles accompany this as well. Some puzzles are as Sherlock says, "Simplicity itself". Others will drive you nuts. I looked for help to solve 2 puzzles and one of them there was no clue to help you at that time. I eventually figured it out, but it took me about an hour and a half, but was totally worth it.
Great game. Great fun. Great challenge.

The game is gorgeous. Some of the puzzles are challenging, but most are kind of easy. The voice acting sounds a little strange sometimes with odd inflections as if the actors don't understand the context of the lines they are reading. The controls can be a pain sometimes and not very intuitive. The end credits are a lot of fun.

Thoroughly enjoyed this game, My first Sherlock game and it wont be my last, Really good entertaining story and plot that has a few surprising twists and turns, The puzzles are very well done and can give hours of fun on their own, They are not reach for the cheat hard and I managed to do all of them bar two without a hint. When looking for clues its very easy to miss things that are small and don't seem to register with the magnifier glass.

Pros: Puzzles, Story

Cons: Finding small clues, Annoying repetitive speech (What are we going to do next Holmes?)

I really enjoyed this game, even if I found it a bit short. The story is engaging and the puzzles varied and challenging. If I have any complaint, it would be to say there wasn't really any clear direction given for a number of the puzzles. I found myself looking to the internet on a couple of occassions when I had no clue what I was supposed to do with a puzzle (and I'm too stubborn to click the "skip" button that pops up when you take too long with one).

The characters were well done, with good voice acting, though it could be jarring to see the lips moving not quite in sync. I also noted how, when presented with a locked door, Watson would say "Locked" in a frustrated tone, while Sherlock would calmly muse, "Closed." There are a lot of lovely details to note and I appreciated the ability to choose my POV. All in all, this is a good puzzle/point & click game,
