Steam Big Picture

Σχετικά με αυτό το παιχνίδι

The Caribbean, in the turbulent 17th Century. The mighty kingdoms of Spain, England, France and the Netherlands fight over the colonies. And there you are, a young sea captain whose only goal is to become the most powerful man in the New World. To achieve that goal, you may choose one of the two available campaigns: will you become an Adventurer or a Trader?

If you chose the way of the Adventurer, lead an unforgiving campaign for the conquest of the seas: invasion, piracy, bounty hunting, raiding; do whatever it takes to build your own empire in the Caribbean. And of course, trade will have a less important role to play in your rise.
The way of the Trader is, on the opposite, mostly about developing your riches and your economic power. To be the most powerful Trader of the New World, you have to create trade routes, build industries and develop the economy of the colonies.
Of course, in Free Play mode, you can mix both of those in any way you want, letting you create your own unique and exciting story.

For the first time in the acclaimed Port Royale series, you are not alone in the beautiful and seemingly so peaceful seas of the Caribbean. The Multiplayer mode allows up to 4 players to play through LAN or over the Internet. Develop a successful trading company, lead your ships in beautiful 3D naval battles and force your opponents to their knees!

Key Features:

  • Two different single player campaigns: Adventurer and Trader
  • Naval battles, raids, plundering and invasions await the Adventurer, while the Trader will develop trade routes and the economy to earn glory, fortune and power
  • 16 different ship types, such as powerful Galleons or versatile Frigates
  • Organize trade with 60 different cities such as Port-au-Prince or Tortuga
  • A competitive Multiplayer mode for up to 4 players
  • A comprehensive trade system, with supply and demand dynamically setting the price of goods and wares, like in the real world

The learning curve on this game is not that easy and the tutorials are honestly awful. But once you get a handle on what the game is actually about and what you're supposed to actually be doing, you may enjoy this game.... that is you might enjoy it. The business management part of the game is fairly intricate and grindy. If you're not into intricate and grindy games... you probably will hate this one.

I put a lot of hours into this game expecting something decent to come at the end, but I came away disappointed. The game starts off fairly accessible and is fun to grind through what 'campaign' there is, but once it's beaten and you get thrown into the free-mode limbo of boredom, you may as well unistall there.

There's no way to 'beat' the game. The only real ending is when you've decided that you've hit your personal best 'score' and uninstall it out of boredom.

No tutorial or any help getting start (a link to a video doesn't count). I'm not going to put the time into this to learn how to play when it just looks so bad

Port Royal 3 is a turn-based strategy game based around building up a selected society into a world power.

Port Royal 3 has no campaign, instead it simply allows the players to create a world of their devising and jump right into it either by themselves or with others in multiplayer. The biggest choice a player will make is what port they're going to play. And hell yes, this is the type of game that you want to just play over and over. Like its predecessors, Port Royal 3 is amazingly addictive, with games commonly drawing more than five or six hours out of me in a single sitting. The reason? Because win or lose, Port Royal 3 allows players to guide an entire society and craft their own story, taking them from the dawn of history and far into the future.

I say Port Royal 3 is only "good" -- and not "great," as I would have said about Port Royal 2 -- at crafting stories because I feel like the game's taken away some pretty important tools for customizing your society.

Port Royal 3 is one of the best turn-based strategy games I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. Whether teaming up with my friends for some multiplayer, or simply losing a whole night of sleep to the game’s endlessly replayable single player, this is one game that any strategy enthusiast, or, hell anyone strat-curious should check out. With all the tips, advisers and tools in place, this is the first Port Roayl for PC that I feel is worth just about every person’s time. Go forth and create, subdue, and exploit. Do as Firaxis has done, and bring Port Royal to the masses.

4/10 Could use some work.

Not a very well balanced game. You buy buildings and train skills as part of normal game play, but the game increases the requirements to do that extremely disproportionately to your progress and level, which creates a large disconnect between what the game asks of you, and what you're actually capable of supplying.

I bought this game and all DLC on sale not having a clue about it. I found it to be a very enjoyable game. I don't think I would ever buy this for the full price. The game play is easy to learn with built in tuts. Free play is very fun, board ships, fire different types of cannon shot, trade, or even make war.

I had this game for Xbox360, the console version definitely was glitchy and not well-refined. I thought I had to give a go to this game on computer.

With all the patches and DLCs, PR3 is a really enjoyable title. It has new features that makes the gameplay more interesting , like improved battles where you can use three ships at a time (even though I've heard that PR1 had more complex battles), and a tweaked up trade system it works really nicely.

I really like the fact that you can end up playing your own nation if you develop enough, and other stuff like the pirate life mode give the game some gameplay variety which makes the game even more enjoyable.

The only flaw I see on the game is the multiplayer. It seems there's not much cooperation thought behind it, but competitive goals instead. It looks fun, but I couldn't give it a go because I still couldn't find the way to host nor join a multiplayer game. The servers seem to be down too often.

Port Royal 3 is an improvement in mechanic for the Port Royal Series,
as there are improvements, there are always problem not far behind.

The combat in this version are greatly simplify and easy to handle, but the lack of number of ships in combat, compared to Port Royal 1, is quite disappointing,
while Port Royal 2 combat system to, fail impress me as well, due to the lack of ships in combat,
but Port Royal 3 on this respect did a better job.

The combat system of Port Royal 3 should be maintain, but with more ships as Port Royal 1, ground combat for Port Royal 3 is way to simplify as well, but do get frustrating because there's a limit of combat ship to deploy ground troops, meaning you tend to have more then 1 - 3 fleet, to get 1 simple raiding job done.

Trading is also simplify and become easily manageable, I do prefer this but, it causes the game to be too much of hand holding because of this.

In simple term do I recommend this game? Yes for first timer, hardcore fans might be disappointed, you better off play the old version.

In conclusion,
is it a good merchant/ micromanaging game of the pirate era?/ is it a good RTS like element in the global map combat system it offer?
Yes to both, it's worth a try, especially if it's on a discount.

it's not a great game by any stretch, it's average at best for me,
but the game keep pulling me back sometimes,
(especially the first version, still hoping for it to be on steam).

In the fun side of conclusion...
Buy it for the money and ship hoarding hoarding man! You get to see actually cannon animation on each cannon shooting and destroying the ship mask and sailor on it, compared to other RTS game considering a ship only have 1 total overall HP.

Cheers People!

Not as much YAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! as I'd like, but overall it's not a bad game. Not fast paced, not a bad learning curve, but there are features I'd like to see added if there's a sequel. More Total War style controls for naval battles and possibly a clearer UI for setting up trade routes/trade convoys.

Between this and Sid Meier's Pirates! you ought to be covered.

A decently fun title, though more of a remastering of Port Royale 2.

Very hard to start off with little to none tutorial... With a little help from the InterwebZ godz *Cough* all mighty Google, the game picks up rapidly and will leave you addicted to take on the world with your economic might; but be careful out there these shores often have black pirate flags about ye' hear... Or are they your very own feet of ghost pirate ships?
You decide!

I liked this game because it is very addicting especially when playing with friends. The only downsides being that online multiplayer isnt always working and there is only one map. Despite this that one map feels different every playthrough

Pretty good game,
First time I played I played for 109 minutes, got 5 achevments and figured out the basics of how to play.

Now, how to get beyond the basics is what I have to work on.

The only reason I set this thing down is because I have to due to this thing called a life.
(Stupid school/work)

I really wanted to like this game. I have a bit of a soft spot for Mechant Trading games, and it has pirates! Honestly, I put about 45 minutes in to this game. A good 20 of it was frustrated swearing. I suppose if you have the time to invest in trying to learn the clunky controls through the painful tutorials, it might be pretty fun. However, my experience was as such. I jumped in to the campaign and I mean that quite literally as there is no tutorial given to you, you have to find it buried in one of the screens under a tab. And that hunt portends to the rest of my experience. "Go trade some goods to another town." I'll make this short, you load the world map, look at towns, try to decipher their system of icons (which I'm sure is welcome if you know what they are, but I don't, and it's a pain to learn them all right off the bat), then figure out the weird way of sending your ship to that town, load that town, go through the clunky interface of buying and selling, wash rinse repeat. If you change the time rate to sail, be sure to change it back when you get to your spot or it screws up your quests. Really, there are so many things I disliked about the game, that to name them all is as much of a chore as playing the game. I bought it on sale, but I'm still irked.
The gist is, if you are familiar with these kinds of games, this might work for you. If you have time to invest learning the strange way it's set up and manuevering it's poor interface, give it a go. Buy it on sale though, just in case.

This game isn't bad but it wasn't what I was looking for and never really hooked me as much as it could have if a bit more love had been put into it.

I once had to go to a wedding in Canada, so I left my computer on for 6 day's while I was gone. This was in the background, and in that time, I had massed a fortune and everyone recongized me as the soverign power. 8/10 could be better
