About This Game

Dishonored is an immersive first-person action game that casts you as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. With Dishonored’s flexible combat system, creatively eliminate your targets as you combine the supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets at your disposal. Pursue your enemies under the cover of darkness or ruthlessly attack them head on with weapons drawn. The outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make.

Story:

Dishonored is set in Dunwall, an industrial whaling city where strange steampunk- inspired technology and otherworldly forces coexist in the shadows. You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is besieged by plague and ruled by a corrupt government armed with industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man – but at what cost? The truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city, and the life you once had is gone forever.

Key features:

  • Improvise and Innovate

Approach each assassination with your own style of play. Use shadow and sound to your advantage to make your way silently through levels unseen by foes, or attack enemies head-on as they respond to your aggression. The flexible combat system allows you to creatively combine your abilities, supernatural powers and gadgets as you make your way through the levels and dispatch your targets. Improvise and innovate to define your play style.
  • Action with Meaning

The world of Dishonored reacts to how you play. Move like a ghost and resist corruption, or show no mercy and leave a path of destruction in your wake. Decide your approach for each mission, and the outcomes will change as a result.
  • Supernatural Abilities

Teleport for stealth approaches, possess any living creature, or stop time itself to orchestrate unearthly executions! Combining your suite of supernatural abilities and weapons opens up even more ways to overcome obstacles and eliminate targets. The game’s upgrade system allows for the mastery of deadly new abilities and devious gadgets.
  • A City Unlike Any Other

Enter an original world envisioned by Half-Life 2 art director Viktor Antonov. Arkane and Bethesda bring you a steampunk city where industry and the supernatural collide, creating an atmosphere thick with intrigue. The world is yours to discover.

It's an awesome game!! While it's a bit cheesy in the terms of the moral guidance system and it's length, it's still a fun game to play through and challenge yourself on!

I was glad when I finally finished the game because...
- playing the game on stealth makes it much too easy
- there are so many items to collect which I mostly never felt like I needed them (also when goin for rampage)
- if you dont like casual games, please stay away.

I had a right intuition to never buy this game back then, but now the high amount of positive rates for this game + steam sale = got me. => lesson learned.

One of the few non-goofy/geeky creations of bethesda. This game has a fully relatable story to how you play - if you don't care for the story, then naturally, you won't understand it. It follows your actions - it's a little forgiving, but not in the ways your old school "kill everyone and expect the game to proceed the same" players would. The objectives often chance, and so does much else - naturally, the maps themselves stay the same. It is following a story, after all.

The gameplay is easily adapted too, and works perfectly with the game. I have no complaints with the game, except with its DLC, and even then, it's only with the pacing of the story in it.

One of the few 10/10 games out there, I'd say.

Dishonored Is one of my favorite games of all time. The feel of this game is nigh unmatched as you go through and decide for yourself how you want to approach each mission. Every approach is feels satisfying and well done, and really places you in the game. Since each mission can be completed in so many ways, you can really play how you want to play. Are you a brash, hack and slash type, who charges in head first, sword and gun at the ready? You can do that! Are you more of a shadowy assassin type, who picks off his targets from the dark cornors of the world? Or are you the kind of person who wants to never been seen, and never kills? You can do too! And with in each of these three meta-approaches you will find lots of varienty, powers, and styles to really suit you.
And to complement the gameplay, you get a beautifully designed art-style, that reeks of a disgusting, plague riddled world. You can just gaze anywhere and you get the sensation of being in a dying city. This goes hand-in hand with an intriging story about revenge, and the fate of a nation suffering power-struggles on the brink of a colllapse from a deadly disease.
This game is truely amazing, and a classic that will hold the test of time. I recommend this game to anyone.

If you don’t know Dishonored at least by name, then, my friend, you’ve been sorely missing out.

Arkane Studios and Bethesda brought to us one of the most amazing stealth games I’ve ever played. Biased? Maybe a little.

I don’t think I need to start with what Dishonored is about, as it’s such a well-known game already, but in case you’ve been living under a rock (admittedly as I was until I got it, haha), then here: Take on the role of Corvo, the late Empress’ bodyguard, now framed for her murder and deemed an assassin. As you search for the ones who are truly at guilt and try to regain your good name (or make a new name for your own), as well as get revenge, you go through the most amazingly crafted story and world, finding out about the plague that has struck the city, as well as many other things I shall not spoil for you.

Onto a more technical aspect: Dishonored is a first-person stealth/action game set in a steampunk type of world with some fantasy/magic/supernatural elements in it; I found it quite reminiscent of Bioshock in some ways, and it is an amazing, amazing] game. And this coming from someone who normally doesn’t like first person games that much, and who really sucks at stealth. The only thing that would make Dishonored any better to me right now would be if it had an option for third person.

So, what’s so great about this game, you ask? For starters, the graphics are breath-taking, even in the lowest settings; and it works on lower end PCs without a hitch, which goes to prove you can have pretty cool graphics without sacrificing playability on toasters.

The sound in the game and the voice acting too, is beautifully done. The voice, the music, everything seems to fit just perfect with the setting and characters. What’s more amazing is that the sounds your character makes when moving aren’t just filler for your enjoyment. If you’re far too loud, enemies will hear you, and will find you.

Dishonored provides you with a varied style of gameplay, not the least of which is the supernatural aspect. It has many powers to choose from, and using them is not as hard as it appears at first. Once you get used to the controls, you find they’re reasonably comfortable, although not all of them precisely handy.

But my favorite thing of all has to be the many ways you can play this game, and many ways you have to approach a mission, which just ups the replayability up to a hundred; you can try different power combinations on different playthroughs, approach everything in a rather YOLO kind of way or try to stealth your way around and be a ghost, you can even mix and match! Choose to use or even not use your supernatural powers at all, and make several moral choices that will determine what kind of ending you get after all, and what kind of person Corvo becomes. Every moral choice you make, every person you kill or not, will change how people perceive you, how you as Corvo see yourself, and the ending you get. You also have more than one path to choose for each mission, which makes it feel far more like an open world, even if it’s not really an open world game.

I would definitely recommend everyone to play it at least once; it’s too much of a fantastic game, you simply can’t miss it.

No one is going to read this, and if you do, sorry I'm not giving you a real review. I just wanted to bump up the 97% positive review even higher. All I can say is, if you haven't played this game yet, why the hell are you reading reviews and not playing this game?

Great Game,
Was in my backlog for over 3 year i think xD I bought it and it's DLC When ESO Just came out and was Pay to Play.
Great Story and Mechanism, like how your killing and nonlethal methods effect the outcome of the game and how other ppl interact with you.
the endings changes and all :D
to be honest I forgot how much I wanted to play this till i saw Dishonored 2 coming out, then I remember this and now that i played it I feel it was greatly satisfying :D

Just an advice in playing,
If you want the good ending and nonlethal ways, Start from the Start !
I played first 2 mission like mad ! killed all !
but then I had 2 no kill mission and 1 Ghost with only 12 kill and 2 other mission only 3 and 8 kill !
but Chaos level keep on staying at high :|
I even did extra saving of Civilian and test subjects and all :D

Murder tons of people to prove you did not kill someone

Or not, it depends on your choice. Take control of Corvo Attano (funny name eh), as you are framed for a murder you did not commit and embark on your quest for vengeance against those that plotted against you. That vengeance can take many forms. Unlike many games out there, you actually have the freedom to play as you like. You can choose the pacifist way and not murder a single person, therefore guards can either be avoided or knocked unconcious, or you can become the terror of the game's city, Dunwall, and butcher through the ranks of your enemies. Or you can do something in between, the choice is yours. Keep in mind though, the way you play the game has a massive impact on the city and dire consequences. I will not tell you more about it, you just have to try it for yourself (nobody loves spoilers).

To help you in your quest, there's an elaborate power system and equipment upgrade system. Corvo's powers can be customised as you want and they open plenty of options that will make your life easier. For example, you can see your enemies through walls, increase your jump height, upgrade your boots for quieter movement, increase your speed when you choke guards etc etc. Each perk and upgrade will help you either in combat or stealth and you have no constraints if you want to choose a middle way and pick something from both, like I did in my first playthrough.

Each mission is designed as a sandbox, allowing you to choose the approach you want and you can take your time, exploring the surrounding areas helping people in need, looking for treasures or overhearing conversations or you can just go straight for your objective at the cost of several chances to upgrade Corvo.

As you progress in the story, new factions and enemies are introduced, which give you a feeling that "the tides are shifting" and introduce new challenges for you to overcome. As an example, a particular mission introduces a new type of foes which can not be easily outmanoeuvred, leaving you with the option to charge at them or find other, stealthier paths. It's a nice touch to the gameplay, but the sub-plot lacks a bit, leaving you with the feeling of a rushed addition. It would be nice to see a couple of things explained a bit further.

Visually, the game is a little bit odd at best. Its style may remind you of an oil painting, always shifting, always in motion. It has beautiful lighting, soft textures and smart use of colors. From the terraced urban streets at night to grand, royal palaces the setting reminds a lot of the Victorian England era. However, the hands are too large to be real and the facial animations could have been a lot better. In general, the characters seem bulky and slightly badly drawn, probably because of the whole painting-like themed graphics. Personally, I did not enjoy it that much. In general, visually, there's nothing too special about it, but you can look past that with ease.

Still not convinced? What if I could told you can become a rat, neckstabbing wizard? What about then?
