Despre acest joc

Hell Yeah! is a crazy action-adventure platformer... In Hell.

You are Ash, a devil rabbit and the prince of Hell. When some jerk finds it funny to post your secret intimate photos all over the Hell-ternet, you get VERY angry.

Time to seek out the bastard and destroy him once and for all. While you’re at it, why not use this incredible journey to kill everybody else?

It’s you against all Hell. It’s Hell Yeah!

Key Features:

  • Tension-relieving faux-gore action Hell Yeah! helps you clear your mind after a bad/frustrating/boring day at work. Achieve this by exploring the four corners of Hell and exterminating monsters in a cheerful yet challenging atmosphere.
  • Drill to kill shooting is fun but shooting from a super sawing jetpack that can drill through walls and squash monsters into chunks is better. Hell Yeah! gives you full frontal violence in your face.
  • This game is too BIG for you 10 huge game worlds with secret areas and side quests, hundreds of objects, weapons and monsters to collect. If you’re a completionist, you’re screwed man.
  • Help us make Hell a cleaner place there are 100 unique monsters to exterminate in Hell Yeah! Some are rude, others are really ugly but they all equally deserve to DIE!
  • 'Finish him' moves that will make your mama cry inflict ultimate humiliation on the monsters of Hell using over 30 deadly “Finish him!” mini-games.
  • Pimp my drill collect loot and spend your cash in big shops where you can buy bigger guns and awesome upgrades for your ride. The donut driller skin and the ‘Sploding Carrot missile launcher make a lovely combo.

My score: 6/10
Playthrough time: 8 hours (a total of 9 hours including the time to get the Jackpot achievement)

+Lovely, totally over the top design - wacky and insane things all over the place
+Good looking graphics
+Works very well with a 360 controller
+Some nice changes of pace like the twin stick space shooter levels
+Good soundtrack

-Somewhat sloppy controls
-A combination of sparse checkpoints and sadistic design makes you replay long sequences

Performance notes:
The game is great for using the Xbox 360 controller and playing on the TV from the couch. The game feels like it was made for the 360 controller, so I never played with the keyboard.

The game has low system requirements, so it should run well on most computers. For me it always stuttered for about half a second each time while auto saving, but this was the only issue I encountered.

Main review:
Hell Yeah starts off with a story just as wacky as the rest of the game. You play as Ash, the skeleton bunny prince of hell, who has gotten private pictures of him bathing with a rubber ducky leaked, so to not seem like a weakling, you have to kill the 100 hell monsters who have seen the pictures.

The game itself is mostly standard platforming. You jump around, avoid obstacles, shoot stuff and navigate the levels to get to the 100 monsters. Each time you encounter one, and get its health down by shooting it or using objects in the environment (depending on the monster) you will get to play a mini-game for a chance to land the killing blow. The mini games are often just matching the right button(s)/get the timing right, but there are a few other ones. There are a lot of different ones, so each one isn't used more than 3, maybe 4 times.

You get to upgrade your health and weapons, and some levels have vehicles: in one you control a submarine, and another one a space ship, and the game turns in to a twin stick shooter. This was quite a nice change of pace.

What the game does best is all the wacky things happening:

*Killing a monster by lifting weights, turning in to a super sized muscular bunny that kicks the monster into a soccer goal so the net slices it up? Check.

*Starting in hell, but after a few levels placing you in an overly cute world, with background music with lyrics, where a woman with a French accent sings "You're a fancy bunny - Together, we're happy"? Check.

*Low on health, health bar reads "F**K"? Check.

*Shop with rap music and a bunny robot clerk, bouncing lowriders in the background? Check.

*Get the controls reversed and the game writes "LOL" at the screen, troll style? Check.

I really enjoyed all these things, and I realised that for me, I didn't come back for the gameplay, I came back for all the wackyness. To come around a corner, hear the muffled rap music indicating a shop nearby, enter and hear the full "Money, money gold!" rap parody. The music in the game is very enjoyable and well done.

One design choice I didn't like is that after you stop moving, your character "glides" a bit, which makes it really hard to make certain jumps. You get the jump just right, but when you land at the very small platform, you glide over the edge. This makes the controls not feel very "tight". Combine this with the level design, which has the checkpoints maybe 3-5 minutes between, and some sadistically hard jumps with insta-death spikes if you miss your jump, and I guess that this will send quite a few gamepads airborne and lead to rage quits. When you repeat the same 3-minute section for the 10:th time and have to play it all over again, yet another time. You also have to rewatch any "cutscenes" that appear during that section.

I'm no pro platformer, so there were sections where I had to try many times to get it right, and even though I have lots of patience, I was close to quitting a few times.

So, I wouldn't recommend this game only for the gameplay. It's fine but it has its drawbacks. If you think you would appreciate all the crazy stuff happening, and can ignore the annoying parts, you're up for a good time with Hell Yeah!

This game has more personality than a schizophrenia convention, being like a cross of WarioWare and Disgaea, thematically-speaking. You're a dead rabbit, who's also the prince of Hell, who's primary mode of transportation is a buzzsaw with an assortment of guns attached to it. That says plenty, right there.

That said, if the silliness of the game doesn't interest you, then it's not for you, as the gameplay is less than stellar. The platforming and shooting is mediocre at best, and frustrating at worst. If you're interested in this game, I'd honestly reccommend watching a playthrough rather than playing it yourself, as you'd probably have more fun that way.

The personality IS pretty great, though, not going to lie. Hell, if it does well enough, maybe we can see a sequel with enough of a budget to improve on the actual gameplay and be a truely radical game. MAYBE ONE DAY.

I picked up Hell Yeah! as something Halloweeny to play last fall and I was worried I made a bad call, but it has enough blood and hellfire to count, I think. You play Ash, the skeletal bunny prince of Hell. Your dad croaked and some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ demon took scandalous photos of you so your mandate to rule is in question. The story is dumb and the humor errs on the side of trying too hard, but it's a good enough setup for murdering tons of demons. Which is your goal, killing 100 demons in all kinds of gruesome ways. Your main weapon is a sawblade (they call it a jetpack and I have no idea why) that lets you kill normal enemies by touching them and wear down the big named monsters. Once you wear them down you get a little WarioWare-style minigame to finish them off in some bloody, goofy way.

The platforming is solid, though the emphasis seems more on exploring to find money and secrets for upgrades than on fighting. Combat really is mostly a non-issue since you kill things by touching them and you have a ridiculous amount of health. It's colorful and cute and a little gross and has a ton to unlock, so it's not bad if you want a light platformer with some goofy style.

Hell Yeah! started of as a humorous action platformer but sadly grew repetitive quickly, and the boss fights that were unique and different in the beginning felt like a chore towards the end as they simply overstayed their welcome. Quite liked its graphical style and sound assets for most of it but in the end its not enough to way up for the bad parts of the game.

Most achievements are things you will get simply by progressing forward in the story which is quite nice. One of the few that require more focused time is the JACKPOT! achievement that requires you to get the jackpot on one of the games slot machines. There is litttle you can do about this one as its based on luck so be ready to spend a fair amount of time on it.

Time to 100%: ~7-9 hours
