About This Game

Set 50 years after the climactic events of the original Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. Red Faction: Guerrilla re-defines the limits of destruction-based game-play with a huge open-world, fast-paced guerrilla-style combat, and true physics-based destruction.

Key features

  • Open World Guerrilla Warfare — You decide who, when, where and how to battle. Utilize guerrilla tactics, improvised weaponry, and modified vehicles to lead insurgent attacks on EDF targets. Launch attacks based on your own gameplay style, take on missions in any order you choose, or engage in destructive activities to weaken the EDF's grip on Mars.
  • Strategic Destruction — Use destruction to your tactical advantage, setting ambushes or chain reaction explosions to attack enemy strongholds and permanently modify the game environment. Leverage fully-dynamic physics-based destruction to improvise on the fly: blow holes in a wall or floor to set an ambush or escape, take out a staircase to stop your pursuers, or drive vehicles through blown out walls.
  • Evolving & Emergent Gameplay — Carve your path through an ever changing landscape as you improvise your combat tactics - mixing gameplay styles, vehicles, weapons and explosives to defeat the EDF.
  • Epic Sci-Fi Setting — Explore the huge, unforgiving Martian landscape, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos; then tear through the fully destructible open-world environments swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire.
  • Multiplayer Combat — There is no place to hide when you put your guerrilla warfare skills to the test in a variety of highly destructive multiplayer combat modes.

Such a fantastic game. I played alot of the 360 version back when it came out, and now that I got this on my gaming rig, it is the best thing ever! The destruction is just so satisfiyng and the open world is fun to explore, it also has a pretty decent story about a revolutionary war on Mars! Guerrilla is definetly the best in the Red Faction series, the first two were okay for the time, and the newest one Armageddon just killed the fun with its linear gameplay and underground setting. I would highly suggest this game.

One of the best video games that combines an open world and destruction. "Demolition" is a better word in it's case. It is by far the best game in the Red Faction series and I highly recommend it.

Once apon a time I had a steam friend that owned this game so i hit him up was like is RFG worth buying he told me no so i bought the game the next day he unfriended me and I have played 83hrs since then. Wouldn't listen to a friend again for a 10/10 experience. On a more review note I've had this game for like 2 years on steam still havn't beat it lol but I have played it alot more or less just running round fxxking shxt up slowly working my way to the end I play it on n off and still enjoy it as much as day one. It's a very entertaining game I'd recommend it to anyone looking for little chaos in the game world because belive me things get chaotic at max heat the destruction is massive you can blow everything up except the planet which is probably a good thing lol ;). It's worth a play or 2 $20 game yea maybe i gave 20$ for it ive enjoyed it but it goes on sale every now n then it's a steal $10 and under.

Bug side personally I havn't seen any worth mentioning except for 1 the engine of the game at times has a hard time dealing with building colapses your game may slow down i dont see it as bad on my 8 core cpu (just using 4 cores manual affinity adjusted) as I did on my dualcore other then that the game runs smooth as silk using dx11 at max settings on 1920x1080. During building collapse and post collapse it will drop to a jittery 40ish fps (you can tell it's a engine problem just by way it feels because ita be 40ish but feels like 10 fps lol) but once debris vanishes over time it returns to smooth fps or when you look away from it.

It's the best openworld game if you want to destroy stuff

Pros
- Best engine I have ever seen in a video game (DESTRUCTIOOOON)
- Because of that, really fun gameplay
- Pretty good graphics

Cons
- Not a really-fun-to-play-through campaign
- The enemies sometimes require guns to fight when playing with your amazing hammer and/or your explosives is way more fun.

This is the most amazing destruction game i have ever played in my entire life. There is lots to do, lots to destroy and lots of ways to do it. The map (mars) you play on is also truely amazing and has a great atmosphere. There is noting special about the story, it's okay and easy to follow. I really recommed getting this game if you're one of those people that love destroying buildings, towers and lots of more stuff!

Though short, the game is very fun. The destruction is the reason I always come back to it. If you want a game where you can just go around and destroy whatever you want to, this is the game.

Absolutely awesome and probably one of my favourite games ever made.

The destruction engine is just brilliant and it's a blast driving around Mars causing chaos, even when you're not doing the missions!

A simple but solid and well-made title that is very fun and very memorable!

Fairly open world, nice use of the havoc engine, GUI is not cluttered, interface works well with a keyboard and mouse or a controller. Except for the grapple, this reminds me a lot of Just Cause 2 (single player). I think if you like one you will like the other.

A large part of the quests are instanced, but there are random open world quests as well as a ton of stuff to destroy in whatever creative way you can come up with. Story is interesting enough, not a huge number of annoying cutscenes like some other games force on you.

You can destroy an entire planet with a sledgehammer. You know you want it. Get it.

Outstanding arena-esque multiplayer experience that is fun and somewhat competitive, taking a bit of skill and coordination to be victorious. It is the true highlight of the game and is very much overlooked.

Mars Jihad simulator with destruction physics to bring out that bomber in all of us.

'GTA' meets 'Demolition man' on Mars. Guerilla delivers on the post-apocaliptic/Mad Max'esque scenario despite some lack of variety in the secondary quests. It packs a good 30 hours of destruction to blow some steam on weekends regardless of some occasionnaly frustrating game mechanics (enemies seem to pop up randomly out of nowhere in most high alert situations, and some of the stronger buildings will hold on forever on indestructible structures). Although the tension from the original game is missing as well as the solid FPS element, driving tanks and heavy mechs makes it up for the lack of subtlety. And the steam edition has an extra campaign where you get to be a marauder.
If Volition teamed up with id, they would make the perfect RAGE 2 game we all deserve.
