Steam Big Picture

Over dit spel

The Caribbean, in the turbulent 17th Century. The mighty kingdoms of Spain, England, France and the Netherlands fight over the colonies. And there you are, a young sea captain whose only goal is to become the most powerful man in the New World. To achieve that goal, you may choose one of the two available campaigns: will you become an Adventurer or a Trader?

If you chose the way of the Adventurer, lead an unforgiving campaign for the conquest of the seas: invasion, piracy, bounty hunting, raiding; do whatever it takes to build your own empire in the Caribbean. And of course, trade will have a less important role to play in your rise.
The way of the Trader is, on the opposite, mostly about developing your riches and your economic power. To be the most powerful Trader of the New World, you have to create trade routes, build industries and develop the economy of the colonies.
Of course, in Free Play mode, you can mix both of those in any way you want, letting you create your own unique and exciting story.

For the first time in the acclaimed Port Royale series, you are not alone in the beautiful and seemingly so peaceful seas of the Caribbean. The Multiplayer mode allows up to 4 players to play through LAN or over the Internet. Develop a successful trading company, lead your ships in beautiful 3D naval battles and force your opponents to their knees!

Key Features:

  • Two different single player campaigns: Adventurer and Trader
  • Naval battles, raids, plundering and invasions await the Adventurer, while the Trader will develop trade routes and the economy to earn glory, fortune and power
  • 16 different ship types, such as powerful Galleons or versatile Frigates
  • Organize trade with 60 different cities such as Port-au-Prince or Tortuga
  • A competitive Multiplayer mode for up to 4 players
  • A comprehensive trade system, with supply and demand dynamically setting the price of goods and wares, like in the real world

A fairly bland pirate/trading game. Adds nothing to the genre that wasn't done just as well 10 years ago.

If you like this kind of game, you'll probably enjoy this. But don't expect anything new.

I really like this game, you can create a lot of convoys and gain a lot of money, you can just get a city and build a lot of products and sell them or you can just focus on pirates/other nations convoys and play with the naval battle system.

Too many tips and the tutorials are good to discover the controls but after that the Free Play is much better. The game can keep you hook on for very long time (I'm still in the first save that I had) because you take a looooooot of time to save a lot of money, buy lots of ships to make rotes, reach the highest level to unblock everything, get married, be the owner of the most of cities (I still only own like 2-3 and have the majority of 5-7) and everytime that I thought that I exterminate all the pirate activity another one appears x_x

Tip: don't try to attack the others nations till you have some good attack convoys.

Port Royal 3 is an improvement in mechanic for the Port Royal Series, as there are improvements, there are always problem not far behind.

The combat in this version are greatly simplify and easy to handle, but the lack of number of ships in combat, compared to Port Royal 1 is quite disappointing, Port Royal 2 combat system fail to impress me as well due to the lack of ships in combat, but Port Royal 3 did better job then what Port Royal 2 did with its combat option.

The combat system of Port Royal 3 should be maintain but with more ships as Port Royal 1, ground combat for Port Royal 3 is way to simplify as well, but do get frustrating because there's a limit of combat ship to deploy ground troops.

Trading is also simplify and become easily manageable I do prefer this but, it causes the game to be to much of hand holding because of this.

In simple term do I recommend this game? Yes for first timer, hardcore fans might be disappointed but that take it however you like, it's an average game overall.

Not as much YAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! as I'd like, but overall it's not a bad game. Not fast paced, not a bad learning curve, but there are features I'd like to see added if there's a sequel. More Total War style controls for naval battles and possibly a clearer UI for setting up trade routes/trade convoys.

Between this and Sid Meier's Pirates! you ought to be covered.
